What about finishing the base off
Put a tennis ball on your tail stock and run it up to the bottom of your bowl this adds some stability to your work and you are not as likely to have a flying bowl.
Great video but. You need to look at some famous wood turners, they do the same wood but also use good design elements. The bottom of a bowl is just as important as the inside, you left yours, well I would say unattractive . Good luck and have fun turning.
Not really eating upside down, or..... Remember only selective bottoms can be attractive. LOL
Great idea on the mounting method with the tooth pick, always creates more work on glued chucks if you misaligned it.
