I was fortunate to climb this pyramid on 2006 jusy prior to its closure. It's a beautiful view from the top step but gets scarier the closer to the edge that you get.
I climbed it in the year 2000 when it was still allowed and at the very top is the chamber where human sacrifices were made to appease the gods.. it was dark and eerie up there with a very heavy vibe, no lie.
Someone fell in 2006, They closed it after that. I went in the early 2000's and climbed the pyramid and went into the chambers like thousands of others did that day. These people probably have no idea that you used to be encouraged to climb the pyramid, Now they beat you with sticks.. smh

Because there are rules in place now. For one imagine the injuries and lawsuits if people fall etc. And btw that has happened in the past many people falling. Also it’s in place to protect the pyramid and keep it in good shape, Since it is now the 7th World Wonder.
When he got to the top you it’s crazy how small he looked. Makes you take into account how tall the structure is. It’s not allowed but many of us wish we could experience that. Imagine how horrifying and amazing to be standing there on top of that glorious structure - taking everything in and thinking about those poor sacrifices and what they may have seen in their final moments.
I was there in 97 when you could still be trusted not to be a dumb fuck and fall and break your stupid neck. Those stairs are so tall with very little place for your feet. It makes sense but at the same time kind of a shame that you can’t go up anymore. It’s a truly breathtaking experience knowing where you are and how small we all are. Stupid tourists piss me off because of things like this.
