Hall of fame sea kayak. It wouldn't hurt, though, to factory-rig the carry toggles so that they are no longer haphazardly trailing in the water.

Good luck doing this in open sea with big swell ... best is self rescue , using the paddle float, wet entry into cockpit, hold breath and roll. Paddle float insures 100% roll. Then get held while u pump out water, or hold self with paddle float.
I've done the same hundreds of time in bigger than 2 meter waves without a problem.....
What you are describing is a self rescue. The video is about an assisted rescue. I've done the same way as the video many many times in big surf and near rock gardens with hundreds of students. Also there is no 100% roll. If you rely on that theory you will be soon or later in a big trouble. All you need according to your theory is a broken air chamber on the paddle float. It can happen over the years from high temperatures and salty seas.

Wegen der Nichtverdrillung des Grönlanlandpaddels rollt es sich damit im Meer sogar einfacher als mit einem Europaddel. Stelios bringt's dir bei!

Hi Stephen, I need to make more tests on the boat in terms of performing. Read my blog post which has more details at www.enjoy-crete.com/wooden-kayak/ Due to COVID-19 we had restrictions and didn't have the time to paddle much the kayak. The good news is that starting from tomorrow we are not anymore in quarantine so I will be able to paddle it again more. The real test, however, will be done once I finish the next one which will be a High Volume version as I am too tight on this particular model and can't paddle it for 4-5 hours non stop for example without stretching. The new kayak will be ready mid-May and I'm already planning an expedition near the end of May with the new design. That will be the ultimate test as the island here has almost any kind of condition; from flat to force 6+ winds and 3-meter ways :) It is very light, with everything fitted 20.1 kg, paddles fast, and needs very little skeg to keep going on side winds. What is your weight/height?

@@richardburnett-_ the Eddyline Nightthawk has nothing to do with Romany....completely different boat. Romany in rough water is unbeatable.
