I came across this black and white Giant Leopard Moth in my backyard a few years ago. The orange and black markings on its body are pretty interesting.

In 2006, we happened to spot this grey fox in our Garland backyard. My wife chased it off since it seemed to be sniffing its way towards our sleeping cat. We live on a creek, so we and our neighbors have seen all sorts of critters, including: Opossums. Raccoons. Coyotes. A Bobcat. Barn Owls. Great Horned Owls. An Osprey. Several water snakes. And a huge (over 5 feet) Texas Rat Snake.

Here's some video from the Dallas Cowboys radio play-by-play booth during the second (and complete) power outage during the November 14, 2010 Cowboys@Giants game. I started recording video with my cell phone after a few of the lights returned in the stadium bowl. There was still no power in our booth.

An excerpt from a 1994 interview with Dr. Hans Mark for 90.5 KUT-FM's "UT-Week-In-Review" radio program. Dr. Mark had recently stepped down as Chancellor of the University of Texas system and was teaching in the Aerospace Engineering dept. at The University of Texas at Austin. Douglas Barricklow conducted the original interview and produced this excerpt for RUclips.

We always had KLIF on the radio to wake up to to go to sleep to and had enjoyed it for many years! I grew up in Dallas listening to KLIF. Enjoy your retirement Don lol From one of your local viewers lol

I met Ron Chapman when I was installing a light directly above his desk. He asked what I was doing and I said installing a recess can. He threw his hands up and said “I might as well go home,, much appreciated” as he shook my hand. Swell guy
I remember this, he was great.

Why would the state of Texas want to get rid of these beautiful cool colorful birds that don’t negatively impact native species but the state doesn’t do anything about all the European doves or starlings or grackles???! Leave the parakeets alone. They’re neat.
And they drive off more harmful species like pigeons.
Interesting body language between Jodie Dean and Craig T. (the young producer and on-air assistant, who was standing to Ron's right). Jodie and Craig did not get along and Craig was dropped when Jodie took over.
There will never be the likes of another Ron Chapman in Dallas-Fort Worth! Sadly, so much radio today is automated, voice-tracked or syndicated ... and the pay is a pittance. (Ron was MC for the Beatles two Dallas performances at Memorial Auditorium in 1964).
Updated: August 2022 ... morning show host Jeff Miles was let go and KLUV is now staffed by low-paid, low-level presenters. RIP KLUV.
I saw these birds at White Rock Lake In the early 1980s in that same electrical tower. It looked like they were building bird condos.
I saw 6 of these birds a Mesquite golf course . I was amazed .
I remember when she was small at the Racine wi Zoo 35 yrs ago before they moved Rasha. She is the sweetest elephant ever. She's all grown up now.

It sure doesn't pay to be busy.....I'd heard nothing as of last night and find this tonight. I grew up with Rock n Roll and Ron in Dallas. I hated when he retired but to lose KVIL is obscene. Somehow, I'm sure this will turn out to be Obama's fault.

Steven Leggett Sad to hear that! Did his passing have anything to do with elephant training? I've heard elephants can change moods on a dime and that working with them can be extremely dangerous.
DoogieDownProd Cancer took John from us on July 16, 2007. There was a elephant related death at the Fort Worth zoo while John was there though. Michael Bell was knocked down and stepped on. John ran to his aid but it was too late.

I just looked up pulsar on Wikipedia. It seems that the pulsars only blink for less than 100 million years. So the plusar map on the plaque will lose its meaning in about 50 millions for average. And earth will still be habitable for at least another 500 million years. So, if the map will direct some alien to earth, it will only be useful for a very short time. For 90% of our time that is left for us on earth, the plaque's pulsar map is not useful. And frankly, the complicated map may only confuse whoever picks up.
True. But also think about how primitive we are as a species. Any other life form that will be capable of detecting and safely retrieving the satellite should be able to make sense of the map. It may seem complicated to us but to another species that is millions of years older than us, it may be quite simple to figure out its meaning.
I would think that any other life form capable of detecting and retrieving the probe is already well aware of our existence and location. =)

These plaques bear a striking resemblance to ancient 'Egyptian' glyphs - I say that with inverted commas as I don't believe the Egyptians designed them - I think they evolved around them. I think they should be interpretted in exactly the same way these plaques are 'read' - by assuming none of the symbols are words. Please look at my Thesis: 'Pyramids = 'Miller-Urey Experiment' - @ 1:03:17 into 'The Mars Underground' (on the same playlist) they discuss how Mars could be terraformed this way.
