    idk man, direct drive seems too much torque input on the servo gears, thats why you have the setup thats current to increase torque pressure at the aileron flaps whatever increasing precision on throws you still need gear reduction to have more force onto the surfaces to turn the airplanes when they are moving fast. however its very interesting but unecessary.

      The gearbox inside the servo has a 6-stage gearbox to increase torque. I feel like the issue among hobbyists is more about obsession than performance. by the way, this coupling has its application and is not meant to replace everything. Thanks for your comment. ♥

    Так можно поступать, если орган управления имеет достаточную жëсткость на кручение. В противном случае на скорости мы можем получить флаттер и лишиться этих органов управления. Сервоприводы начали ставить в крыло, а потом в оперение (когда они стали маленькими) именно для того, чтобы распределить нагрузку кручения по длине органа управления. Раньше, момент передавали через качалки, тяги и торсионы, в то время, все знали, что такое флаттер. Сейчас есть более изящные решения, например торсион в середине крыла.

    • @dynamixsystems
      @dynamixsystems 25 дней назад

      Да, в данном случае я использовал трубки из углеволокна диаметром 3 мм, и на этой длине он не перекручивался, а это тоже способствовало прочности конструкции. Спасибо за ваш комментарий.

  • @matteoricci9129
    @matteoricci9129 Месяц назад

    If the plane is 3d printed the coupler could included be in the moving surface

    • @dynamixsystems
      @dynamixsystems 25 дней назад

      The coupler and the control surface can be printed in one piece when its axis is placed directly on the servo output during installation. But most of the time, the trailing edges of fins and wings are not thick enough to accommodate the servo inside them.

  • @lohikarhu734
    @lohikarhu734 Месяц назад

    With 3d printing, you could easily build a small gear, or belt drive, "reducer", instead of the usual "horn" setup.

  • @greg0063
    @greg0063 Месяц назад

    You said external and a liability to damage at the same time showed an essentially high quality heavy duty bulletproof adjustable post, servo and horn. What you are doing mught be good for lightweight stuff but scale up and your method is going to nee heavy duty precise expensive servos. Also your method does not allow the mechanical resolution adjustment (already mentioned but very important). Still great work developing what you are doing it definitely has it's place and im sure will be incorporated into modern 3d printed scratch builds. Also the video was pretty well done.

    This is ONE of the solutions and it does not REPALCE taditional linkages. Definitely has its uses and I have used similar setups of direct drive. The degree of MECHANICAL fine tuning can be one of the many things to be considered ! The usermust evaluate all pros and cons for the given application. a redo can prove quite the b!#ch. • @txkflier
    @txkflier Месяц назад

    The problem is that a servo needs to rotate between 40 and 45 degrees either side of center while the surface may only need to deflect 20 degrees. If you turn the servo travel down to 50% in your transmitter, you’re decreasing the resolution by 50%. That’s not a good trade.

    • @dynamixsystems

      @Andy-df5fj Месяц назад

      @@Mikeylikesit1968 What does turbine guys using this on their elevators and rudders have to do with me being 100% wrong about many models needing less than 100% throw? I presume you realize that turbine guys typically have big wallets that can buy radios with electronically adjustable throws? Many people fly cheap and require a mechanical ratio reduction since they can't reduce the throws via the radio and many servos have 90° of rotation which would split to 45° each way on the control surfaces. That's too much throw for many models.

    • @Mikeylikesit1968
      @Mikeylikesit1968 Месяц назад

    • @dynamixsystems
      @dynamixsystems Месяц назад

      Hi👋 As I mentioned, at 01:35 the torque will remain the same unless you change the ratio of horns to something than 1:1, and with this coupler, it's always 1:1. Thanks for your comment. ♥

    • @scottyh72
      @scottyh72 27 дней назад

      @Mikeylikesit1968 Actually you are wrong. With a linkage, you can set rate and differential and travel. One to o e loses the torque multiplication through leverage. Reducing travel in the radio reduces resolution. You could probably differential with curves, but why?

  • @alexmcmeekin2658
    @alexmcmeekin2658 Месяц назад

    It must be remembered that most models don't use a 1-1 servo horn ratio, and gain both torque and precision at the expense of speed. This is essential for models that have high speeds and loads. If you use direct drive like this on a fast or highly surface loaded model you will need to choose a very high spec servo(and therefore expensive). For lighter and slower models this method is great for it's simplicity.

      Stunt planes solve that whit a leading edge part on the moving flap. it acts like powerd steering . the leading edge will naturally pull the other way so less power needed on the control surface. Most of the time the controll surfaces looks like a L shape where the food is the leeding edge part. Even a lot of ship rudders are used like that so they dont need heavy steering power.
