Wild Namibia - Safari | Nikon P1000
Last summer, I had the incredible opportunity to visit Namibia for a two-week round-trip. I encountered the animals that i was able to capture for this video at Erindi Private Game Reserve and Okonjati Game Reserve. It was amazing being up close with many of Africa's biggest animals, often times being as close as 10 feet (3 meters) without being separated by a fence. Some encounters were at times a bit intimidating, like when a young elephant wanted to assert its dominance by not letting us pass, all while signaling potentially aggressive behavior. This is where the knowledge and experience of our safari guide really shone. He was very patient with the elephant, backed the car up until th...

Down By The River - Wildlife In Winter | Nikon P1000
Просмотров 4365 лет назад
In this short documentary, I tried to capture the wildlife in these floodplains and the behavior that can be observed during the winter months with my Nikon P1000. It was interesting to see how diverse the wildlife in this area, which is part of a larger nature reserve, is. None of these shots were really planned, I just knew roughly which animals I would encounter in this area and the rest was...
New York City - Manhattan Zoom | Nikon P1000
Просмотров 9 тыс.5 лет назад
This video isn't directly animal related but I wanted to demonstrate the zoom capabilities of the Nikon Coolpix P1000. I was standing on top of the Empire State Building and zoomed all the way through Lower Manhattan until I reached the max zoom distance at 3000mm. The ship or ferry that you can see all the way down in the bay was about 8 miles or 12.8 km away from me. I filmed the entire video...
Nikon P1000 - Best of Wildlife

Welcome to my channel! This channel will be dedicated mainly to nature and animal related videos. In this video I compiled my favorite shots of animals that I filmed with the Nikon Coolpix P1000 over the last few months. This camera has a 125x optical zoom and can go from 24mm all the way to 3000mm. This makes it especially useful for capturing wildlife without disturbing it. This video was fil...
How did you edit it? I have this camera and want to learn how to get results like yours. Thanks 👍
I used iMovie to edit this video but there are many other free editing programs available. I think for this video I only changed the color and the contrast of some clips but left everything else as it came out of the camera. For some clips that were too shaky I used the stabilizer that is built into the editor. Hope this helps!
Hello sir great video can you tell me what settings you put for this video on the camera
Hello, sorry for the late reply. I did not see your comment. I had my camera set to 1080p/60fps to have the option to slow down some shots during editing. I shot everything in manual mode to have full control over exposure, etc. Hope this helps!
Excelente video, escelentes imagenes y excelente musica.
thank you!
Beautiful video work. I just ordered a Nikon 1000 can’t wait to use it.
thanks! great choice. you're gonna love it.

thank you for this video, the other videos in your channel, the video descriptions and for doing it all on the p1000 ..i’ve been researching, and it has been a frustrating process, about which cam to buy for wildlife videography/still shots ...while for still shots i’m not convinced the p1000 will cut it(might, who knows) ..and if i had the cash i’ll just invest in a blackmagic pocket with the longest telephoto zoom i can get(and other necessary accesories) for ‘perfect’ cinema grade videos ..but that’s not an option it seems like i’ll be going with the p1000 for wildlife/bird in flight video at the moment, possibly a dslr in the future for still shots i have to thank you and all those who tested the p1000 with time, effort & skill with love from Mauritius
thanks for the feedback. Yes, that's exactly why I wanted to provide as much information as possible to anyone who might consider using the P1000. At the time not many people really went ahead and used the camera just like any other camera, all they did was make those superzoom videos which don't really show what the P1000 is capable of. Yeah, I think for stills there are other alternatives but for video the camera still is very good. Especially in the beginning when it's way easier to just use the zoom instead of setting up a hide to get closer to the animals. Yeah I also considered getting a blackmagic but it's a serious investment. I recently purchased a GH5 and a couple of lenses since I am working on some nature documentaries for national tv now and I'm quite happy with it. I do have to say that I still heavily use the P1000 and several shots even made it to tv (mainly closeup stuff, since that is where the camera really shines). I think you will be more than happy with the P1000. If you have the opportunity, you could try borrowing it from a camera store first. And if you can get your hands on a used one you could then really save some money. Thank you and greetings from Austria!

