Man, it sounds like it works for your family, but I would NOT have been able to stand growing up in a house with 10 siblings. Especially having to be homeschooled and not being able to go to school to escape them. Different strokes for different folks I guess but the resentment I would have felt would be unreal, haha. We have only done one present each, and the last couple of years I have done a secret Santa style where each person buys for someone else. Our budget is $30 each. That’s it. They have a lot of fun. We also have never done Santa. How dare he get the credit for presents us parents buy!! lol

It’s so fun watching you drive around and know exactly where you’re going!

It does take a considerable amount of mental space to coordinate gifts for several children. We’ve had a very expensive year so I’m looking for ways to economize while also making it a joyful, restful and carefree time together. Three kids are in university (1000-1400 miles away) and will be home for the month. I’m currently reading a book called “Hundred Dollar Holiday” and thinking toward Christmas. We all really have all we need so I think we’ll be giving our kids a couple secondhand gifts and a nice stocking of fun and useful things. I don’t want to buy stuff just to buy stuff after I’ve worked so hard to streamline our home. Our older kids buy what they want as their needs arise and younger kids have what they need. I really want to focus on lovely meals, spending time on outdoor day trips and baking at home together, music and time enjoying quiet, or not so quiet evenings by our wood stove. In the past I’ve asked them to make wish lists, but your question idea is better and will guide some of what I put in their stockings. Overall I’m hoping our time together will be light on gifts but big on love and memories. I should start thinking of what we might give to our parents, who also have all they need. Hope to surprise my mom with a visit for her December birthday.

Christmas is coming around again and I am starting to get ready to walk into a calm Decemeber. How are your plans going? 🎄

I am the oldest of eight. Two of us had three children each. How many children you have is your choice. For us, three was what worked.

No matter the number of children... 1, 2, 4, 9, 11 + . . . It's the QUALITY of the love, the family, etc. that is seen and lived in a family. Everyone being on same page as to the house rules, boundaries, expectations, with that in place then it's a much less "bumpy" road traveled. Also, the parent(s) having their own time is also important. A "date" outing, etc. Even if it's "just" taking a sandwich to the park, meandering through a favorite shop. More to say... yet yes, having more than the average number of kids does NOT necessarily mean life will necessarily be "crazy ".

C'mon there are still far too many people on this planet. We are not supposed to be like rabbits. 2 or 3 children is enough.

I really enjoyed your video today. You look very nice and calm. In psychology it is called bias. The way we see things and other people through our personal lens is biased. It means we can only see and observe and therefore judge something through our personal world view. So, for a mother with small children who can t find a moment of peace, and doesn't know how life will be with 10 years olds or 15 years olds, who don t need so much of your intensive care, and your nights wakings, she can t imagine life being enjoyable while having more kids. She is comparing your situation to herself also the present time meybe, say 11 small children with 2 small children. I really enjoyed today s video format. Thank you for sharing. This was very real and honest! After years of minimalism, I "took a break" from decluttering and now I'm in a situation where I don't even want to have anyone over because my house is such a mess. I don't know how it happened. I started believing a lie that more is more but I miss my simple life. I'm also gained 20 pounds when I fell away from my values. Looking forward to watching more of your videos for encouragement.
