u are not an expert on this... peter gives logical information and clues that may lead to the right results...which is not definitely urs... debunking his theory by coming up with made up claims about old hungarian is unethical...lets say,everything u claim is correct,and hungarian as well as turkic came from far far east asia,how come,anatolian languages,and vocabulary,even old greek and persian is so similiar in structure,even most words? u cant answer this question,because old turkic and hungarian stretches far far back even before 10000 bc,which included asia minor and the caucasus region most probably,because the sentence structure of asia hasnt changed for thousands of years... the more i find out that old persian,old greek resembles old turkic and hungarian,i come to think,that once these languages were more united and connected in the past than now... how was that possible? most probably asia minor,old anatolian languages were a bridge to old greek...

I explained the same to him when he posted his research and conclusions, that the geography makes it close to impossible that the Minoans would have spoken a Uralic language. However, there is more to it. An analysis of Cretan placenames that I had read showed that different languages were spoken on the island at least one of them Indo-European.

This is probably the most niche thing I've ever watched

When I was studying linguistics in college, I heard repeatedly about what an incredible breakthrough Michael Ventris had had when he deciphered Linear B--and that was thirty years after it had happened. I believe it was in 2012 that I was watching an episode of the PBS TV show "Nova" about Minoan archaeology when, at the very end of the show, the narrator tossed out, in a blithe manner as possible, that Linear A had been deciphered. I was like, "WHAT?!?!?!" If it were true, I knew it would be a huge discovery. I tried finding it on the internet--which was a much bigger chore back in 2012 than it would be today. What I learned was that there was some bogus theory that it was some form of ancient Persian--but in order to get it to work, they had had to invent names of all kinds of gods that no one had ever heard of before. Yeah, no one's taking that proposal seriously.

As a story structure I can see this being a little confusing, but I think there's definitely an argument to be made that it would make the structure more engaging. Unlimbering the stories from each other would probably make the problem is canonical endings less prominent I suppose.

This was great! I do love so many of the choices they made in the cutscenes for these games. Cinematically they're very solid and I love that they had the courage to make shots like this with graphics that weren't necessarily the highest fidelity relative to what we expect now in AAA games. It definitely makes a lot of these scenes punch about their weight and I can see why they're remember so fondly by so many people. Thanks for the video! <3

While a sequel/prequel of the order would be awesome, I wanna see someone do a spinoff called “HalfBreeds” or something, where you see things from a different prospective. You play as an Elder Halfbreed and you have to do missions to advance the goals of your species while fighting for survival against the Order. It would be awesome if it was open world where you can explore the city of London, staying in human form and blending in until it was time to strike. I know what I just said is easier said than done but still

In the crashed sentinel factory there is a unique needler wielding sentinel that will attack you. A pretty small and easy to miss but interesting encounter in my opinion.

First, an excellent point about both the Prophets and the Elites only truly hitting that critical juncture, not when their faith is directly challenged, but when their sociopolitical status is directly threatened. Truth's name is peak irony because truth doesn't mean shit to him. Overall this is the best part of Halo lore imo. It is so much more terrifying to me that a major alliance of spacefaring species is being manipulated into committing genocide simply because those in control are terrified of losing their position than the alternative reason of genuine holy war. It's one thing to be caught up in religious fervor and to commit evil out of genuine fear, even if it's ridiculous, but the idea of an inner circle political effort subverting their own beliefs to cover up a truth that would naturally supplant them is something that as a kid made me feel very uneasy, and now as an adult is my greatest fear in America. I can absolutely see a theocracy being implemented in this country and its upper echelon of leadership being fully aware that it's mostly bullshit and just a convenient way to eliminate any and all opposition. I don't want another civil war, but I would absolutely condone and participate in violence against any faction or coalition that would drive this country into some archaic and/or nationalist bullshit.

Bungie's Halo games overall really never get talked about as critiques of theocracy. Great video.

All of this tracks for me, for sure. Part of the appeal is certainly nostalgia, but Battlefront 1 also runs into that subset of games that just seem to know what they want to be and execute that vision well. Sid Meier's: Pirates! is like that for me too. Just a good game with a modest scope that knows what it wants to be and does it well.

For example, lets look at the two main protagonists and the roles that bungie gave them. Arbiter: one protagonist has the player overthrowing abject "usurpers" (i.e., the "arbiter" being the soul that "judges" the "covenant" because of the evils that have 'usurped' their original promises, most important of which being a general responsibility for prosperity for their peope) in a redemption story Chief: John, 117. A messenger of god. 1:17 is an innuendo to mix Moses (the man that splits the water...calls back to Noah indirectly, savior of the flood...cmon now) and Jesus (humanity's savior that performed miracles beyond our comprehension) Chief is blessed with no other skill than "luck" in series, another innuendo to his place being higher in the universe than those around him ('Divine' * "foresight" * or *blessings* if you will) I havent watched your video but i appreciated your thumbnail, ive always loved the topic, and if you'd ever like to talk deeper about this subject it is DEEP in lore and other esoteric stuff - both in universe and in our real world. If you'd like to talk about this stuff I love this topic and would share mire in the future.
