AC noises - RICORDA (stereo granular reverb + freeze/loop): Tech Demo

Born from the collaboration between AC noises and Andrea Degli Esposti from BunkerNoise, this effect pedal is the very first stereo unit of AC noises current catalogue. Developed on an incredibly powerful DSP (which is often used in modular synthesizers industry more than the effects pedals one), RICORDA provides a multitude of parameters for sculpting and shaping the reverberant space. Bellissimo.
Is there a fixed pre delay or one that can be controlled?
This is pretty close to my dream pedal. You did an awesome job. BUT... UI is pretty bad though. I feel like it is hindering the experience. Please consider coming out with a revised / improved layout. Either more dedicated controls or a better more intuitive secondary control system. Let me know if you need beta testers.
Beautiful
I like it but why the crackling noise when using the mix knob? That would make it unsuitable for making changes on the fly in my opinion
Sounds wonderful…and nothing like the BigSky MX! and I’m all for it! Good timing on the release, can’t wait to get my hands on one
Thank you so much fro your kind words! 💙
Sounds ace. On my radar now.
Thank you! 💙
To be clear: this is not a granular reverb, right? This is a big ambient reverb combined with an ambient DELAY.
It’s actually both. As fabric setting, it’s a reverb with a granular delay in front of it. Once you enter in the secondary mode you can switch their order in chain, so the reverb will be processed by grains. 😉
Beautiful pedal. I really love it! No expression or midi control ?!?!?!?!?!
Nope. Which is braindead. Also, it’s not granular reverb. It’s granular delay + normal reverb.
@@meatmeep3462 Hi there, it’s actually a granular reverb as well (as we already told you on the other video of ours…) because you can switch the effects order in secondary mode, so the reverb will be processed by grains in that case. 😉
@@acnoises7665 That's not granular, unless I am misunderstanding you. Granular would mean that the reverb ITSELF would be created by grains, not being affected by delay grains. Is that wrong? If it is truly granular, it's a purchase for me.
@@meatmeep3462 Hi friend. Grains don’t create anything in terms of sound design. Granular is just a method of synthesis as others such as subtractive, FM, wavetable and more. Again, if you want to applicate this method of synthesis to a reverb, you can do it on the RICORDA by switching the internal signal chain’s order (thanks to the secondary mode). In that case, the reverb will be processed by grains as you prefer in terms of mix, number (we mean grains number), their size, their collecting time and many other parameters which are still available in secondary mode such as feedback, spray, stereo spread and even their pitch. All of these controls allow you to applicate the granular synthesis to the reverb, which is the meaning of turning a “regular” reverb into a granular one.
@@acnoises7665 But grains do create something in terms of sound design. They sample your input, chop it up, and play it back - that's the entire point of buying something granular versus regular delay or reverb. Well, definitions aside, what I hear is a granular delay (like the Red Panda) mixed with a wash of standard reverb. I'm just not sure how your pedal would change any outcome versus Red Panda + Meris 7, for example.
Wonderful device!
Thank you so much!

Could AMA be set to generate a self oscillate without an input sound? Or do you need something however small to trigger it?
I love this pedal. If I had one criticism of it it’s that decay and mix are important controls and they’re kind of hard to see and get to on this pedal. It might be easier to swap them with the subdivision and mode knobs and then turn subdivision and mode into toggle switches. Maybe on the next version, with some presets.😉 Just my two cents! Love the pedal!
if there was a midi in so it could be synced to a midi clock this would be the best pedal ever :)
Very nice indeed ✊️😊🇬🇧
Sold! Does it come in black?
Thank you! No plans about black versions at the moment. The regular yellow one is pretty cool btw! 😉
Would love to hear this on bass!

@@acnoises7665 any difference in sound between the V1 and V2 ?
@@saren6538 Hi there! The main difference in terms of sound is related to the bit crusher. The one of V.2 has more dynamic and both controls (sample rate and resolution) are more responsive. So at the end the whole effect (still speaking about bit crusher only) results way more musical and usable (and fun). About the reverb, the sound is pretty mouth the same of V.1 but more controllable thanks to the oscillation control and ramp switch.
Sounds amazing and the colorway is great!!!
Thank you Matthew!
