Whenever Columbia Records released albums outside of the USA, they would be released under the CBS Records label. Albums had orange, green, grey and blue labels with the famous CBS Walking Eye logo in the center of the record. I remember my first time hearing The Supremes' A Bit of Liverpool album bought in Germany and released by CBS Records and staring at the label in a trance and bewildered ...

Lois Wilkinson, known to Disneyland Records fans as Lois Lane, was the Disneyland Storyteller from 1970 to 1974. She succeeded Robie Lester and narrated many of the stories in the mini book and record series. In a rare appearance on a 12 inch Storyteller and a non-Disney title, she narrates the story and sings the title song to the MGM film, BORN FREE sequel, LIVING FREE. It may also be of inte...

Yes, it it THE Judy Carne of Laugh-In fame singing a number from Disney's film, BEDKNOBS AND BROOMSTICKS. Apparently, she auditioned for the role Eglantine Price (which of course went to Angela Lansbury)and recorded this tune. This track is from the studio version of the score featuring the Mike Sammes Singers directed by Tutti Camarata and this was their final Disneyland LP. STER-1326 and an e...

Fun fact: This was from 101 Favorite Children's Songs and The Best 101 Children's Songs, as well as volume 3 of 25 All Time Favorite Kids Songs.
This version of he song makes much more sense to whats happening in the film and the little ominous intro is good too
Cool! I got this LP today at a thrift store, and it has disco renditions of songs from cartoons and movies. This LP was released in 1978 on the Musicor label, the same label that did Gene Pitney, the Platters and many others to the label. Musicor was originally a division of United Artists Records back in the early 1960's. By 1964 or 1965, the label was later a division of Talmadge Productions until it was sold to Springboard by 1976 and it continued until the end of its run. This LP as you can see was one of the last albums for Musicor until the label folded. In addition to the songs, these two songs "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah" and "Chim-Chim-Chree" were later included on the "Mickey Mouse Disco" album in 1979 which was a year after this one. After 10 years of finding this album, I finally got it in my collection.
R.I.P. Judy....
I have that LP! It's also available on iTunes now, but called "Saturday Morning Fever."
Either for a re-make or a stage version, this version of this sound would be great for Eglantine to sing to the kids (mainly Paul) to explain exactly WHY she needs the use of the Bedknob, instead of just saying, "It will help end the war, but it's secret so... yea." And have the other two versions (the main song and the battle) extremely beefed up.
It's remarkable that no-one's ever tried making a stage version!
I've often wondered about a stage version. I would want this more full number in it. It would be nice to have "With a Flair" in a stage version as well. More songs and an expanded story just like the other Disney musicals
@@bransrubar And now four years later, actually since August 2021, that is exactly what we have - a musical which had its world opening in England. I haven't watched all the reviews yet but some think it is one of the best Disney adaptions (licensed, but not produced by them it seems).
Love it! John Gart was the best at bold Conn playing that didn't have to be over the top theater organ. I so wish that there were more traditional music organ players that played ( still play!) classical organs. I love the Album ' Organ On The March ' - John Gart at the CONN Electronic Organ ' which I have posted in its entirety here on youtube. I'm not one for 'type A' playing, more a baroque fan, but John Gart did it right! A master of registration. Any other recordings of him anywhere?
Always liked Judy Carne. Thought she was super cute. I had a real crush on her. Now I also think she has a great singing voice.
I had this as a kid also, but didn't recall who sang it. Thanks for posting it.
John Gart was unknown to me until i researched the orchestra who did the theme songs for Filmations Cartoon Superhero programs in the mid sixties, he was quite versatile
Thumbs up!
HOT
I put this on while I was decorating our christmas tree, last year, and I thought it got deleted, glad to see it's still here :)) Thanks for sharing !
Wow what a deep voice,The very best in my books.
Written by George Bruns and Daws Butler.
I had that album!!
I had this record when I was a kid, till my brother broke it. I loved the B-side the most.
to bad they don't do this show anymore. I watched the late 80's 90's verison.
@tenebrax its VERY EASY to get a job at disneyland.they hire ANYONE.trust me.
why do i feel so..............HAPPY and why are tears falling from my eyes? great memories of disneyland.
I have two copies of this compilation, and the EP 45. It was recorded roughly around 1950, by the same "mouse chorus" heard in "Cinderella".
I sang this in a competition back in high school. I've loved it ever since. But why didn't he do the other three verses?
OH WOW. I had this album in kindergarten!!!
@VinylRecordsForever Oh, okay. You chose them from the Audioswap library, that's why I wondered.
For once, DON'T FEED THE TROLLS!!! P.S. I wonder what's with the music on both copies of this video you uploaded to your two channels. Why metal?
This takes me back to my childhood.
Cool, I have one LP with the hypnotizing CBS dancing eye label. It's a UK pressing of the West Side Story soundtrack.
Hey! Thank you for posting !! :) How did you get a job at Disneyland Park ? :p I'm just wondering :) Do you have to have special studies, degrees, what do they take in consideration ? Hoping for your answer :)
I have this album too.How cool to see It on here.
Man, My grandad's grandad sang him this song, as he was a sailor, of an era that is now bygone, its been a tradition to pass it down generationally since then... Brings back alot of memories of Great Grandad (RIP Pappy), even though he was old he'd never fail to sing this song to me, and a fine strong voice it was, even then.
Thank you so much! I went to Disneyland in 1976 and had a tape with this version of yankee doodle......it broke....this brings back so many memories. I was 8 when we were there. Thanks again, Edith
i loved it !
love it!
We bought this record when i was a kid on a visit to Disneyland in May 1977, and still have it, something I'll always keep, takes me back to that big trip overseas and nowadays brings water to the eyes.
Jazzy
Thurl really is a legend of our time. I'm a very low base and his voice has inspired me in many of my theatrical works and characters, such as Oberon, the Grinch (Yes I sang "You're a Mean One Mr. Grinch"), and a southern Baptist Minister in the Laramie Project.
Great posting. I'd never heard this.
I love this My brother and I used to listen to this when we were growing up in the 1970's.
I have read about this album but never heard any of it. Thanks for posting!
Do you have the Kapp album where he play Beyond the Blue Horizon?
I own John Gart's 1927 Steinway piano and am very fond of his style of arranging and playing. John wrote out every note of each arrangment he created - truely an educated musician. Great video here!
Same here! I'm missing the backup singers lol
Nice video, this is the best version I've heard
I also think so
awesome!
First you stick a rag, put it in the bag (BUMP BUMP!) Then you bend your back, put it in the sack (BUMP BUMP!) That's the way it's done, it's a lot of fun (BUMP BUMP!) Cuttin' capers, puttin' papers in the bag!
Both of Lois' recordings of "Born Free" and "Living Free" are awesome, but have a Nana Mouskourish feel to them and as Nana was very popular back then so I guess it's no coincidence as to the similarities. I am a fan of nana Mouskouri and really like her music, and these 2 songs by Lois should have been big hits back in the 70s. They mya not have hit the pop charts, but they are superb songs!
I doubt it!
Beautiful song! I had this record when I was a kid and loved it then and now. I am a big Caravelles fan too! Simply lovely!
Are these the actual songs from this record? Cause I just bought this disc off of ebay and I have 2 other Lady and the Tramp reocrd without the original voices!! So im hoping this one will be!
Amazing! I think I had this record when I was a kid. Loved this song a lot! Great version of "Born Free" and I am a big fan of The Caravelles too! Beautiful and sweet!
