I will say that while it is today massively better than it was when I was young, I had heard of things like ADD, ADHD and autism but I had never heard of neurodiversity until just a couple years back when my sister, who was (and still is) in a GT program at her school, brought it up over dinner; and even then I still thought it was fake for a good while. (Yes that was in my edgy 13 year old right wingers phase, I've grown up) Not proud of that, but I think that goes to show that even now, neurodiversity in an educational setting deserves far more recognition and normalization than it currently gets.

I grow up in Japan and I'm severely dyslexic. I didn't have any support in school and still only a few ppl know what dyslexia is. I wish I had support or understanding like she had! Hope we'll have more educators who like you guys in Japan!
