Despised in some quarters in wales for crossing codes. But he did it to secure his family financially. Any father would do the same. The last of the great Welsh fly halves. What a try for Great Britain at Wembley against the Kangaroos

The dance, chip and chase ones for Wales RU around 0.48 and 0.57 don’t half remind me of the Bevan French efforts against Leigh and Hull KR recently for Wigan. Can’t coach stuff off the cuff ability like that

It pains me that his best rugby years were in rugby league, what a talent Welsh rugby union lost. On the plus side I find it funny how he makes top professional players look foolish. I was lucky enough to go to the same school and play for the same club as him and witness him play for many years. Right up there with the best players I have ever seen in any code.

Not after an argument but Watkins, Fielding at Salford, Bevan to the Wires, Scott Gibbs to Saints, Inga ( whats his name ) to Wigan. Yer Jiffy just pips Gibbs 🙂

I saw him play “live” many many times. He was magical to watch just like Offiah and for different reasons Kurt sorenson. My Widnes lads of the early 90s were amazing to watch but Wigan had that Indian sign o er us as did Leeds sometimes. I loved the premiership final against Bradford northern which I watched from one of the best old standing areas ever created the old old Trafford paddock. Wonderful times. Wonderful player. Thanks Jonathan.

You hear this Bull dust , players Of Yesteryear , Phillip Bennett , Gareth Edwards , would Not make It today , well that blow out the park Look at Davis , he not Big but Class Is Class any Era , the modern Training Would just make them Better , and they We're real men who held down real Jobs JPR Williams , played rugby for his country Then work as a Doctor , I know this He set my Brothers arm after he broke it After playing for Wales two Days before 1976 I think long time ago ,

While Phil Bennet for me was the greatest flyhalf.. Davis was the complete player, turn a game in an instant.. some of his touch finders from the old wales days were sublime…

  • @fattywagon8725

a few years in league made him better, fitter and sharper. but 10 years was too much

if union had stopped all the nonsense(when were the all blacks amateur?) and gone pro a few years earlier, he would have gone back immediately. you would then have seen him at his best. he would have been the greatest. when he went back, by his own admission, he was past it. shame. he belonged on the biggest stage, and league was never going to give him that.

Pure magic. John, Edwards, Bennet and Davies. Jeez, Wales were blessed with mercurial players. These guys could not only control a game, but also were spectacular in attack. You just don’t get that in modern rugby players these days.

Such a gifted player and intelligent TV commentator and pundit. One of my favourite Welsh rugby players - his try against the Kangaroos where he ran around Bret Mullins was one of the best, Mullins was frequently doing that to opposition players himself (he was freakishly fast) and for someone to do it against him was inconceivable.

The best ever. You can argue Barry John, Dan Carter and a few others... But imagine this beast playing behind the Forwards those two were gifted with. Jiffy proved his worth when he went to RL (to the eternal shame of the small minded Narcissists of the WRU).. In good teams, Jonathon Davies was unplayable. Then.... off to Australia he pops.... "Nah warries sport, we'll put this drongo in traction" said the Aussies ...They couldnt get near him
