This is not predator proof. We purchased two and had a dog rip through the wire on both. We lost our entire flock.
@helenevicente6654 oh no! That's horrible. That must have been a pretty determined dog to break through the hardware cloth exterior.
Thank you for your review...I bought this for a brooding hen with 17 chicks. This coop is contained in a larger area when the chicks are ready. I put the coop over hardware cloth, because we have snakes. I think the price is fair for a temporary brooder or hospital coop in a free range flock.

Hey, duck man i would really love to know what kind of treats are the best for my yellow duckies, love your content, thank you
@@LADYOVERHERE mealworms are my #1 treat. You can buy them at tractor supply or online. Ducks love them!!
I have one and I loved it! Luckily, I bought it already built from Tractor Supply, it was on display. The only negative is that it’s small therefore I would say 3 or 4 chickens would be there comfortably, not 6. Also, the roosting bars is a bit narrow so I replaced it with another piece of wood. Cleaning was a pain because it’s so low so I lifted it onto concrete blocks so I can easily and quickly clean underneath. For a starter coop, positive experience. Good point about the hinges!
@@rzamora619 I still have it and yeah, this coop works great and holds up well!
Yo thats the chick i lost 3 years ago and the chick i got was the only one in the earth
Yes very normal
Thank you for this..dumb question but how does it create suction to pull the water out? I found it on amazon but it doesnt really specify..im so excited for this❤
@Amerc04 when you attach your hose and turn it on it creates suction.
Mine reject boops on snoots, but they desperately want chin rubs for some reason
how hot does the mode of warmth have to be? i just hatched them today, and they don’t look so good with the temp
@xandercohen9466 if you're using the heat plate from tractor supply, the "heater" setting is hotter than the "brooder" setting so if you're worried about temp then switch the setting to heater. Also, lower the legs so they can get right under the plate and basically touch the plate.
@@The_Duck_Man i wasn’t referring to the plate, i got a 100 W light bulb, and was kinda panicking because i was kinda clueless. just came to an expert for help. i should’ve specified what i was using.
@xandercohen9466 I see, well one thing that would help is to order a couple cheap digital thermostats off Amazon and place that where your bulb is shining. You ideally want the quail to be at 95-99 degrees under the lamp right after hatching.
@@The_Duck_Man kinda did a DYI and put an ear thermometer near the ground where the light would be hitting them at an angle for a couple seconds and it said 99.0 degrees on the spot
@xandercohen9466 you're all good then, they'll be plenty warm
I have brought 6 adult egg laying female khakhi campbell, but they never let me touch them they start flying all around the coop even when im trying to feed them. I don't know how I can tame them. They are really Wild!
@libinstanly1947 I'm sorry to hear! Getting them at adulthood is going to be the hardest to deal with. You have to make consistent effort to spend time with them. It will probably take months to get them comfortable with you.

My duck sleeps in my bed with me...
@@BaconWraith-e9c that's wild. Must be messy??
So, I had all kinds of supplies just from people giving me stuff throughout time. Never knew I would end up with ducks, but I got 3 baby pekins for my birthday 💛💛💛. About a week into it one of them died 😢 I do not know what happened 💔. The other two ducks are doing great as far as I can tell. They have grown like weeds and they are turning white 🤍 😊. They have a really nice chain link pen area, it was originally for a dog that I kept for my daughter. So i already had a small shed/ club house/ dog house lol. I cleaned it out. I have two plastic milk crates and I bought two of the $5 black plastic boot trays from Walmart. Even though they are not supposed to have towels, I put one in the milk crates and they sleep in there. I will eventually go to straw for their bedding. I use the boot trays to set their food on, it catches stuff that might fall. I only use one milk crate and one boot tray at a time so I always have an extra to switch it out while cleaning the other. I check them every morning and I change out the trays, their bedding and poop scoop. oh, I was also blessed with a huge role of pet carpet. I knew someone that worked at a place and they were able to get me that. I was using that carpet for something different to start off with but, now that I have the carpet and the ducks I put that down so that they are not pooping all over the wood in their house. The carpet has a black rubberized backing and the carpet is very thin. It washes off really easy and dries quickly. I had bought one of those gallon size water dispensers at first, but, I watched a video and saw where someone used a clear plastic tote from Walmart. I'm using the size that's a little bigger than a shoebox. Anyway you drill holes in the side. This allows them to stick their heads in there, drink, clean their mouths, nose and eyes, but they don't make the water mess. I change the water out every morning and every evening when I come home from work. I watch a lot of videos and I've been learning from the videos and also just from doing. I'm also building them a bigger home. I had some scrap wood from doing different projects throughout time so I've had to buy very little material so far. Their home will be 12'l x 7'w x7'h... I'm trying to make it easy on myself and nice for them. I wish I knew how to post pictures on here I would. I would think that by now my ducks are about 23 days old, I watched the video where a man showed his ducks from day one to 45 days and I believe my ducks are about 23 days old. The ducks don't have a sphincter so yes they poop everywhere😁🤷🏻♀️. I have a big trash can lined with a bag, a pooper scooper 👍. I know we have winter weather coming , plus the rain so I am using my stepping stones to make path ways to different areas in their pen. I know they will poop all over them that's okay, it will at least keep me out of the mud 👍. I am 59 year old woman and I have to say the ducks are really keeping me busy but I love them already ❤🙌.
@@rhondahunnel7112 ducks are amazing!! Glad you are enjoying them!
🤪🥴 slow the camera down.

