Almost True Is Still False (Proverbs 12:17-22)
Proverbs is wisdom from God that aims to form our character to help us live a responsible and happy life on earth. Proverbs 12 includes frequent sayings on telling the truth vs. lying.

@@tonyrigsby7113 yes, he was born again 2 years prior to the release of Shadow of Deth which contains all the words of Psalm 23. Pretty amazing given how it sounds.
Thank You! Wonderful bible verse discussion.
@@TerryStevens-yu7iv thank you for the kind words.
I wish I could say, like you, that nothing bothers me. Oh, I can say nothing bothers me when I'm comfortable but put a little suffering in my path and I don't always deal with it in a graceful manner. In other words, I don't suffer well. If you've ever read Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis then you may remember him saying that "what a man does when he is caught off his guard is the best evidence for what sort of man he is? Surely what pops out before the man has time to put on a disguise is the truth." And just being honest here.... what comes out when I am caught off guard is my selfishness. Do I always take courage knowing (or believing) that I am saved and that God is with me through my trials? No, not always. Sometimes I do, but sometimes I don't. Why do I say this? Because I realize that my selfishness keeps my focus on me and not what God has done or will do for me. This is when I am at my worst. When the focus is totally on me and not on trusting God and loving Him and others. This is what I am working on, Mat. Thanks for your videos.
@@BillyBoy66 I did not say nothing bothers me. I said I can get frustrated. Sometimes easily, especially if I’m caught off guard and the person comes across nice and sweet, but their intentions may be malevolent. Also, like you I really do not know everything God has done for me. I understand what he did through His Son Jesus Christ and he literally changed my mind 5 years ago from one of anxiety/depression/PTSD to one of happiness. Anyway, I think all of us think of ourselves first under most conditions except when we are comfortable (as you put it). We’re not perfect, so all we can do is try to be more Christ-like.
@@BillyBoy66 and yes, I did read Mere Christianity by CS Lewis; however, I do not remember that specific passage.
@@mathargett Indeed, to be more Christ-like is the goal. There are many opportunities everyday to improve on this. Question is, do we recognize them when they happen? Thanks, Mat.... until next time.

@@frankmascari1818 thanks for the feedback!
That's honestly one of the dumbest passages in that bible. What would you expect him to say? That last sentence is the dumbest of all. They were amazed. Making the unaware reader think "Oh, there must be something amazing here." There isn't. What money is it? Oh, it's the Caesar's so just hand it back. Duh. What other option? Don't pay taxes? Quick way to a cross of your very own to be made example of. That people want to comb that for some "spiritual" wisdom is just ridiculous.

@@BillyBoy66 thank you for watching and the kind words!
Great video, inspiring. Thank you.
@@kevinahern7818 thank you for the kind words and taking time to comment. Appreciate you.
I think a deeper understanding of these verses lies in focusing on the "image" motif. When Jesus asked them who's image was on the coin, they said "Caesar's". Then Jesus said, "Give to Caesar what is Caesar's, give to God what is God's." Jesus could have followed that statement with "...and who's image is on you?" referencing Genesis 1:26 where God says we are made in His image. But another interesting thing about the OT mention of "in God's image", the word translated as "in" can also be translated "as". So the verse could (and probably should) be read as, "as God's image". Being created "in" god's image doesn't require any action, it just is the image of God. But being made "as" God's image requires us to "do" something. In other words, we are expected to be His representation. Well, how do we do that? I think Jesus tells us how. He said Love God and love your neighbor, ALL of the Law and Prophets HANG ON THESE TWO COMMANDS. Love is the single most important thing in this universe because it is God's image.
@@BillyBoy66 this is very insightful. I did miss the obvious Gen 1:26. Then you went further with “in” vs “as” and ultimately to love. I might have to make a follow-up video and give you credit. Are you a pastor/preacher or biblical scholar?

Ask the Lord to help you work through your trauma bit by bit and release it (prayer, words, writing, recognising emotions trapped in the body). That's the only way to truly heal from your symptoms. Affirmations and meditations alone will not make a lasting difference without working through trauma first. I speak from experience.

As I’ve gotten a bit older I’ve naturally relaxed more which helps with patience, but when I’m frustrated, agitated or disappointed, I remind myself that God is in control, which helps my patience take over and I relax. Additionally, I do my best to be in the Word of God daily. I also meditate which puts me on an even keel. Also, I have multiple forms of unresolved trauma, and I’ve been in therapy for it, but it hasn’t fully resolved it. Yesterday I asked God to heal my trauma so that it no longer interferes with healthy things, and the next day I felt so much less of a weight on me than before. It was such a relief and I wondered why I haven’t asked Him before! I have a similar story about not being the best dad I could be when my girls were young, but I’ll tell you as a mental health therapist, that it’s never too late to repair that time. When you have a chance, if you’ve not already, simply apologize to them while describing any specific moments from then. Not only will it help them and you, but it will also teach them what to do when they need to repair. Thank you for this video!
@@danduntz2539 thank you for sharing your wisdom. There is a lot to unpack there.
Hey, I would say we shouldn't overlook many responses of Jesus when He rebuked, reproached back and would not keep silent to injustice. With nowadays Scripture twisting, fake love, Christian narcissists one would rather need the wisdom and discernment of Jesus. He let people walk their ways in spite of His warnings and eventually crucify Him; and in that moment there still was no toxicity in Him or a bitter root of unforgiveness. Instead forgiveness and obedience to the Father. But He definitely wasn't a doormat.
Good point. He did exhibit virtually all human emotions/responses during his time on earth.

◄ Matthew 24:34 ►. Jesus 2000 years ago talking face to face to the apostles. Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. "All these things" was 3 things in Math 24- destruction of temple (70 AD), end of the Mosaic letter of the law age, and the end of Gods patience, and time of Judgement (70 AD), his second coming. Jesus said to the high priest 2000 years ago ◄ Mark 14:62 ► “I am,” said Jesus. “And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven.” John 1 Jesus talking face to face with one of the twelve apostles 49 Then Nathanael declared, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the king of Israel.” 50 Jesus said, “You believe[h] because I told you I saw you under the fig tree. You will see greater things than that.” 51 He then added, “Very truly I tell you,[i] you[j] will see ‘heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending on’[k] the Son of Man.” ◄ John 21:22 ►. Jesus talking face to face to two apostles. Jesus answered, “If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow me.” ◄ Matthew 10:23 ►. Jesus talking face to face to the apostles. When you are persecuted in one place, flee to another. Truly I tell you, you will not finish going through the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes. Jesus returned sometime around 70 AD when Jerusalem was destroyed, and he raptured some of the predestined elect remnant of OT spiritual Israel which was the 144 000 in Rev 7. Revelation 1-12 happened 70 AD but Rev 13-22 is future. The second coming had nothing to do with the final judgement in Rev 20. Jesus returns again in Rev 14, 16, 19 but only to kill large amounts of people not for a rapture. Mark of the beast is coming soon. 1948 Israel, and the hexagram symbol.
