What a beautiful hat! I am thinking about learning machine knitting. Your creations really inspire me. Thanks!
Love this! How many stitches need to be in foundation / sides for the mushroom border to match up with the base piece?
This is a multiple of 6 plus 1. It is covered in the video along with other pointers to turn the corners. I appears at about 1 minute and 45 seconds on this video also.
Lovely! What's the math on the foundation row or number of stitches for the base piece so that the mushrooms line up?
That foundation should be a multiple of 6 plus 1. That info is covered at about 1minute and 45 seconds in the video under foundtation pointers.
I’m so confused about you saying for row 3 just do a single all the way around but for row 4 put 2 over the stitch marker. Because we also put two single right before row 3. So are you saying put 2 single crochet over the gussel in row 4? (I’m on first row of blue)
One marker is at the beginning of the row and one under the gusset. On row 3, by working 1 sc in each stitch there are no increases. But on Row 4, you are placing an increase over the marker that is a few rows below. This is where the gusset will be developed as you proceed on.
So, we only have to 'turn' the first two rounds?
You need to turn every round.
Is there a way to create something similar at the end of the knitted piece?
I'm working on figuring that out and will have another video soon!
I need this for those babies 😊! Thank you
Plus, they are so much fun to make!
@TwistedYarns easy peasy and adorable 😍
Hello, what size is the socket screwdriver you use to remove the needle beds? Thx, Paolo
I believe it is a 5.5mm box spanner. A box spanner is different from a socket. It is narrow all the way down to the end and fits thru certain parts of the Passap to reach the nuts. You can get this tool from Michael Becker at Distinctive Knits. You may also be interested in his book "Be Your Own Passap Paramedic" It is excellent. Also if you are working on a Passap Pinkie or DM-80 (green), the tool may be a slightly different size but the principle is the same.
Thanks! I don't know why such useful videos haven't shown up before when I searched for info on my new old bulky knitter!
I'm glad you found it helpful! I love to share my techniques and patterns for the benefit of others.
What size hook…that so pretty
H hook for worsted weight or 4 ply cotton
I loved this tutorial but I so wish you had done two more rounds to show more of the places to turn. Also how to connect to the color change as you complete the round. Do you have written patterns or a more extensive tutorial?
The written pattern can be found at this link: twistedyarns.com/patterns/moss-stitch-rectangle/
Here's the link to another video I did on changing colors in the corner. Perhaps this will shed more light on the subject: ruclips.net/video/NGdEZEskVeE/видео.htmlsi=dXZPHBj6c3HMvkgP
Thank you for this tutorial, I have never heard anyone speak so clearly, you must have a good brain, I would be stuttering, and be putting a lot of umms and ars in it.
Editing helps a lot! But don't tell anyone!
Thank you very much for the tutorial, l must say how clear you speak, makes it easier to understand.

You're welcome! Glad you found the edging easy!
You have stopped my heart.
I developed this technique over 50 years ago when I was restoring an antique afghan. I'm just thankful that RUclips allows me to share my thoughts, techniques and patterns to help others. Besides I hate frogging and see real accomplishment go down the drain!
Great video, thank you! Bought the pattern and can't wait to try it. Where can I get a steamer like that?
That's a Conair steamer. Just picked that one up at a resale shop. There are many steamers on the market that work just fine and you don't need to spend a fortune.
@@TwistedYarns Thanks!
Love this! Where can I buy one of these garter plates? Having trouble finding them online. Are they called something else?
I call these stopper plates but the formal name is needle stoppers. I purchased mine 9mm and 6.5mm ones from Kriskrafter.com. For the standard bed (4.5 mm), they come as part of the garter bar set. These can be found on ebay also. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for this... so helpful

Is there anything to be done to avoid the holes between the rib and stockinet?
This version of the mock rib reduces the holes. If you do a classic mock rib, its faster but the holes are even more pronounced.
Do you have a beginner machine knitted sweater pattern with RUclips video for sale..?
Thanks for watching! I love to get suggestions from my viewers for new videos! Are you looking to make it for a man, woman, girl, boy or baby? Pullover or cardigan with buttons? Let me know and I will see what I can do! Right now, I have one called the Easy Toddler Pullover. @@TwistedYarns I am looking to make one for myself woman size and it does not matter if it is pull over or cardigan style. I just want to start machine knitting, so I am looking for something easy. Thanks kindly
I've been working on one but I did not know if there was any interest! Soon!
@TwistedYarns is it possible for a beginner machine knitter to use your patterns on a standard gauge machine?
This pattern could be converted to use on a standard gauge machine. How to do this is more a matter of calculating the gauge. Let me see what I can come up with to make the conversion easier. I also have a video on tension and swatching that may be of interest to you call How to Machine Knit Tension and Gauge Swatches. Here's the link: ruclips.net/video/AfgY2Bsq498/видео.html
This design is wonderful and very modern. I'll be buying it soon.

