an unforgetable night in the ozarks
our plans didn't go as expected. we wasn't expecting to be on the trails all night, and on obstacle almost caused us some catastrophic engine failure, but we go over obstacle and go on level surface and everything check out to be ok, we finally made it bace to camp at midnight went straight to sleep woke up and headed out of the forest to get back home

we set up base camp close to shores lake in the ozark national forest, we explore some of the trails near by and made our way to Frog Bayou. the fall color was was so vivid it almost took our breath away, the air was crisp, and to just take a deep breath to let the fresh ozark air in to your lungs was rejuvenating. we cant wait for the nest adventure. This is a friends 2014 red Jeep rubicon 2 door with Manuel transmission, while out on some trails the clutch got way to hot and got the fluid hot to the point it caught on fire.. I know I’m working on the mic situation I’m on a tight budget and don’t have all the high tech stuff everyone else has I have use what I have witch is a DJI pocket 2 awesome camera and good sound as long as the fumble is turned away from me and there is no wind thank you for the in put I need more stuff like this to help me grow. I definitely will be upgrading my mic on it

This cave is part of my childhood My family owns a cabin on top of cushman hill, My uncle earl was friends with (neighbor)chet Atkins
Those logs were not there November 2022 @11:00. Slit a brand new 37” tire at that spot on the passenger front against that wall.
I was glade those logs was their to keep me off that wall lol

if you had an older jeep you wouldnt ask the question, you would go and that is, my truck can go thought that and i dont slow down either, now you got a new jeep, full of electronics, the throttle is electric, everything its control by a computer, translation i wont go deeper than the pan of the tranny on those, because if one of those pig tail get water on it and they send the wrong voltage back the ECU gonna go wild and the BCM it gonna go wild too then you are fuck
How far is it from the parking location to the cave? I just hear "hiking path" but don't know if that's 100 yards or 1/2 mile. Thanks!
Its probably a little less than a 100 yards

What caused it to burn
Sorry for the way delayed response. On the s manual transmission the slave cylinder gets hot and catch the fluid on fire and it’s hard to put out

Great video David !! Love the trail you found and I'll be headed that way in the springtime when I have some more vacation time. I have a 96 XJ and I had some overheating problems when I was down there this last summer and I was wondering about the hood vents and if they really helped and if so where did you get them. I have the stock radiator in it now but was thinking for a 3 or 4 core radiator and putting a electric in it also. What do you think? Thanks, Mike
I have the 3 core with three electric fans and the fans do wear I’m having to replace them the rad is good at keeping it cool but after awhile they leak
@@folksyoverlanding Thanks David ! I was also concentering using a flex fan because i had one on my 86 cj7 and it worked great in the hotter climates.

I sold it it had a busted piston so I put a new one in it and it still had piston slap so I got ride of it for a more capable XJ even though I had to work on this white one
@@folksyoverlanding Sorry to hear that! Either way, cool that you stuck with the XJs. Do you find the XJs "give anything up" to the Wranglers on the trails? I'm thinking of getting an XJ or older JKU.
@@Kitty-lj8vo I like the wheel spacing, it’s simple to work on, it’s belly is tucked due to them not having a frame, it flexes well and they will go, I’ll do a walk around video one day as soon as I get these little kinks worked out.
@@folksyoverlanding Thanks very much! I have always been an XJ fan, so perhaps I'll go that way. They're becoming more rare all the time, and a built XJ really catches my eye. I think I might go that way when I start my project. Maybe I'll see you on the trail in the Ozarks one day (I'm from LR).
