    I've always created BTI solution with the Mosquito Dunks until very recently when I was at my rope's end dealing for months with the flying insects in my VermiBag Mini. To me it seems like using the stuff dry & ground to a powder is what I believe resolved the situation, finally. I suspect it is because the package I have of Mosquito Dunks is a number of years old - and maybe not as potent as when they're purchased new :)

    • @TheGardenAndWormLady
      @TheGardenAndWormLady 2 дня назад

      Wow,flying insects can get crazy. Yeah I’ve tried both ways. For me grinding it into powder was way more expensive but if I had a problem like yours, I would definitely try in powder form.

    I see a lot of dust airborne. Might I suggest moving the grinder to the edge of the cart. Fasten a bag on the output of the grinder. Hold in place with a hose clamp. When I see that dust I am seeing worm food floating away. Thanks for sharing. I am brand new to worms and watching to get ideas.

    I have a 4 foot long 2 foot deep bin with top soil taken and sifted from the woods. My worm stock are worms dug up from all over my property. So I've got alot of variety in the same bin. I will cut up bananas and different veggies for them. Just feed them every so often. My question is there any danger in the way I do it? Different worms no real ryhme or reason to the food. I get good fishing worms and it seems to work. Two years ive been doing it this way, going on three. What should I look out for. Thanks

Got a nice harvest of pumpkins due to the sprouting happening there :D This year i freeze the pumpkins before feeding them because i want to grow a different variety next year. Speaking of the Louisiana swamp worms, I got those from you a long time ago and they are just filling up my worm tower with babies! You are right about them being prolific. ... And tiny. But they eat like crazy and they're good worms. Thank you for the good stock I've got from you! The European nightcrawlers are wonderful also, and a little bit bigger I think. They're all doing well! And they all said to say "hi" to you! Minnesota winter is coming soon, but all my worms are safely in my apartment. God bless you, and thank you for being an honest businesswoman for me to start my worm towers.

    If I have too many springtails in a bin I just screen out the bin. A lot of them fall out the bottom of the screen and I toss them out in the grass. Works really good for me. I use the pine pellets and the pine shavings I am pleased with the results especially the fluff for air flow.

    • @TheGardenAndWormLady
      @TheGardenAndWormLady 27 дней назад

      No, I would keep the cocoons separate. They usually take about 30 days to hatch, but it depends on the temperature of whether you’re located. Sometimes when I want mine to hatch a little sooner, I put one of those heat mats underneath the bin not inside it on the surface I have videos about that. Warm help them to hatch.
