Adaptive Biking In Cowichan

I take Don Nesbitt for his first lap on Maple Mountains adaptive loop. It was a great ride with a few challenging spots, par for a Maple Mountain ride. Thanks to Nick from @RadDadBuilds for the camera work. Dons bike is a Reach made by @Bowhead . An amazing bike that's up for the challenge. These bikes are life changing for those that have them. More trail networks are creating adaptive rated t...

I Can't Believe This Trail Exists / Riding Creeper, Nanaimo
Просмотров 1,1 тыс.2 месяца назад
I can't believe this trail exists. It's called Creeper located in Nanaimo's trail network known as The Abyss. It's one of the coolest trails I have ever been on. What an amazing trail build. The rock work is like nothing else. The tunnel is pretty cool to ride through.

Upgrade? still waiting on the "upgrade" though.
Quadruple the engagement is an upgrade
Ty for that awesome trick
I have the Mini 2 SE and SDK isn´t out yet... Great Wheelies!!!
You know when a YTshort covers the full job you got an easy task. Only issue is that upgrade is 129.00. Still cheaper than a new wheel.
I was pretty shocked on the price. There is cheaper knock offs but I wasn’t willing to try them
Wow, Trevor , another good video of your favorite hobby.😊❤
I like fox's setup so much better lol. Even with the rubber pieces there, I thing there will be rub marks especially when dirt gets in between.
Are you talking about the fox fender?
Were you at maple mountain on Sunday?
Yes. Went for a ride with my son.
What trails did you ride?
💪
Where do you hide the nail now? This could work in situations, yes... a better option is turn a clamp around into a "pusher" set a couple screws above the T&G, use them to push the board into place. That leaves the tongue open to put your blind nail. Put two screws or one super heavy duty bolt as they will bend and you waste screws. Two does the trick 👍
Sweet video! I saw the adaptive signs a few rides ago, and thought, “Wicked!!! Looks like it is :)
Awesome video.
Thanks! It took me 30 hours to edit
Nice work on this video, thanks for doing that!
Thanks. There will be more. I can’t wait to ride with Don again
Awesome Video Thank you for sharing this!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great job Cowichan Trail Stewardship Society on making this trail adaptive
Im ordering my ebike this weekend! Im so excited, i like riding arount my town but it has quite a few big hills, especially on the way back home, and i have asthma, so i decided to get one of these :D
They are so much fun.
Are there any other 'Camping to derect Mountain #biking' opportunities in B.C. that you know about like Englishman river Fall offers?
I am not aware of any others like that. Campbell River has a few great trail networks that would be close to elk falls campground
Thanks. Why put those items in the fridge/freezer?
They are soft and sticky. Freezing them makes the backing peel off way easier
@@CowichanMTB Aha thanks !
if i order the mini of ebay will it come with the bolts??
@@Ryan55666it comes with the bolts and allen key. Some forks need an adaptor kit sold separately
That's crap!
That sucks, sorry to hear that!
How exactly does this work when you all start at the same time? People are in your way constantly?
They started in waves of 50-100 people. They are all similar paced riders. A lot of passing for sure. I am not a good climber so I was passed lots going up. Then I would be held up a bit on the downhills but passed when I could.
The Cinnamon trail on the other side of Richards is maintained and though its technical it's has flow for the less technical riders.
Do you think I could do this on let’s say a really long skinny log? Or some kind of trestle bridge? Or even a spiralled tower in the sky?
With enough practice you too, can become a wheelie master
The Townie sounds awful!
It’s the basket on the handlebars😂
So to control the wheelie on my e-bike I might have to disconnect the cut off switch from my rear brake so I can use the throttle and brake at the same time.😁 And I remember that first successful around the block wheelie.
Maybe you can figure out some dynamic braking and add a gyro so it does it for you
@@CowichanMTB probably the only way that this old guy could manage much of a wheelie.
This trail has been only list for a while now. I wish I was closer
The hand got me 😂
so .. did you jump across by bike?
Of course. I had some camera issues so the footage was garbage
Nanaimo is an abyss, surrounding area is nice though.
Little tip next time leave the old numbers on it to line the template up then install the lower fox sticker then take old numbers off and install new numbers makes it much easier
