Is DIY Detail Ceramic Coating good for beginners?
I was so excited to do my very first paint correction! I’m glad I chose DIY detail products for my first paint correction and ceramic coating. All of the DIY detail products I used performed very well and were very easy to use for someone with not a lot of experience like me.
The difficult part of applying the DIY detail ceramic coating was the prep work. What you can’t see in the video was how many stains were etched into the paint because of years of neglect. I did the best I could, but removing all of the extreme etching required more skill than I had.
Other than that, I really enjoyed the process of applying the DIY detail ceramic coating. It was so easy to apply and level and I think...

Tire Sealant Test! CarPro vs. Adam’s Is There A Difference?
Просмотров 78721 день назад
In my opinion one of the most important parts of any detail is the tire sealant. Nothing can ruin the end result of a detail faster than dirty wheels and tires on a clean car. At the same time nothing quite pulls a detail together like clean wheels and tires. I’ve used Adam’s Tire Shine for many years and I love it. @@thedrivewaydetailer You sealed in some water spots or bugs marks under the ceramic coating. If you watch the video slowly you can see them in the light on the drivers side of car. Good lighting helps and you probably needed to use compound on those spots before coating.

      One thing I didn’t mention in the video was how neglected the paint was before I did the ceramic coating. The car is my father-in-law’s car. He recently bought it from a family friend whose father died recently. The previous owner had a lot of trees on his property so there was etching from bird droppings which had been left on the paint for almost 10 years. I tried getting to one spot on the hood, but it would have taken more time and skill than I had, and there was spots like this everywhere. The end shots do it no justice and I framed the shots so most of the etchings wouldn’t show. If this would have been a paying customer I wouldn’t even had done the job when I found out how bad it was, but I did it for free. Also, my father-in-law barely keeps up with his own cars so he didn’t really car what it looked like before or what the end result was. I did the job because it looked like a fun challenge. Hopefully the background helps you understand what I did and didn’t do. Thanks for commenting!

    Thanks for the video. Mega foam definitely has impressive foam and is really affordable off of their website at about 50¢ a use per once since they run perpetual sales and have gallon sizes with a free 16oz thrown in. There are just so many better cleaning and lubricious detergents out there now. Not many can compete on foam volume but I’d say that’s the least important factor. If not the most fun. lol. @thedrivewaydetailer 22 дня назад

      You can use Perl on Tires also. There’s a dilution ration on the bottle. I think the difference between the two is Perl is chemical that can be used on most rubber and plastics on a vehicle and DarkSide is formulated specifically for tires.

    • @chrisbradley3224
      @chrisbradley3224 22 дня назад

      Perl is shorter durability and a little more versatile as @thedrivewaydetailer mentioned. DarkSide has stronger solvents and is basically a polymer sealant type product. Perl is more classic in formulation. I prefer DarkSide on tires personally. The only downside is if you like to change up products a lot or mix in water based dressings. Once you put DarkSide on a tire you will need a good tire cleaner to get it off if you want the tire to accept water based dressings well.

    This sucks man. From this video, you seem like a very honest and reasonable person. I think Active should have honored their warranty. Since you're in California, we have consumer protection laws which doesn't require you to keep boxes for warranty claims. As long as you have proof of purchase -- as you do with receipts -- then you should be able to claim warranty service. Even though Active may not be based in CA, their USA website sells to CA customers and thus they will have to abide by CA consumer protection laws. Look into it. You should be able to file a warranty claim without the box as long as you have proof of purchase. Did you buy your first unit directly from Active or through some 3rd party seller? If it was through an authorize re-seller, Active is legally required to honor the warranty. Not honoring their warranty because of the use of an aftermarket hose is questionable. I believe you have legal recourse but of course that takes time, effort, and a little bit of money to sue them in small claims court.

    I have a 2007 Honda CRV with only 140,000 miles on it. It will last me for a long time hopefully. And I take care of that car like it’s brand new. It doesn’t matter how old a car is or how many miles. We all have reasons why we love them. Absolutely great job btw.

    Part of the problem with Active 2.0, is they give you a worthless 15 foot steel braided hose. Sure hope my UberFlex for occasional use doesn’t kill my Active 2.0. My Active 2.0 had the serial # on the unit.

    • @thedrivewaydetailer
      @thedrivewaydetailer Месяц назад

      I’m sure the UberFlex would be fine for occasional use. If you’re going to be using it regularly I would buy a steel braided hose. My new Active 2.0 had the serial number on the unit. It was very helpful. Thanks for watching!

      I use the Uber flex and the same problem happened with me, I just got the pressure washer 5 months ago, the engine don’t turn off, before it was going noise only when pressing the trigger, now happens the whole time

      @thedrivewaydetailer Месяц назад

      I’m sorry to hear that. If you kept your receipt, and you have the serial number you should be calling Active and make a warranty claim. You’ll have to talk to a customer service person and there will be some troubleshooting you’ll have to do, but my experience has been they stand by their product. I couldn’t get a new unit because I didn’t have the serial number for my original unit. If you get a new unit you should look into buying a steel braided hose. Thanks for watching!

      The good thing about all of the Toyotas I’ve owned is all they’ve ever really needed was basic maintenance. I change my oil and rotate my tires every 5k miles. I change the air/cabin filter every other oil change. Transmission/ radiator coolant flush and fill every 100k miles or so. Good luck on buying your first car. Toyotas aren’t the flashiest cars in the world, but they’re reliable. Great first car IMO. Thanks for watching!

    You don't use teflon tape on either GHT or M22 threads.... the leaks you probably have are either self created by using the teflon tape or over torquing and ruining the GHT washer

      Someone else made a similar comment recently. I didn’t know m22 fittings didn’t need teflon tape. I’ll have to take the teflon tape off and try again. Thanks for watching!

      @@thedrivewaydetailer Pretty simple way to know is if there's already something there for sealing like an o ring or a washer then that is what will be preventing leaks, they also don't need to be more than hand tight. However if it is just pipe on pipe then sealant or teflon could be helpful, as it helps you tighten deeper by reducing friction but also filling gaps from the imperfect threads

      @@thedrivewaydetailer all you need to do is hand tighten those quick connects. any adapters that has an O ring, no tape and only hand tight. maybe tad bit with wrench on male connect since my hands were slippery. I think your 1.1 orifice was the issue in the long run. enjoy
