    How long or how many feet was your positive wire to the alternator to the positive terminal on the battery?

    Out of thousands and thousands of videos, this is the only one that has shown exactly what to do with the rest of the box (some show before and after without explaining how to change wires). Only question what did you do with the old positive wire? Thank you so much.

    Whats the output of your alternator? I just finished installing a 320 amp in. I ended up purchasing my big 3 wire kit separately using 1/0 kit. It made a huge difference in my cars lights dimming and overall feel in power of my car. I own an 06 Acura TL and didn't realize the difference 3 wires would make on how it feels power wise. Maybe its just me but it also feels like my car cranks up faster.

    So with running that power wire from the alternator directly to the battery is it safe to run it unfused? I’m sure the wire would burn up before causing any real damage to anything

    • @lowkeyproject7338
      @lowkeyproject7338 2 месяца назад

      I didn’t want to deal with having to change out fuses. As long as you upgrade the wiring to something bigger like the 0 gauge you shouldn’t have any problems. I have done it to a couple other trucks the same way with no issues at all! Now on my other video with the second battery install if you wanted to run a fuse to give you peace of mind that’s one way but it’s also not necessary. The only time I would put a fuse is when I’m running any kind of cable from the battery to any other source in the truck like amp and subs or exterior lighting.

    A nice clean install per usual. I like the 1/2" cable clamps to keep the wires orderly and secure, a nice touch. I have a dual battery system in my Tahoe, but I don't have an isolator. I would like to have one, since I have had the starting battery go dead. I am planning on upgrading the pos and neg wires to and from the two batteries to 0 gauge when I have time. This install may be a little outside of my skill level, due to the fusebox.

Better safe than sorry and do you have a bigger alternator in your Tahoe as well?

    • @lowkeyproject7338
      @lowkeyproject7338 5 месяцев назад

      If you install battery relay/ isolator you definitely need to tap into fuse to protect from auxiliary battery. Right now the system your running without the isolator sounds like it’s just two battery’s that are continuously on when truck is. That will definitely drain the batteries a lot faster and will give you the primary battery a big load all the time hence the dying issue. The isolator and fuse tap will eliminate that. When the truck is on both batteries are running/ being charged. When the truck is off/ key on engine off the isolator will separate the primary from auxiliary so you don’t end up with a dead primary. The secondary battery can also act as a jump star to the primary if it does go dead so that a plus to!

    Very nice and clean setup! I was wondering what year your truck is? And did you have to modified the alternator bracket in any way to make it fit or just stock bracket, stock serpentine belt? Longer belt needed? I have a 2003 Chevy avalanche 1500 5.3vortec and was looking to upgrade my stock 105amp alternator to something similar to yours. Thanks and again awesome setup!

With the alternator I bought, I was able to use the same belt no modification for bracket everything was basically plug and play. Now saying that if you do upgrade your alternator just depending on which brand you get I know that there are some that will need the belt to be a different size. I made sure to look at reviews and descriptions before buying this alternator. I have everything I used in the description!
