Freeze Miser
США
Добавлен 4 янв 2017
The ENGINEERING of the Freeze Miser releases ONLY the minimal amount of water to PREVENT faucets from freezing. Its patented design allows it to sense the internal water temperature, ALLOWING NO WATER to drip until dropping below 37°F/3°C.
1. Hand-tighten the Freeze Miser on to an outdoor faucet or hose.
2. Turn the water supply valve to a fully open position. A minimum of 10 PSI water pressure is required.
3. Install the Freeze Miser in a horizontal or vertical position. In the upright position, the small brass end should be at the bottom. Do NOT install the Freeze Miser with the brass end pointed upward.
4. If placing on a hose (150 feet or less) - Keep the Freeze Miser off the ground to ensure the Freeze Miser senses the water’s temperature only in the hose.

'only lets through just enough water to keep things from freezing' How much is 'just enough'? Anyone have a link demonstrating that?
If I have the setup on the RV side like in this video, do I need the same setup on the faucet supplying the water to the RV ??
If I connect the y connector and the freeze miser at the RV, do I need to have a y connector and freeze miser on the faucet supplying the water too ??
Not needed for many applications. Your water bill will be high if you have city water and live in a cold climate state.
Do not buy this. It is just a thermostat. “Thermal Wax” does not produce heat. Deceptive marketing is fraud and families are suffering. Shame on “Freeze Mizer!” Report them to whomever you purchased this from.
The freeze miser is a perfect example of a basic second generation thermostat that was designed around the 40’s by adding “thermal wax’s”. It doesn’t “heat” anything it simply allows water to either flow or not flow at a given temperature. Which is fine. But unless I’m missing something, a thermostat does not produce heat, they respond to temperature and change chemical to mechanical energy. Such as a green house lovers to open roof vents when the temperature exceeds a certain point. As the “thermal wax” melts from a solid to a liquid, it expands and pushes a rod. The wax melts due to “ambient” temperature changes, ie the sun, engine heat, furnace, exhaust, etc. When the rod extends it pushes outward and can then push something or internally/externally be designed various to allow various flows of air or water, or any fluid depending on the movements of the rod, based on the melting point of the wax, which will change constantly. Different waxes have precise and consistent melting points and ranges. Allowing for a wide range of uses. But I’ve not seen a thermostat, “motor” create heat or be anything more than it is. “Thermo wax” is a very useful but dated concept using known expansion of matter physics when heated. Nothing more, nothing less.
Do you just have your water valve on?
Yes install and turn water on as if you were using it
Most videos of this product are from Texas what about Wisconsin where the temps in the winter get below zero?
I understand why your supply line doesn't freeze, but please explain how the filled bucket of water doesn't freeze. Thank you.
P r o m o s m
Curious if wasting thousands and thousands of gallons of water over an entire winter is cheaper than just putting a tank heater in the tank ?
Ok I can believe the supply line won’t freeze but that over flow hose has to freeze solid . All mine do , how the heck is it possible to keep that overflow hose from freezing solid ?
I’m not sure if that’s a win or a fail . Seems a heater in the tank would be better than that mess
So, is it 17 or -17 degrees?
What about from the water spigot to the camper? Dn't you need a heated hose? by time it gets to the camper it's frozen.
put it on the end of the hose right at the camper inlet and will protect the hose and spigot.
That thing is just a valve. You can do the same just by opening the faucet and letting water out
I wish I had a couple of these for my outdoor faucets before all this cold hit. I will be getting some when I can actually get out to do so.
I would rather the default position be open, because what happens if it fails to open in its current configuration? Well, it'll fail to run water and the pipes will freeze. Just found this product this morning, and this was my immediate concern.
Thank for, this video was very helpful for me
If hose frozen where is water coming from?
I think she said "nose" referring to her own previously running nose.
He goes through all the trouble of making and posting a video, but doesn't show it in action. What a great idea.
