Young Horse: Move the Hip for that First Ride
Just some quick ground work to prepare this youngster for his first ride. If I ride in a halter (because he still has caps), I need to have some control in case he gets away on me.
I teach him to move the hip from halter pressure.

Young Horse: Lunge Training in Winter
Просмотров 12221 час назад
I used my phone to video this session due to winter weather and setting up cameras with batteries and tripods. My phone video kept turning off for some reason. It was -4C and I was working with one hand on the phone and the other on the line. It was a short session just to see that the youngster is progressing and understanding the task. Nonetheless, he did well. He's such a good boy!

Hoof Pickup with an Anxious Youngster - From Beginning to End
Просмотров 227Месяц назад
Watch how this 2-year-old gelding learns to pick up his feet. He is very anxious at the beginning of the session and even rears to avoid giving his feet, but by the end of our session he is calm and has learned the process. I give him a pre-cue by touching the point of his shoulder to warn him what is coming and this helps to prepare him mentally. We also give him several mental breaks througho...
Young Horse: Chaos of Wind and Separation - Keeping Him Focussed
Просмотров 66Месяц назад
I picked the best day to do a mounting block session with the young QH gelding. It was incredibly windy, tarps were flapping in the background and horses were running around distracting our youngster while I was working with him. These are actually good scenarios to teach a horse to focus. Real life happens. He needs to learn how to focus when chaos is happening around him. The young QH gelding...

Young Horse: Third Lunge Session
Просмотров 632 месяца назад
In our third lunge session, we can see that this young gelding has learned something from our previous short session. His ability to hold the circle has improved. We now need to strengthen his understanding of voice commands to keep him moving forward on the "walk" command. And then begin working on transitions from walk to whoa.
Young Horse: Second Lunge Session
Просмотров 932 месяца назад
The 3-year-old QH gelding is beginning to understand how to lunge in his second lunge session. I continue to work with him on a long lead line, pushing his shoulder out on the circle and cueing him to walk forward. He is used to being led in-hand so it's natural for him to want to walk close to me. I keep the session short and quit when I see that he is walking out on the circle with more indep...
Young Horse: First Lunging Session
Просмотров 1632 месяца назад
Today we worked on learning to lunge, at the walk, because he is still young. We began with moving the hip in both directions, and then moving the shoulder in both directions. Then directing him around me with a leading hand and asking him to keep his shoulder out on the circle. He did well for his first session.

I remember her! It is so beautiful to see with the photos at the end that she finally learned how to load. Viele Grüsse! - J
She walked in on her own after our sessions. There was no food in the trailer. She just went in and stood inside. Her owner was surprised and had to take photos.
Looking good

