Sailing SV Huntress

Добавлен 9 мар 2021
This is a story of Dave and Sharon finally living their dreams of sailing to the Caribbean and beyond.
It all started with a conversation while raking leaves. Instead of being tied to one place, we decided to leave everything behind and begin a life of adventure. Our daughters were out of high school and it was time to move on. We bought a sailboat (Amel Mango) and spent time getting it ready for our adventures.
Join us while we share our adventures from getting the boat ready and embarking on our cruising life.

We had a beautiful sail from Puerto Rico to St. Thomas. Too bad it didn’t end as well. While there we checked out some places and took a ride to the top on a gondola. Met some wonderful ladies. One of which lived there. Then it’s back to repairing what messed up our sail in the first place. Stay safe guys
Love watching where you go and I. Glad you “fared” well through the storm!
Trunk bay St. John’s!!!!!
Yes. It is beautiful and refreshing there. Plan to stop there again in the future.
How do you not have more subscribers
Good question! I haven't been promoting it everywhere and probably because of no young nubile bodies all the time!
I loved st. Thomas- really love ST.Johns!!!!
It's a beautiful place to visit. And the lovely ladies we met made it even more wonderful.
There is only one St. John. Love Trunk Bay.
@@davidalbright7335 It is beautiful there.
Do you have the raymarine linked to the b&g gear? If so how do they go as far as functioning as one system?
We don't have the raymarine linked to the B&G. They are two separate systems. Our raymarine only has AIS and radar. We mainly use the raymarine for radar.
@SailingSVHuntress no worries, I am about to install the hydraulic version of that AP and was thinking about trying to link our raymarine in. Mostly just for the screen mirror option but have heard mixed reviews about linking the 2 brands
Thank you for bringing us along on your adventures!!! 😘😘😘
Thank you for watching.
OMG!!! I would jump! I could spend the whole day doing this!
Coming down the 50 steps beforehand made my legs shaky. If they weren't shaky I probably would have jumped.
Where is Damagua? I would have jumped lol -you know that!
It is in the Puerto Plata Dominican Republic.
This looks like fun! Thank you
It was a blast! If you ever go there, you should try it.
Now that’s a beautiful bird song!!!!!
Thanks. I know you love bird songs.
So enjoy your adventures!
Thank you. Glad you enjoy them.
I loved this one!!!!!
Thanks. It's kind of a reality check.
Good Show! Sail on! Thank you
Thanks. It was fun.
Are those prices in USD or something else?
Yes. They were.
🐖🐖🐖🐖🐖
That fire dancer was very cool indeed!
Right? It was really cool to watch. Plus a fun evening altogether.
😀
nice cat on your way out! Where is your Norwex for he windows!!! lolololol
There was a ton of soot from the cruise ships all over the boat. After a rainstorm, we wiped the windows down. But then, as you sail the salt spray gets everywhere too.
And your Norwex cloths will keep those windows crystal clear!!!! lol
Yes, they will.
Nice video and now I'm your new subscriber please stay connected and have a great day ❤️
Thanks for watching and subscribing to the channel.
Is Kelly your daughter?
Yes.
I took nap
Now you're well rested.
why did you not just use the mast steps?
We didn't use them because you should put at least a safety harness on connected to a halyard even when using the mast steps. Another reason is the steps are too difficult to use compared to being hoisted up. Also the mast steps only go to the first spreaders, not to the top of the mast.
@@SailingSVHuntress Thanks for your explanation, however, I must say, as I have been up many masts I would still prefer the mast steps with a safety harness, then for above the spreaders help from the winch. But that's only my opinion.
Pullies? Do you mean blocks??? Wheel? Sheaves... Jeez.
@@RevDrMalamaRobinson Not sure what you're referring to.
I want links to the tool and parts for the Dewalt :) Need one of those!
The links have been added to the description. This is a super useful tool.
Amy and I went to the Ripleys in Orlando… super cool
It is a cool museum. A friend mentioned it, so we thought, why not?
Happy Mother’s Day @Sharon!
Thank you Lee! Hope you had a wonderful Mother's day as well.
Thanks for sharing👍
Thanks for watching. Beautiful area in the Chesapeake.
what a beautiful harbor!
We loved it there. So dog friendly and wonderful people.
I like that blue bottom paint, I wish there were more color options. Mine is black, due to lack of options! 😂
Thanks. There are limited colors and it was time for a change.
Super cool!!!!!
Thanks.
Why aren't you just sailing? Turn off the engine
Normally we would but that would put us from 6+ knots down to 2-3 knots and when we go across sandbars at entrances to harbors, we prefer to do it in the light. The slower speeds would mean we would have to sail into the night and enter the harbor in the dark. We try our best to arrive at an unknown anchorage in the light. Safety first!
I'm hauling out again in April or May,, Again 🧐
Haul outs are a pain but you do feel good about splashing again.
Thank you! I’ve always wanted to go to St. Augustine! I love Charleston! Great fried chicken!
It is a beautiful city. You did mention a restaurant in Charleston. Maybe the next time we are there, we can find it and eat there.
WOW Sailor,
Wow as in what? The head or the unplanned swim?
Electronic boards made in china nothing decent comes from chona.
Agreed. So we found out.
The Amel Super looks like it was in Las Olas.
That's where we saw it.
Friends don't let friends buy Irwin's of Gulfstar's lol
We agree with you. Lady K Sailing does reviews on boats if you want to check them out. www.youtube.com/@LadyKSailing
And the shoes???
Would you wear those shoes on a sailboat? Apparently it was just for photos.

I'll sub to cancel it out.

Will check them out.
a couple (few?) years ago the Blue Angels came right across Poquott! Such a sight to behold!!!!! Looks like Kelly has firmly embraced the sailing lifestyle!
It is exciting to see air shows. She has embraced this lifestyle.
Butt such a nice job on the bottom. HAHAHA
Thank you.
Like only because of the beautiful Kayley.
She does add to the video.
16:03 what are those for?
These are the stands that hold the boat upright while on land.
12:40 this is how you paint now. excellent job
Glad you like it.
Yeah, it’s too hot to do it any other way. Clothes are for the birds anyhow.
@@bravofighter It was hot out!
502 sub 9:56 is what you all want to see ty
Yep. Having someone else do the work for you.
Costs for this haul out?
Haul out, splash, sandblasting, week on the hard, paint and supplies - about $2k.
1st YES
Thanks.
Nice ass I guess. Is this what you have to do to attract viewers?
