Yes. You have to connect a short wire jumper between (-) and (IN).

I’m completely new to this type of stuff. I’d like to know, if you could tell me, what kinds of motors are compatible with this? Are these motors able to handle heavy weight? If not, are there compatible ones that can?
Search for "RC servos". Basically any RC servo will work. They come in a variety of sizes from very small and cheap, to very large, strong, and expensive.

I apologize if this is obvious - I'm new to wiring. Regarding the power, since there is a white "jumper" wire from the VS terminal to the VD terminal, does it matter at all which terminal the red wire from the barrel connector is wired to? Here I see that it is wired to the VS terminal, but in the manual it is wired to the VD terminal.

You can add multiple ServoDMX to a DMX bus. Theoretical max would be 32 ServoDMX for 512 servos as DMX supports up to 512 channels.

Whatever device you are controlling should have a label on it indicating what kind of voltage it requires. If it is 12VDC, and the current (A) or (W) is lower than the current / wattage of the power supply, you can borrow power from the PicoBoo's supply. im wanting to make some small moveing heads for a model im builidng and wanting to use servos would this work ? for that purpose and would i be able to connect this to something like a ADJ WMX1 Wolfmix DMX Controller ?
Any device that outputs DMX should work as a controller. We haven't used the WMX1. As long as you can program it to change the channel values the way you want to move the heads it should work. Not sure how you do that on that device as it has no sliders. Maybe with the software.
This is cool, I just got into Halloween props and looks like something I will buy over the winter to prepare for next year.

Hi. You can add up to 8 sounds. Each time it is triggered it will play the next available sound. Note that there is only one animation, so the animation that plays with one of those sounds is always the same.

Can you do an auto talk tutorial for ServoDMX? I can't get it to work using the manual and don't have the director connect to do it via software.

I ordered this because this video states that the expansion port can be used to program PicoBoos. I emailed support to see if it comes with an expansion port cable to do this and your support team said it doesn’t come with a cable and it cannot program picoboos. Now I’m out $240 unless I order a picoboos flex which is out of stock. Not cool
This video is 12 years old so some things may not be the same. The expansion port is only used to upload sounds and update firmware with PicoBoos. That's generally only used for prop manufacturers that make a lot of props. Feel free to arrange a return.
@@frightideas I apologize for being rude, I was anxious to use this this year so I ordered it thinking it could be used with the several picoboos I’ve ordered within the last year. I guess I’ll have to wait til next year when the BooBox Flex becomes available again. I do love all of the he FrightIdeas products and will continue to order them. I’ll have to do more research in the future and ask more questions before ordering just based on the website information. Sorry for being disrespectful
The manual mentions the ability to record multiple scare sounds. Do these sounds play individually, in order each time its triggered or continuously as one file?
I want to hook up a 12vdc solenoid and a 24vdc solenoid to the picoboo plus model as well as a strobe light. Is that possible?
You'll need relays and a separate power source for the solenoids.
Do you have instructions on how to set up a canon with smoke, light, air compressor and sound with the picoboo?

Hi, is it possible to have the ambient music continue to play whist the scare noise plays over it? I want there to be a scream, but I don’t want the background noise to stop whilst it happens… Also the Sprite Media player can trigger different scenes. Can the Picoboo be incorporated into it and would it be possible to do a video showing how these two work together? I am in the UK and already own a few Sprite Media players, but buying and getting a picoboo here is expensive so I want to make sure it can do everything I require with it before I order a few of them too. Thanks :)
Hi. The scare sound cannot play over the ambient. Only one sound can play at a time. A relay on the PicoBoo could be used to trigger the Sprite's input. But the Sprite only has one input, so only one video can be triggered. An input adapter is required if you want to be able to trigger more than one video.
@@frightideas Oh so will the Picoboo not trigger the Sprite in the same way a motion sensor would? That’s interesting. Thanks for the feedback. I’ll just have to re-jig a few things as I’m so excited to get my hands on the Picoboo. I’m sure I’ll find plenty of uses for them

Thanks. Tonight i pressed the SET key and the servo moved , and now i can move it with the fader, thats my first step. But i plugged in the director connect and nothing happens, i wrote some random lines on channel servo 1but nothin happens. When it asks me to assign a controller there are some options with the picture but there's not servo dmx option so i just picked picko dmx but i guess is not the right option.

Unlikely. The skull includes our ServoDMX controller which controls the servo. The DMX and sound are usually played by our Flex or FlexMax controllers. That said, one could provide the DMX from any source, like computer software, another DMX controller, etc. I'm not sure what this particular customer used.

So is there a way this can run constantly? As I feel as though a motion sensor would not work Great on something like this.
There are instructions on the included SD card to set it up to run constantly. Our "PicoStorm" version of this controller is exactly that. It's the same product setup to loop continuously.
I just received my picostorm fx how are you able to go through the other various sounds that come on the provided sd card? Straight out of the box it only looping the one sound from the sd card.
There is a Readme.TXT file on the SD card that explains how to switch to the other shows. You can switch yours to one of the STORMX shows if you want it to start looping at power-up. For any further support please email support at frightideas.com.
I am trying to get 5 different lights to blink continually do i set it to ambient and it will go on a loop i dont have any audio for it just need 5 small lights to each blink differently
Yes. Put your animation in Ambient. That scene loops on startup.

How can i delete the sound from the controller? If i want a new!?
You can record a new sound over that one, it will erase the old one automatically. If the red light is not coming on make sure the unit is not write protected. help.frightideas.com/104. More recent models can be factory reset by powering up and holding REC for 10 seconds.
Would this unit work with a construction transformer? 110v 60htz to 240v 50 htz? I am desperately looking for a device like this, however there are none available in europe. Would love your help. - Alan
Sorry no. It will only work at 120VAC Maximum and at 60Hz.
I have another question about the flexmax. I bought some LED lights and the power on each light says 90 ~ 240V, 50/60 Hz. My question is will I be able to just strip them and plug them into an output if I have a 24v 5a plugged into the flexmax?

Can this be used for house lights?
Not lights installed in a house. Not without pulling switches out and rewiring stuff. And even that would only work in certain wiring setups.
Can you control Moving Head Lights and keyframe pan and tilt?
You can control moving lights. The best way is using a USB joystick. Director will recognize that and allow you to map the joystick controls to the light's X and Y. Other than that, there aren't any special functions for moving lights. Generally the joystick and transition functions are used to make smooth movements between two points.
So, the animation will play as long as the "SCARE AUDIO" length is and then reset back to the ambient sound ?
Actually, it will play the scare animation, and then return to the Ambient sound. So you have the option to make the scare animation shorter than, longer than, or the same length as the scare sound.
@@frightideas So, the Scare Sound doesn't LOOP? If I upload a 10 sec Scare Sound, that's all it will play, correct ?
@@jganna It can be set to loop, or it can be set to play once when triggered. Note, if you want CD quality audio you should check out the PicoBoo MP3. It has much better audio if that is an important part of this prop. If you're just playing a scream or simple monster sound, the PicoBoo is fine.

Yes depending what you need it for. For a simple prop this works perfectly.
Are you able to change colors in the director software of the dmx lights?
Yes. Director definitely supports DMX fixtures with RGB lights.
