    i was in a tiny little local bookstore a couple weekends ago. they had a few boxes of cheap vinyl records for less that $5 each. i pulled out a single random record and it was none other than a compilation of Mildred Dilling’s recordings for $1, and in perfect condition. this was one of the pieces on it- the vinyl manages to do it much more justice than this recording, but lovely nonetheless!

    What an unbelievable treasure! 50 years ago in MSMU in L.A. as college nursing student, I began to study the Harp, with no one there trying it. The manual I have to this day: “Old Tunes for New Harpists” ...And now, 30 yrs a nurse, now in harp therapy for 20 yrs- Thank you, Mildred Dilling: That even the least likely harpist plays your final piece in that book: Aloha Oe, by Queen Liliuokalani-in her Iolani Palace in Honolulu. I Thank you, and bless you for this exquisite gift of a lifetime- and now, for you!

      Just to help, the first piece is actually called “La Source” by Albert Zabel. I’ve also mixed up the title of this piece and have been searching for it for years under the wrong name.

    Here we have a real "Expert" with such wonderful sounds of the "Harp" Mildred, makes playing the "Harp" look so easy, more young people should be exposed to classical music!

      It's just that these instruments are very expensive and most parents can't afford nor want to pay for an instrument their kid might not even care about as an adult. I just started harp after playing violin for years and although I hate listening to classical music, it's fun to play it or watch it played live

    • @virian2010
      @virian2010 4 года назад

      Do not be your own worst enemy, contact other people who play the "Harp" take a look at some of these "Jewish" schools, ask to have them point you in direction of other musicians. Leave your parents out of this, This is going to be where you make up your mind to focus on something you love, If i new your location i could point you in a direction, When it comes to cost, you will have to do your home work there are no guarantees and do not think of how you will feel when you get old you will not get tired of music, Harp is special, you get lots of respect when people see you play and if you are good they will tell you so with the "Money"! Don't give up, and don't listen to "Negativity.

      @@SoullessMermaidGames My 36 string harp cost £850. It's got a really lovely sound for what is a cheap harp. I got mine from a UK company called Gear4Music (I live in the UK). This is the harp I've got except mine is black. They do 22, 26, 29 and 36 string harps, also smaller 15 string harps but I don't think I'd bother with them so the 22, 26 or 29 string harps would be good for a child to learn and not break the parent's bank. Harps hold their value, even the cheaper ones. ruclips.net/video/g2IZyhGUZPE/видео.html

    A friend of mine took harp lessons from her. She had Harpo's original harp, and when Ms. Dilling pased away, she willed Harpo's harp to him. Unbelievable.

      In 1979, I worked for Theodore Presser Music Publishing in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. We published her Method for the Harp and when passed by in her travels, she’d drop in. I chatted with her once and she told me she owned over 80 harps.
