I just retired and I live in Connecticut, I get my federal pension that is very good and I just get my disability benefits, I'm 62 and my heart issues I need to move to a calm and nice place.I visit Fort Myers and my sister and two brothers and to cousins move there.Fort Myers is beautiful but watching this video and others of Estero I will go by to check Estero,and probably as a senior retired there.My family and friends tell me Cape Corals or Naples or Ocala or Tampa,Now I really don't know what to choose, because I never live in Florida,but probably I will choose Estero.

Upscale dining? 😂 You mean overpriced dining. Expensive doesn’t mean upscale. The food is not spectacular here. I haven’t had any good Chinese or Mexican food in the 4 years I’ve been here.

Lol you left out all the negatives including Marco Island is at sea level and mandatory evaluation zone and floods very often. Especially with storm surge. Ok if you can afford to lose your home any given year and the flood and wind insurance that's another mortgage. Traffic is anything but minimal 7 months out of the year lol.

We visited Marco Island for 6 days a few weeks ago. Overall I thought that it was a wonderful environment. Traffic wasn't as bad as going over the bridge to Ft Myers Beach. However what amazed me was you can actually tell by the people of who were locals and who were tourist. The tourist were naturally nice to you. The locals were snobs and acted like we weren't accepted. We stayed at an airbnb that was well over 280 a night so we were within the area of money if you will. It just struck me that the locals in the area thought that their s#$t didn't stink. Snook Inn was a mess to get into based upon the parking lot. We did enjoy Salty Dog. We picked a week when the weather wasn't that good but enjoyed the beach two of the days. Water was great. Alot of shells to be found. It was great, but probably wont be back. We have stayed on Sanibel Island before the hurricane. When they get things back to order, we will probably just go back to Sanibel.

Only 85,000 residents? It seems like the population is way higher than that unless it has a really small city limits area and you aren't counting the area outside of the city limits but obviously within the metro area.
