Hi Carolle, Thanks for the great question. While a paint labeled "bird friendly" will be difficult to find, from experience, many of the products available at home improvement retailers are safe to use, when applied properly. Rust-o-leum brand products, in particular, have been used before. Their multi-texture spray paints work excellent for good coverage and for blending with existing colours. Recommend using a clear sealer (Painter's Touch, for example) when finished to help protect the finish and material and to seal things off. Most importantly, be sure to allow ample time between coats and before putting the item back in use. A good rinse before filling and once the unit is fully cured (see manufacturer's advice on drying time) would be helpful is well. See the manufacturer's label for more specific information. I really wish that you would have listed the paint! I couldn't see the can do this wasn't very helpful as my foundation is a greyish Stone color.
