Great song Rog! Really tight Band .
Al and his band the New Frontier was the first band I saw when I started listening to country music... so much so I brought the album. Thank you for wonderful memories xx
The late great Ron Dann motioned me into his home studio. He held out his headphones and declared sternly, "You need to hear this..." It was a bootleg of this performance. Thanks for posting this.
Monster players through the years - Lloyd Green, Curly Chalker, Hal Rugg, Paul Franklin, Weldon Myrick, Tom Brumley, and many more - but The Big E stands alone. Always has. Always will.
I miss my old man Trevor pitson. Playing the steel guitar. Missed but never forgotten.
It’s bad enough to have all that harmonic vocabulary he just owns his instrument.
Buddy will always be THE BOSS of pedal steel .. he totally rips this arrangement ..
Don’t agree I would much rather have Ralph Mooney on steel.
@@derekmoore6265 sorry but E is THE BOSS! The best ever.
@@derbyd10 I not his biggest fan over plays at times and don’t like jazz or blues on pedal steel it just sounds horrible.
Remember it well Sean.
Still have the master somewhere.
So incredibly ripping. I don't think Buddy ever played a wrong note.
This was the first video I ever saw of my deceased father (Trevor pitson) playing Steel guitar with the white hat on. Only ever seen photos before this one an only video of him
HI Tim glad to help the band performance was great that night.
There will never be another like Buddy Emmons, the greatest steel player of all time.
That lick from 1:49 - 1:52 ... whoa, Nelly!
.....and so ends your E9th lesson for today, kiddies. Best of luck.
There is a lot of shit going on in there
Wunderschön
Stunning JG !!! what a great voice !!! 🤜🤛
I love how he was doing a blues scale in the middle of this! It was totally awesome! Happy I found out about him!
Schön!!.
Buddy was the complete package, master musician and phenomenal player. None better period.
Das ist Gänsehaut Musik pur LG aus dem Vogelsberg / Germany
À quand le prochain concert ?😀🥂
Excellent poignant rendition.
Can't beat Emmons. He set the bar so high for all steelers to reach. Incredible talent.
The best...and always will be. Fortunately, his music lives on through his recordings!
This has got to be one of best steel guitar performances and displays of talent ever. And done in a tasteful and classy way.
Agreed.
Tops on Steel
Thumbs up to the drummer , what a great job keeping time ...
Although one can't see his face, I'm postive that he is Peter Baron from Albert Lee's band.
Louise , a distinguished singer & great performer.
" Are there any questions?? "
I kind of forgot this, but seing it again brought back fond memories. I wish they'd used the right format though, we were not quite as skinny as it looks like here. Haha.
my fault as I had to transfer from video to digital. I will have to have another go to do it now I am a bit more capable. How are you doing I will see if I have something to play on my show on dcrfm.co.uk on a wednesday night
Hi Sean, thanks for your kind reply! I´m doing fine, busy as ever, and hope you are too! :) It would be nice to se this after you fix it. Will check in on your show.
I was looking for this! Thanks for posting!
only just found this: great!!!! Feeling so nostalgic.........
Super gespielt! Schöne Grüsse aus Berlin,Germany
Like the song says we were "crammed like a duck in a pen" !! ha ha
go Gord
Luvvly-jubbly.
Hi Sean. I've been trying to contact you back but I think you need to accept my subscription. I would love to appear on DCFM to promote my new country album. My number is 01227 830286 or Mobile is 07840 176824
Al was a great inspiration to me and my music career. All the old ones where the best. Dave Keen
didn't know this was on internet good to hear George, Gordon,Brian, and Hmmm myself, a great set of lads. Brin, Bass
I love Buddy's sound, he is about 500 feet in the air above everyone else, even at cruising altitude but I have a hard time getting past that Peavey tone that everyone is using. A couple guys can get a good sound out of a Peavey amp, like William Litaker and Tommy White when he plays one, but that sound puts me to sleep almost every time.
Super! Continuez comme ça! ;-)
wow some of the best Buddy Emmons ever
I love that man's laying and the songs he chooses and I have for over fifty years.I am a huge fan of Buddy Emmons.
Love that sound! Amazing talent!!!!!
31 years ago Al passed away
the same al doherty my mother and father used to watch singing jim reeves songs

There has never been, nor probably ever will be, anyone with the total mastery of the pedal steel guitar like he has.....there are a lot of really great players of steel, but Buddy is in a class by himself, and all the pros in Nashville will probably tell you so............
Would have sounded a lot better with a USA player Steve, but I guess it wasn't a bad attempt almost 35 years ago.
really not my place to say but another blogger had said that since his wife passed-on he has done little to nothing in the public, if this is consiered out of place please deleate, regards, especially to Buddy [ met and talked to him some 30+years ago] my sincere regrets as to Buddy's wife passing, will always be a fan of his,