Oh yes, he is absolutely a good boy! 😍
He's the sweetest boy!
Cool!
Blue is still here🥰
Her way works very well. I have nothing bad to say about it but just wanted to say the way we train our horses is leaving the trailer with them in the pasture for about a week. Let them smell it. Let them on their own step in
Always making it look easy.
That donkey is so cute!
He certainly is!
Nice video.
If your horse has loading problems, you should defenitely check out her online course. She's a very good trainer, I've watched her training and it's amazing to see what she can do with a horse. Even if you think your horse is more difficult than others, it's probably not. She has seen and trained so many horses and eventually, they all loaded. So go and check out her online course!
Let's go Boo-Boo!🎉❤
thats cool
Thank you! Please share.
Thank you, Julia!
I'm so proud of you!!!❤ Greetings from far away (you know from whom...)
Haflingers are named after the little town of Hafling in South Tyrol, formerly in Austria, ever since WW I in Italy. There is no l in front of the f. I had three Haflingers over the years, can't say that they were stubborn. It all depends on how they were raised.
Thank you for catching that! I have edited the text. I have owned 2 Haflingers years ago and they both were wonderful horses.
That's a rather large haflinger 😯 Pretty though! Is it true they're stubborn?
I don't generalize on a breed. I think this is a case of the horse not knowing how or not feeling safe with people.
@@solutionstohorseproblems5858 okay. I worked on a horse ranch for about a year and a half and my boss told me I didn't want to haflinger because they were stubborn... Good to know they are individuals & it probably depends on how they are treated/trained👍🏻
@@solutionstohorseproblems5858 Trust is everything
😳
Wow
Really good lesson. Cute how the other horse photobombed the video.
Thank you!
Around 1.30 she went to put her head down to investigate and you stopped her.
I did not stop her. I just followed her movement with the line. You see later she investigates again and is a little more relaxed with it.
your, grip didn'tloosen forhercto relax, she pulled ypu forwards with no relaxionon the lead@solutionstohorseproblems5858
Great progress!!!!
Good job
Great video.
He’s so pretty
He really is a good looking fella!
Not teaching the horse proper leading skills is most of the isaue here
👍
How. To get an ornery horse on the 5:25
Nice mam, very useful one
You may need to do multiple sessions with your horse to help her to learn to comfort herself and relax in her stall. You do not have to manage her forever. Each horse is different. Some take longer; some learn it quicker.
Feel free to send me an email for more detailed instruction on working through it with her - monicatreidlinger@gmail.com.
WOuld you do this type of training (outside, back in) until stops weaving....but what if cannot be there 24/7 (my horse is boarded at a facility and I am not always available), but she does weave with or without the other horses in their stalls.
Thank you.
Nice one my friend
So scary.
Good mam, today I learned one lesson from your video
So scary!
Where did you get the shafts and harness?
This set was from a company in Quebec, Canada. Here's the link: attelageequinstar.com/boutique-web/fr/harnais/ski-joering-c74c88/.
There is a company in Alberta that also makes harnesses for miniature horses and ponies.
😮😮😮they are naturally cautious and costrophic its ideal if the breeder can get the foal in the trailer with moma ad much ad possible
😮😮😮😮id you have room park the trailer in the pen let the horses get use to it and gopefully walk in and pou tof it put some treats and sweet hay in there
Horse whisperer.
Nice to see you here!
@@solutionstohorseproblems5858 I hope you're doing well and still playing drums. Have a Merry Christmas!
Very interesting! He did really well!!
Horse needs more work in learning to lead you need to set up a better area to teach this horse. Some panels or side of a barn
We are working with what we have. Panels don't teach him anything. They just prevent the behaviour. Part of his problem was separation anxiety and part of his problem was anxiety about the trailer. I reward him with a release every time we get closer and that gets him close to the trailer and then eventually in the trailer. I hope you watched the whole video and saw the progress he made and the learning and confidence building that occurred.
Gu
Why are you attempting to load a horse in wind? You have the partition closed which increases the horses suspicion as you should know horses do not like being g trapped. Your trailer is out in the middle of a field exposed and presenting a problem for you and the horse.
This horse needs to leave her home and winter is approaching. We can't pick our days to train. We also can't pick the location. She won't be travelling in my trailer. I'm just preparing her for the upcoming trip. This is where she lives so open field is what we have. I work with the ramp first and then as she learns to step onto it, I open the partition. Watch the whole video to see her progress.
Stepping off the side of the ramp is always a worry in case of injury .Also her suddenly running backwards could put you off balance. Progress is great with such patience well done. !
Thank you.
That’s interesting .
She looks like my horse. Almost identical. She’s doing great! Trailers can be scary for some horses.

This not a good video! They are way better videos/articles on this subject.
The intent of this video is to show the horse's reaction first to the saddle which blocks his shoulder and prevents free movement, and then the improvement after the wither pad is added. He bucks and protests when we first try the saddle and then canters comfortably after we have added the pad to raise the saddle off the shoulders.
@@solutionstohorseproblems5858you can’t definitely say it was the shoulder relief pad that made the difference in the bucking/relaxation. The only true way to test that is to remove the stirrups or tie them back. Because this horse appeared relaxed with the shoulder relief pad and the western saddle but once he catches some speed they look to be agitating him swinging around. We do not know this horse’s sensitivity