This is a good review, but I want to add a couple of things. We got ours as a first coop also, but we never used it except when we were cleaning out our larger pen and would put the chickens in here temporarily. The floor of the inside part of the coop actually comes out as a pan and can be washed off. Just below the door that you had opened you can slide out the pan. This can happen on both sides of the coop. Usually, we clean out the chopped straw or wood shavings from the door part and then pull the pan out to wash it. The nesting boxes are more difficult to clean. Unless there is a fair amount of shavings or straw on them. What we have done is gotten the artificial grass mats, and we lay them in the boxes. We change them out every couple days. They’re very easy to clean and they’re soft and the chicken seem to like them. We also put hardware cloth on the bottom flooring so predators could not dig underneath. However, on either side just under the doors on the top portion where the pan pulls out there is a space a snake could get in there depending on where you live so we put an extra piece of hardware cloth on either side. We’ve had our coop for three years. It does not have ventilation, but now that I’ve seen yours, I may look into it. Currently we use it for a brand new rooster that we got. He will be in there for quarantine for about two weeks and then moved into the larger coop. This way he’ll be able to be close to the other chickens without actually having contact with them until they get to know him. We also plan to use this coop with the baby chickens. They will be able to stay in the main coop safely while in this little coop and still be near the other chickens. We agree with your idea to put the coop inside of a larger coop, and not keep chickens in it permanently 24/7. It is a very tiny coop and I would never put more than three chickens in it at a time for any long period of time. Also the size does not give you the opportunity for you to interact with your chickens. The most important thing I want to say is this: the slanted part of the roof has stayed fine, but the two flatter ends - one on each end - literally rotted away. We have had to replace the boards on both sides and put new roofing material over each to keep them from getting wet. Once we did this, it looked fine, but I agree for the price that you pay you would think that the coop roof would have held up better. Also, I believe Tractor Supply may be selling this for about $400 now. We built a chicken coop for a chicken with scrap wood and other scrap materials, painter it and we like it much better because it is larger and it still does the same job with a lot more room.
@@populargsquad9449 great points, thank you for adding them!

I don’t think I’ll ever trust emu’s that well. There’s always exceptions to everything sure, but every large bird I’ve seen in person is incredibly aggressive and would treat your fingers as tasty sausages lol.
@sarteron haha, they're definitely intimidating at first, but emus are typically very docile. I've never seen them try to attack a human in the year+ that I've had them. I definitely wouldn't suggest becoming complacent though. If you cornered them, they could feel threatened and kick out with their massive talons.
@@The_Duck_Man Hm, I’d imagine that the ones I’ve come across then probably weren’t maintained on a personal level and weren’t acclimated to humans properly. I’ve only interacted with ostrich/emu/ cassowaries at zoo’s/ safari zones that seem to prefer my hand over the food that you’re supposed to throw/put in their feeding box. Animals usually seem to like me as much as I like them even if completely wild, but large birds so far in my life have been my personal exception haha. I’m sure you have plenty more experience with those emu’s though so I’ll take your word for it and assume I’m just personally hated by the avians lol.
@sarteron lol well there's also a big difference between emus vs. Rheas, ostriches, and cassowaries. Cassowaries are extremely dangerous, and rheas and ostriches can be aggressive (especially males). Emus are probably the most docile of the ratites.
@@sarteron but you also still need to be on your guard around large birds like these, even emus. I'm sure wild ones are more skittish/less friendly