Thought you were going to drop in
I triple checked my camera mount before that one!
How deep?
Not sure
I got to ride this bike as a rental at my job in the xs and oh boy was this so much better than growler jr rocky mountain I rode for soo long. Nice bike.
Come back in another couple years and it will be longer with more crazy terrain. Also if you never tried it you should try TYCA next time. It's like a mini creeper and starts closer to the road. Best ridden North to South.
That’s great to hear. It’s such a unique area. Thanks for the recommendation
I enjoyed this trail on my Hardtail, with tubes not tubeless, I can ride to it from my house at Westwood. Super fun trail, I bet its even more fun with a softer bike. Somehow I didnt pedal strike on this one though. Crazy how your camara makes the intro rock roll look so tiny compared to what it actually is, must be a lens thing because that roll is alot bigger than what it showed.
Classic action camera effect. Everything looks pretty tame. They never show the steepness
I love that you are breaking out from the usual places. There's so many places to ride that we don't see on videos. Can you do a video at Cobble Hill next?
I will do one for sure. Any recommendations for trails?
@@CowichanMTB Buck and Snake. Apparently the harder trails are named after more dangerous animals and the easier trails are named after less dangerous animals. Squirrel and turtle are the easiest ones
Creeper was built by a local mountain biker Allan James! It’s such a gorgeous, and technical trail! So many amazing trails in that area!
Definitely a unique area. Allan did an amazing job
Definitely one of the hardest trails I've ever ridden. Even with an e-bike :-) It's also the most awesome trail I've ever ridden, even though I fell once (rock fell away when I put my foot down), endo'd once, and the boa on my shoe got ripped off by a rock. It was a good day :-) ruclips.net/video/wKeXilyIQwc/видео.html
I would love to ride that area on an eBike
I'm so glad you tried out those trails and couldn't agree more that they should be sanctioned as easy trails. Its a perfect spot for kids to learn. Its even a good place for us 'adult kids' to hone some skills, I ride there with my gravel bike. That area has the potential for more with the arena and parking there. Win-win.
Would that fit on a Trek Marlin 5 .
It depends on the fork
Ace pro looks amazing
is this in town off arnet?
Yes it is
I love phloem so much its one of my favorite trails on maple mountain
A Cowichan classic for sure
Agreed! Is this on the island?
Yes. Phloem on Maple Mountain
Cool do you make vids in Cumberland or Lapland?
I have done a couple in Cumby but only for last years bc bike race
I love those trails (milky way/ big dipper). I just rode them on the weekend with my grandkids. I could barely keep up with them, that really peeved me off - lol. 😊. HF trails are great. Lots of good memories there. Thx for sharing 😊
I know a lot of people that camp there then just zip down to Rathtrevor for a shower 👍
That would work
Looks like an ebike you are riding. Makes the brutal climb look easy! Only issue with Hammerfest, there's no decent climb up to the trails. The road is just a gravel pit, used by 4x4s and dirt bikers, and its completely unrideable, except for maybe your ebike. There's only really one good place to ride with kids, near the parking area for Englishman River campsite. The rest of it they will just complain about the hills. Upper trails above the road are gnar. Those are the real goods. Jughead rocks.
As I mentioned in the video there is a climb trail called barefoot. It was amazing. Also I am not riding an eBike.
The new “ish” climb trail Barefoot is awesome!
@@jenniferC7317sure is
To address your map concerns, Hammerfest just got sanctioned this year with Mosaic, and the first signs and kiosk are going in this fall! Can't help you with the showers though lol Thanks for crediting the Arrowsmith Cycling Club, they have put a lot of work into the trail system over the last 30+ years.
I figured it was in the works as the Milky Way area is great. They have done great work and I look forward to see what the future brings
@@CowichanMTB Ya, the Milky way area is in the park boundary and not on Mosaic land, hence the signage.
@@bubbysbikes thanks for the info!
Congrats
Thanks
I have the same sram gx 1x10 shifter and the barrel adjuster got turned to far one way yesterday, nowit won't move at all and can't shift to the 3 lowest gears. How do I get it to turn?
Woot! Congrats Trevor!