Ty saw those at Home Depot and wondered if they worked good
Super cool. I normally have Y valves on all of my hose bibs anyway; one side for the hose and the other for direct use. Once I get my Freeze Misers I'll just remove the hoses and install the Freeze Misers where the hoses were as I seldom need hoses in the winter and keep them in my garage.
This would never work here. My supply water to my home is 34 degrees.
My buddy just told me about this product. I needed three, but got eight for a couple of friends. Aren't they lucky I'm such a nice guy... 🤣
I was worried my unit was toast! I can't be the only one. It would be great if you could title this video something like "Leaky Freeze Miser Easy Fix!"
Do you still need to have your facets inside the house drip when you have the freeze miser outside?
Yes, for faucets on outside walls and faucets connected to plumbing run in an outside garage wall or garage ceiling.
So a no go.
The valve opens and allows water to drip at 37 degrees or less. It looks like it is working well.
Looks fine to me
@@bigdennis21it automatically open?
@@NSDaishi You can see the water running. It only dribbles out a little to maintain the line from freezing and blowing your pipes open.
@@NSDaishi There is a spring it and "thermal wax". When it gets cold, the wax shrinks and opens the valve. When it gets warm, the wax expands and closes the valve. So, yes, it is automatic.
Where do you get the Y valves without the on and off knob
Why don't you answer anyone's questions?
Excellent, excellent presentation. Thank you, Sir.
Does the Freeze Miser cause the pump to kick on and off a lot? Wouldn’t that cause the pump to fail prematurely?
Thanks. Just what I needed
Just purchased and installed and went slowly. I hand tightened. Water spews at the top and the bottom. Any suggestions? I thought that the plastic threads got messed up with the brass, so I took out another new Freeze Miser. Same thing. Water spewing and did not stop. Outside temp is about 70 degrees.
You may have to tighten the faucet stem. 2 of my faucets did this after my last freeze. This will be the first time I'll use the freeze miser.
Slow down your camera swings, made me dizzy and could not watch.
I'll be dipped!
2 questions: 1. Let's say it stays at 35 degrees for a week, how much water would you lose in that time period? 2. Why doesn't the wax trap the spring in the open position when it expands again? Thanks.
So is it normal for the rod to be up but when I put it on and turned on the water on, no water came out? I'm assuming that's just because it's not detecting water that is below 37 degrees?
Yup. Should be no water coming out when the temps are warm.
I screwed on the freeze miser as much as I could but it is still leaking at the top of the threads. Do you have any suggestions on what I could do? Thanks so much.
get teflon tape, the white one, then thread it clockwise. do maybe 2-3 circular wraps.
Can you put together a list of parts in the description
We just got this! Thanks for the video
So the hose is now fully turned on, and it will drip when it gets really cold. But how do you use the hose in the meantime to fill a bucket of water for example?
You either take the Freeze Miser off or put a Y splitter onto the end of the hose. The Freeze Miser goes onto one leg of the splitter and you spray water out the other leg. (controlling the water with the valves on the splitter; always leaving the valve to the Freeze Miser wide open)
Would something like this work well with chickens?
Yes, scroll through the freeze miser videos on installing on a chicken waterer.
Genius idea. Mixed reviews.
My Miser failed releasing a continuous stream of water well above 40F...the price increase of the Misers is simply predatory
What was the price increase?
@@rikityrikI saw them at Home Depot, pack of 1 was $29.99, 2 for $59.99. For automatic temperature valves. Ok. But don’t advertise “Heat”. It’s very deceptive. Very deceptive. I intend to complain to Home Depot Corporate. The guy in the video dressed as a farmer uses very well scripted words to say absolutely nothing.
Cuz urine idiot... I understood the explanation 🤭@FlashNinjaYT
Seems like too much flow... is that thing defective? Shouldn't it be dripping?
Will my Rv pipes / hose be protected or do I need to install insulation ? And how cold can I be safe
How come mine didn't shut off at 47 degrees still ran steady stream warmed it up in pickup few minutes it worked
Your freeze miser should be horizontal or facing toward the ground per instructions. Not straight up.
