    Hello, first of all great content. I have 36kw of solar panels, ground installation. It must be limited on 23kw cause that will be max grid will accept. I 'm in dillema of choosing inverter between 25kw SMA or some 30 or 33kw Huawei. I'm closer with SMA cause they are more premium brand but i have concern about power. They do not offer anything between 25 and 50.

    Interesting. I have seen recommendations to have slightly more panels than the inverter capacity. Simply, that it will be vary rare (not possible) to hit the panel capacity and the inverters will simply cap the feed. Perhaps, this doesn't work in Australia since 10 kW of panels may actually generate 10 kW due to high intense sun?

    Unfortuntely, if your panels get damaged in a hail storm then the manufacturer most likely will not cover the damage and your installer is not liable. You basically have to make a claim through insurance and face higher future premiums.

    It would of been nice if he stated this explanation is for a grid tie inverter, because none of it made sense if it isn't. for example, solar panels supply a charge controller the charge controller supplies DC to a battery the inverter is then connected to that battery to supply AC to appliances, in a battery system the inverter does not connect to panels it connects to a battery.

    I prefer to lay spread-eagle, face up, on top of my solar array while screaming "Is that all you got!!!???" In all seriousness, solar installer here, most small hail won't break a panel. If the hail is big enough to break a panel, it's big enough to kill you and your roof is for sure ruined. We've done a lot of de-installs where the roof was trashed and the panels didn't need to be replaced. They're suprisingly strong.

    Thanks for the good video, I do still have a question that is in reverse of this video (undersizing solar inverter?), let's say I want to think about the future and get a 3kw solar inverter but I only add 500 watt solar panels for example. Would this cause problems with the efficiency the system is working on?

    • @gardelelectricalsolar7622
      @gardelelectricalsolar7622 2 года назад

      Thanks! Realistically you could do this. It just isn't the most cost-effective option, giving you only pay marginally more when adding more panels as you're paying a company for the installation costs anyway. Adding more panels at a later date will come at an additional cost.

    • @_JustBeingCasual
      @_JustBeingCasual 2 года назад

      @@gardelelectricalsolar7622 i was thinking about creating a small solar system om my balcony, so I do not have too much space and watts to work with at this point; one micro inverter cost like 200 and I can get a normal inverter 3000 watt for 300; hence the question but I guess the easiest way to go at this point is just to use a micro inverter. Might be better for smaller systems anyways

    • @gardelelectricalsolar7622
      @gardelelectricalsolar7622 2 года назад

      Thanks for the question! It is not recommended to put more than the maximum input power listed on an inverter. It could cause damage and would likely cause your system to shut off from overvoltage, so it's not worthwhile.

    If oversizing isnt dangerous why do Fronius and MPPSOLAR quote PV watt limits and Growatt too! A 5KW Fronius says 7500W is the PV Watt limit, MPP depends on the units but some are 4500W. As the solar panels don't push the inverter, but pulls power out of the panels thus the MPPT will adjust itself to get the most power out; so if someone had 9000W of panels and the sun is in ideal position to allow 8-9KW to be delivered to the inverter, MPPT would want to get the most amps/volts thus power out of the panels? Seems there is a rule of thumb of 133% oversizing but not more????

    • @gardelelectricalsolar7622
      @gardelelectricalsolar7622 2 года назад

      That's correct, 133% is the cap for oversizing. Which is why 6.6kw panels is commonly paired with 5kw inverter. Thanks for the question :)
