I remember stopping at that Fosters Freeze many times when heading to LA. It was at the end of the street, adjacent to the main exit from freeway. So sad it closed. What was the name of the abandoned gas station in the video?

With so many unemployed, nomadic types, those wishing to leave the hustle and bustle of life they would come to these abandoned places and do them up, history of america has always had groups or sects that move away from others. Some of these buildings do not need much done to them to be warm and dry. Possibly being far from towns for supplies etc. is one reason but its obvious whoever the owners are they do not care about the buildings or the land areas.

It was an A& W Root beer and it had car hops we would stop on our way home from my Granny's 99 acre ranch.

Went there back in 2001?..just after it closed..everything looked like it was still open for business..except the pool was drained and the spa was filled in..eerie

There are so many abandoned ghost towns in the California deserts. I always wonder what brought people there and what made them leave.😊

Guess I missed the jump scare? Had a friend stationed at Ft Irwin, I was stationed at George AFB myself and we used to get together on our days off and explore all around the high desert back then.

I was last there in May of 2018. There was a fifth wheel parked under the gas station canopy that still had most of its shell intact, with all the innards mostly gone. And on the main, dead-end access road from I15, there was a mobile home also parked on the side of the road.