Love the bowl cozy moss stitch pattern, where can I find the written instructions?
Here is the link to the pattern: twistedyarns.com/patterns/moss-stitch-bowl-cozy/
What size needle plate do I order for the needle plate?
The Lk needs a 6.5mm plate.
How do I determine what size garter stitch bar to order for the LK150 knitting machine?
It's based on the machine. The LK is a 6.5 mm machine.
Doesn't the sharp edges on the cross bar pick at the yarn and make snags?
I have not found this to be a problem.
@@TwistedYarns have you used a piece and adjusted the strap much??
Yes. Wear and tear is really dependent on the fibers of the yarn. Choose hard yarns like nylon and hard wools.
@@TwistedYarns Not a novice, fully aware. I have tried this style on tight knitted cottons, nylon and other hard yarns. I crochet VERY tightly too, especially straps. I have found that these pick with much use and so have many of my friends. hmmm
I went back to your first comment and realized, my crossbars are not sharp at all. That may be a consideration. However, I'm interested to know if you have a suggestion for improving this?
I have a kx395 and evry day i am knitting So greatfull for pur videos Tank you❤❤❤

What if you don’t have a ribber I just have a mid gauge machine a studio 360 is it still possible to do this
If you do not have a ribber, you can reform stitches to make ribbing but on this pattern, it would be tedious. However, here is a link for another video How to Machine Knit the Rainbow Mock Rib Cap. ruclips.net/video/riVYQeHSQaM/видео.html This is a fast and easy pattern for those without ribbers. Although this video features a child's cap, the pattern includes caps for all sizes! Pick colors that are suitable!
Are you looking to make a cap for a man or woman?
Love this and the enhanced sc, which I’ve never heard of
I just found this video. Thank you. I see that the threading is similar to threading the old two color gc for brother machines. I need to play with my Passap plaiting device.
Thanks for the information about 2-color GC! I just acquired one and haven't even looked at it yet! Woo Hoo. Sounds like fun!
Hi! Thank you so much, this video will save my ongoing scarf!! How do you handle the open end after the fix? Thanks a lot 😊
When you cut the first row, if you mean how to handle the couple of inches before the cut, then you just pick out the stitches and then replace them as part of the fix. This gives you 2 yarn tails at both ends. Weave them in. If you mean how do you finish the edge after it is replaced, well, you can do any kind of edging. Scallops or shells, picot, reverse sc or whatever you desire. Once it is fixed (replaced) it is ready for anything. Watch my video "Four Easy Picot Borders" at this link: ruclips.net/video/nrtVqnvQb6Q/видео.html Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks for viewing!
A million thanks for this great tutorial. Such an eye-opener! I just wanted to share a tip that worked very well for me. I started on a large rug (210x130 centimetres), and was planning to make it as one single moss-stitch rectangle using your method. However, as my rectangle increased in size, I noticed that the short sides tended to be a bit narrower than the overall width as measured across the middle. The difference was a good centimeter. It seemed that the corners were slightly too tight which caused tension. I ripped up the whole thing and started over, using the following workaround: Every other round, do the corners according to the video, i.e SC, CH2, SC in the 2-chain corner space. Every other round, SC2, CH2,SC2 in the 2-chain corner space. My corners are now a perfectly 90 degrees, and the width of my work is consistent all over. The extra bulk provided by the extra stitches in alternate rounds seems to compensate for the tightness of the regular rounds. I am using 4 strands of cotton yarn 8/4 and a 4.5 mm hook.
Hmmm...I give it a go!
Many thanks for responding, and, again thanks for the tutorial. The double-yarn foundation chain sure makes all the difference for stability!
Thanks a lot I hardly knitted one side of the sweater and it was short and couldn’t undo😅❤❤❤ this is revolution for people like me
Great job! True confession time. The reason I did the video is because I'm just like everyone else and LOL I must have been in a brain fog and made a sweater for my grandson too short! Thought perhaps my mistake could benefit others!
