You sanded the scutes down not natural not pretty imo. The scutes are so thin you got to be careful of what just happened sanding down to the bone. Would love to see one polished, we usually wire brush the moss and algae off or leave it on then polyurethane of it, non yellowing.

I polish stones with a wet grinder for my art pieces. It takes me 5 hrs plus to get results. No stone is that clear or soft!

I have a zippo from 2017 it started life as a non special chrome plated brass zippo woth a sinple american flag print on the front and after it being my eberyday carry from 2017 till today it looked really bad, the chrome was wonr through in spots the american flag logo was allost gone tons of gouges and scratches not huge gouges but deep enough to call them that from car keys hotting it in your pockets and being dropped. So i decided to strip all the chrome off using 80 grit sand paper and worked my way up to 12k grit. Its really shiny and mirror like but still has a good amount of deeper scratches in it i cnnot get lut using polishing sand laper pads you would use for scale mdoel car bodoes starting from 500 grit all the way to 20k grit and have been doing that over and kver again for hours and hours and they still wont go away. And o have 16 different grits i use in-between bkth those two o said i used any help thanks. O got the flip top perfect no scratches and its mirror shiny with no polish needed but cant get the sides to lookike that

I didn’t do any of that grinding and scraping all I did was soak it in CLR in a bucket for a couple hours and holy shit. It took it all off pretty much if you leave the small ones in too long they get too thin and they started deteriorate.
