Kubrick inspired animation for SEO event opening
We created a mixed-media opening animation for MozCon 2024, Moz’s annual SEO meeting; inspired by Kubrick’s classic movie “2001: A Space Odyssey.” In this animated video SEO cavemen discover Moz, kick-starting their evolution.

I’m posting 2 versions together: The exact same animation with different music tracks, a study of how music can change completely the tone of the final video. The Brief stated that it could be either touching or fun so we sent them both versions (touching is the Director’s cut BTW). I used @aescript ’s SF-Caddy for the limbs and mouth shapes...

Hey , I'm learning this Plug-in Duik ,but when I work on movement ,space start showing in between hands and legs
I think your problem is with auto-stretch, or at least sounds like it is. Select your hands/feet one by one and in the effects panel look for "Auto-stretch" and turn it off. Hope that's the answer!

How many hours does something like this take you?
I can’t remember exactly how many hours, but it took me about 2 and a half weeks to complete

Hey Larry, thanks for the kind words! I'm mostly a designer / animator but Nick commissioned this piece thanks to some previous work I'd done (mostly in the mixed media animation area). I based the piece in Dan Duncan's amazing character work for TMNT comics, so kudos to him! I just checked your channel and there's A LOT of interesting stuff so I can see where I'll spend.the following hours (will not be a productive day, I can see). Thanks again!

@@pinngg6907 Lol, yes, this was a teaser trailer for an internal online academy to be used by the employees of a global Fortune 500 company (sorry but I can't tell who) . But yes, the academy does share the name with a certain game developer.

Hi, it’s basically a layer by layer comp. then I used some white shape layers for the lights, added fast blur and set them to add. There’s a smoke layer too to simulate dust and finally added some color correction to simulate nighttime. Hope that helps!

Hi amd thanks for commenting. Unfortunately I don't have much free time to create a tutorial, but I can tell you there's a little bit of Trapcode Form and Newton plugins involved plus a lot of regular AE keyframe / expression animation. Best!
How to make the brain in the beginning? Is there any plugins?
Yup, I used trapcode form and a 3D model of a brain I did in C4D