This is great! I am planning a trip to Kenya in September, and I'm currently renting a Nikon P1000 to test out its video capability. Did you take any video at 4K? I would love to see a sample. Thanks for sharing your images.
Thank you! That is awesome. No I shot everything in 1080p to be able to slow down clips if needed. 4K is limited to 30fps if you are okay with that. I have since switched to shooting in 4K on this camera exclusively and the quality is so much better. My old footage looks quite blurry in comparison. I am certain that you will enjoy shooting in the higher resolution. I hope you have a wonderful trip and get to see lots of animals.
@@inwildlife3588 It looks great and makes me excited to go on my safari. What are your camera settings for this video? Did you use auto or manual focus? I'm practicing with this camera over the weekend at my local nature center. I want to try it with my skill set before I buy it. Thank you so much for any guidance.
@@bethhamptonjones1897 that's great. you'll definitely enjoy your trip. My settings were dependent on the situation. Usually I tried to film all manual whenever I had the time to dial in my settings and full auto if there was something unexpected happening. I was impressed with the auto settings though. The camera is quite good at managing a balanced exposure. I don't know how much you know about exposing manually on a camera. If you are shooting at 30fps your shutter speed should be around 1/60 to achieve a natural amount of motion blur. In bright daylight this could lead to a very bright image. You could then close down the aperture to let in less light, sacrificing the blurred background to some extent. In some cases that could still be too bright though. Your only options then would be to add an ND filter to the front of the lens or you could change the shutter speed. This could lead to choppier motion in your video. As I didn't have an ND filter with me I used my shutter and aperture to change exposure during the brightest parts of the day and reverted back to the "correct" settings once the light was less intense. It was a similar case with autofocus/manual focus. If an animal appeared out of nowhere or was running, I left the camera on auto and in situations where it was easier to maintain focus I switched to manual. That's a good call. Getting familiar with the camera is gonna save you from figuring things out in the heat of the moment. Bottom line for this camera: it's easy for beginners to pick up as it helps you with good auto features and once you're comfortable you can start to practice shooting manual. That said, I still use some auto settings when I'm in a pinch.
@@inwildlife3588 Thank you. You are very kind to answer my question with such thought and detail. I will share my efforts when I return.
@@bethhamptonjones1897 you're welcome. I'm always glad to help.
I am fascinated with this video. I am biologist, I work in south america. Right now I only have my GoPro hero 7 for videos. I had the opportunity to visit Madagascar last year, I was so sad because I couldn't take good pictures in the distance. Now I am saving money to buy another camera for videos and photos in the distance. I don't have a big budget then I need a camera all in one,I was thinking of Nikon P1000 and now I am very sure I going to buy it. Thanks for this wonderful videos
Thanks for the kind words. Oh that's very interesting. I'd love to visit Madagascar one day. Oh I know that pain all too well. I can really recommend the P1000 for your use-case. It does not matter how skilled of a photographer/videographer you are, this camera will serve you well for a long time. If you need a package that's a bit smaller and lighter (and if you are okay with "only" 24-2000mm) then I think the new P950 could be a good option as well (I haven't tried that one though). Thanks for watching my videos. I'll try to upload more often.
@@inwildlife3588 thanks for your advice and help, I will get the money to buy my P1000. In a short time you will watch my videos

Wauw Beautiful! What progam did u use for edit?
thanks, I used final cut.
Amazing. Good work!
thank you!
Stunning, thanks for sharing!
thanks for watching!
👍
Am I allowed to use this in one of my videos?
hey thanks for checking out my videos. I am not entirely sure how this would fit with your content, could you elaborate a bit more on that idea?
*Muito bom!!! 👏*
well done
Beautifully shot and edited. I'm buying the P1000 next week and it's good to see what can be done with it rather than the usual 'review'. looking forward to seeing more of your films :)
Concinnity thanks, this really means a lot to me. I tried approaching this camera in a hands-on way. Instead of theorizing what can and cannot be done with it, I just go out there and use it to the best of my ability. That said, those nature documentary type of videos do take a long time to plan, shoot and edit. That’s why it can take some time between uploads. Let me know if you need any tips when you get your camera. I’d be happy to help you out if needed. :)
What is the music?
It's called Eyeliner by Underbelly and can be found in the youtube audio library.
Unfortunately, the sensor is far too small. Unfortunately this is a knock-out criterion. This camera only likes bright light. As soon as it gets dark then you immediately have noise.
homer simpson well you‘re not wrong but it is the only possible way for getting a focal length of 3000mm. If Nikon were to outfit this camera with a bigger sensor, lets say a 1 inch one, the lens element would have to be several times bigger and you wouldn’t be able to carry the camera around. The current size is probably the biggest feasible size where they balanced max. focal length and portability. So it is a minor tradeoff that a skilled shooter, which i currently am not as i am only a beginner in the field of videography, can most definitely work around. If you really need a bigger sensor other manufacturers like Panasonic have some compelling bridge cameras, with a more limited zoom range though. Thanks for stopping by.

Amazing video, amazing shots, great work!! I hope your effort will pay off with more views over time. Could you also please list the music? Loved everything.
Thank you very much. I got the music off of the youtube audio library: Hydra by Huma-Huma, Descent by Houses of Heaven, Ambiment - The Ambient by Kevin MacLeod, Eureka by Huma-Huma. Thanks again.
