I support the idea of changing the incomplete and one-sided view on history, but it seems you want to change it for a different one-sided incomplete story. Probably not even a correct one as you state that the Netherlands was one of the most significant slavetraders in history. That's nonsense of course, from the 12 million African slaves traded in the European colonial era the Netherlands share was 'only' 500.000. You want to take the African perspective? With 19 million Africans enslaved or traded by the Arabs on top of the other Europeans and many centuries of African slavery by Africans the Dutch slavetrade would not even be worth mentioning, who cares who the Ashanti sold a part of their slaves to? And that's just Africa, let's face it, slavery was the default situation of mankind until the Europeans decided it was wrong. Only from a Dutch perspective, white or not, is it that Dutch slavery is interesting. And only from a moral point of view. Economically it wasn't a success. Does your tour also mention the fact that the Dutch Republic refused to take part in slavery for the first half of it's Golden Age because those calvinists saw it as unchristian and unethical, while they were getting filthy rich from the Baltic Sea trade and other regular trade? Now how that changed is a really interesting and sad story, anything on that? Does your tour include the history of the people of colour in late 16th and 17th century Amsterdam, which were free people of course? Or is black history only interesting when it's about victims from the evil white men, a victimhood that continues until today of course and where there's hardly any difference between the Netherlands and the USA? Yeah, right. That's not a complete story and not even a correct one.

Im a white man from The Netherlands and i find this a very good video. We must never forget and it is a shame we still did not learn enough from the history. Not only people with another skin tone but also people with another gender are discriminated. Discrimination is a disease and can spread very quickly with the wrong government leaders and authorities. Its stupid, it is sad, it makes me angry and frustrated.

The wic is much les discussed beceause it was way smaller than the VOC a 10 to 1 comparisson. The WIC was traded mostly in slaves wich was exactly not very profitable. On our school we do talk about the WIC and this is exactly what is told to us. But this is a very good video and we do have to learn about our history to never make the same mistakes

Interesting to mention "Admiraal Tromp" ,one of his wars was against the "Barbarijnse Piracy" 1650-1651. The Barbarijnse piracy was feared because of the enslavement of white Europeaans ,estamestions are about 2 million victims.

So thanks that they where slaves from Africa and Contract workers from India, they are very pleased not living there. But yes bringing this people from Africa to the west indies on that ships was like hell. But slavery ended like in 1863 or so?
