Before changing the curve maybe you should consider bolting the left fender to the shroud and laying the trunk into the opening to see how they fit before and after. Ihealey has a video on aligning the fender to the shroud.
You are correct.. I didn't take a video of the trunk lid because it had a bunch of damage also in it. The hole trunk lid was twisted . So the next best thing to do was make pieces I could just mirror from one side to the other. The rear fender actually has to be fixed also , the last owner widened the holes so it fit....I never ends
BUT EARLIER YOU SAID UREATHANE DOSENT SQUISH, BUT NOW ALL OF A SUDDEN IT DOES, how about not making anymore videos.
No..your mistaken ... Urethane bushings Do Not squish. What I was showing was, to use them you will need to cut or sand them to fit.
Hi Scott- I’m thinking of finding a hot rod shop here to make a 100-4 frame just like yours for a really rusty 100 I have (I’m in the Phoenix AZ area). I’m curious- did you provide your old frame dimensions or just take your old frame for them to duplicate? Thanks!
Great vid
Any chance you happen to have a PDF version (or some electronic version) of that chassis measurement and spec sheet you created? About to do some chassis repair on a BN2.
Sorry I didn't see your message till now. But Yes.. I can get you my pdf file. I'll need a few days.
There are new frames available from Canada
Yep... Jule Enterprises
@@unfiltered_Designs Is the old frame still available?
Actually..yes it is
@@unfiltered_Designs I had asked a couple months ago on your prior video. Still need a frame. Mine is patches and twisted. Would like to talk?Is there a way to contact you?
@@Don-hu3gz...yes. life you would like to call me. My name is Scott and phone number is 414-241-2763
Wow the frame looks great! Compared to the stock 100 frame, looks much stronger. Any idea how much more it will weigh? Thanks for posting progress!
Yeah.. the original Austin-Healey frame had a wall thickness of 0.072 inch, a torsional resistance of 635 ft-lb/degree, and a weight of 135 pounds. My frame had a wall thickness of 0.125 inch, a torsional resistance of 1550 ft-lb/degree, and a weight of 200 pounds.
Can you share the patterns for the wood bases? I don't have the originals and want to build them myself.
I didnt forget about you...im trying to figure out how to show patterns in photos. I'll have to make a print and when I do I'll send it to you.
I can’t wait to see it!!! Please keep the videos coming Thanks
Great info!! I’m doing a similar frame project and chose to make the lower control arms adjustable with eccentric mounting points. That way I can adjust both camber and caster. Thanks
Yeah..there's a bunch of stuff that can be corrected on these chassis. I added adjustable upper shock mounts for the camber adjustments. Now I'm waiting for my welder to finish up the rest of the chassis so I can start the bodywork.
B
Thank you
Hi just found your channel. Your into a big project!! What was the supplier for the frame parts? This is great I'm starting a similar project and would love to get a copy of your frame measurements Would that be possible.
The supplier of my frame parts was Kilmartin Auto sheetmetal and Yes ..I can get you a copy of my print for the chassis. If you send me your email I can send you the pdf.
Unfiltered Designs Hi again I hope this is not public . My address is art.hagner@gmail.com
His mate is there a part 3 ?
Thanks for posting! Hope you’re making progress on your frame too- I’m eager to see how it goes (I’ve been doing lots of mig welding on a Healey and one of my frames needs serious rust repair)!
Very useful information mate will save a lot of problems down the road 'I'm starting on my BJ7 in the new year so please keep the tips coming. ..
Great video. Thanks!
Interesting video, I've been searching for this info for some time now. I have the same question, can you share the dimensions and/or templates? My car only came with the metal frames
I'm from Wis and still interested in getting in contact with you. i have commented in your first video
I have some factory frame blue prints that could be helpful to you, hopefully it is not to late for them to be of help. Hoprfully we can get in contact somehow.
Hello Mark, I would love to see the blue prints you have. I'm sure you understand when I say that I haven't got to my Healey in a while to work on it. you know life gets in the way. You're welcome to give me a call if you'd like. I'd be interested in hearing about your Healey. my number is 414 241 2763. thanks Scott
@@unfiltered_Designs OK. I'm not a tech guy so I just realized you replied. I have some paper copies in the shop 20"x30" I had printed. I'll try to find the original file. Anyways your car chassis looked exactly like mine, purchased 1978, just retired so I'm cranking on it. It would be great to talk sometime, took me 5 minutes to type this.
this is a awsome project, is there a way for me to contact you? I am from Wi also.I have a 100/4 healy (30years) with very similar history as yours.
Great videos !!! I was just wondering why you are building a new frame? A lot of corrosion on the original one? Thanks for the videos. Again, they are great.
Well, the frame itself is in decent shape but the car didn't come with an engine of transmission so it's going to have a v6 installed . I just figured after 64 years it could use a new frame for the extra power.
@@unfiltered_Designs Understood. Thanks for the reply !!! I have to make the same decision on my car. That is why I was asking.
Would love the dimensions or templates
Would you like the dimensions for the originals or the ones that fit the frame better?
@@unfiltered_Designs yes please... and keep the updates coming. great to see you work. inspiring me to start
@@unfiltered_Designs the ones that fit better please... sorry I was not clear before. really appreciate it.
Love the videos... keep it up. I want to restore my 1059 100/6 next year and love to follow sun your footsteps
Neither of our Healeys have seats or seat bases, so we will need information/details to reconstruct our seats. It is awesome to see these pieces as it solves one piece of our very complex jigsaw puzzle! Thank you for sharing
looking great!
awesome to see up close and personal! we have the panels off our 100/4 and slowly getting motivated to dig to the bottom of that rust hole before starting to dig back out.
Is the old frame for sale? Mine is worse!!
Yes. It will be for sale once I get all the measurements.
I'd like to discuss this further. Is there a way to contact you Thanks,Don
Love it mate. Hope it goes well! Ive just started restoring my healey 100/4 too.
