The barrel proof bourbon and rye are both high on my to buy list When I tried the bourbon at a bar I got teriyaki jerky notes which I enjoyed

I only notice the banana on the lower proof options. The single barrels are pretty good but I think the rye is better. Find a high proof rye single barrel.

This years larceny bps arent nearly as good as c923 was. Same could be said for the elijah craigs. For high proofers i have been really enjoying my local mgm store pick jack daniels single barrel barrel proofs for 64.99.

So I have a single barrel from them and it is a very enjoyable pour. My bottle has zero oak influence. It's very soft and easy to drink. I'd call the balance way off in my opinion. Just too sweet and soft with no spice.

I love New Riff. Keep an eye out for their Balboa Rye. That stuff is amazing. Their Backsetter stuff is pretty good too, but I think that may have been a one-off release; it was essentially bourbon or rye (they made both) made with a sour mash containing peated, malted barley. It was some good stuff. I picked up a barrel pick of their bourbon not too long ago, and that was also really good. It tasted like apples and cloves. It was a great fall dram. You really can't go wrong with anything from New Riff.

New riff SIB store pick that I have is fantastic. I'll pick up many more.

I have a bottle of Old Rip paid $129 Canadian 3 years ago, still unopened.

I am new to the bourbon rabbit hole, however my 4th bottle i bought was New Riff Single Barrel at 114.5 proof and it was sooooo good!!!

Honestly the one I tried was underwhelming. Now it was at a bar and I don’t know how long it had been open or how much was in the bottle. But it really wasn’t that good. Will I give it another try sure for the price is decent and I realize single barrels can vary. And I had the same issue with Green River the regular bourbon was not great. In fact I won’t be buying another and like the New Riff I’ll give the other bottles a shot I’m a wheat and rye fan. Not sure about the full proof I’d like to try before I buy. Enjoy!!🥃🥃🥃

The one on the left is rip van winkle at about $600-$1200. The one on the right is makers mark private select at about $75 a bottle.

Their Malted Rye and Balboa Rye are both excellent.

Just finished my first New Riff Bourbon SIB. SOO approachable and well balanced.

Overall these are great, but the right picks of these are downright delicious.

Why have we been sleeping on New Riff???

The bottle I tried was very sweet but not cloying. It aftertaste changed very time to be a more fresh sugar taste, almost like chewing on sugar cane. When I added water it opened up and had a more grainy taste, almost like a whole wheat cookie. At $66 it's expensive, but I might treat myself to a bottle.

🗣️ DOES ANYONE HERE CARE ABOUT BLOOD OATH???

I've been watching the ages on these at the stores for a while. Mostly I've been seeing around 7 years 0 months to 7 years 6 months. One time I saw one 8 years 0 months.

I've only tried a couple but none of the "epic" ones. I know Copper tongue was considered one of the worst by many (bias because is Dickel) personally I like it a lot, I own one... I have considered buying other orphan barrel bottles but my main gripe is the price.. many of the newer ones have been even better but push the $200 price tag. I've actually just bought more Calumet 14,15 &16 instead. But the biggest deal and surprise have been the Dickel 15 year ($55-$70 bucks) beware that proofs vary (80-104 proof) and are single barrels. But I've had 3 different bottle ranging 90-104 proof and I've really enjoyed them all. I consider it a hidden gem bottle. I still see a lot of the 80proof ones around. I may have to bite the bullet and just buy one. We'll see. Cheers

Out of my price range. I’m sure some are good but when I can walk in a store and get a Rare breed or Knob creek single barrel for under 60 all day well that’s where I’m going. My only splurge whiskey is River Roots and that’s because they are 30 minutes from my house and they have great picks. And most are in the 75-90 range yes they have some over 200 but those I pas on I won’t pay more than a 100 for alcohol. One caveat is the new malted bottle it’s 170+ and I’d buy it in a heartbeat it’s that good. I’ve been drinking for over 45 years and their malted whiskey is the best I’ve ever had. It’s a hazmat at 140 and drinks like a 110 seriously. Has dark cherry chocolate and lemon pound cake on the nose and palate finish is ridiculously long and cherry chocolate. If you can find a Michael Symon pick from them it’s a buy period. Enjoy!! 🥃🥃🥃
