I create warm-up drills that are directly relevant to what I am teaching that day. I don't do warm-ups just for the sake of it. Instead, I might incorporate dynamic movements that relate to the biomechanics my students need to focus on in that class, gradually preparing them mentally and physically. I have too much material to cover in one class to spend 15 minutes on jumping jacks, burpees, and similar activities. I expect my students who want to compete to already be in shape. If they aren't, I pull them aside and show them what they need to do to reach a competitive level.

"you don't need self defence to beat someone who doesn't train" ... 1) if that were the case, there would be no bullying, most bullies may be untrained but they still use their superior strength, weight and size to bully around equally untrained weaker individuals ... therefore this argument is extremely ignorant to say the very least and 2) even if we ignore THAT, fact still stands: most people don't train ... therefore, using your logic YET AGAIN against you, it's only logical that by consequence, we shouldn't train at all ... much less in bjj ... problem solved ... but I would guess that's not exactly the reply you would expect or want, correct? Better start using some REAL arguments to illustrate the positives of bjj ... IF ANY ...

  • @SINdaBlock411

"that mma fighter used takedowns" ... that's wrestling, not bjj ... this is another thing about bjj clowns that annoys me to no end: grappling is always bjj only, UNLESS it doesn't suit our bjj flavored POV in wich case wrestling, judo whatever is fine too but we'll just say it's bjj instead ... that's not consistency, that's hypocricy

  • @SINdaBlock411

"you never want to go to the ground blablabla" seriously dude cut it out it's annoying, you exaggerate bjj's strengths and desperately downplay or even flat out ignore the UNDENIABLE REALITY OF BJJ'S WEAKNESSES ... if you don't want to hear it or discuss it, don't post this video then ... are you trying to spread WISDOM or are you simply just another BJJ CON ARTIST trying to sell your brand? "My ability to NOT end up on the ground or get up if I DO end up on the ground is far superior than people who don't grapple" ... if you end up on the ground against multiple attackers, you are DONE FOR and you should've probably worked on your boxing skills instead ... I don't care what style you practice or teach, that includes bjj ... and unlike wrestling, judo and sambo, bjj WANTS to stay on the ground, the EXACT OPPOSITE of what you should do in those type of situations ... so their argument isn't shite, YOURS is ... I can also tell by your facial expression and from your tone of voice that you're frustrated and cringing, so that tells me more than anything else that secretly you know it's true but it doesn't suit your bjj flavored agenda and so, you get visibly triggered and don't know what to respond beyond the typical delusional bjj go-to reply of something in the lines of "Oh YEAH? WELL UHM WHATEVER CUZ THAT IS LIKE YOUR OPINION MAN" LOL

no way a random blue belt can hold down Mike Tyson lol and no way a random blue belt can get up better than Mike Tyson, COME ON, I hate the hype on Mike Tyson but in this case you're just flat out delusional it's still Mike Tyson we're talking about bjj or no bjj, even a black belt would have trouble, 1 slip he punches you and limited range or not it's still Mike Tyson, you WILL back away ... assuming he doesn't knock your arse down that is ... you clearly overestimate bjj's effectiveness and severely underestimate how extremely violent Mike Tyson really is, bjj blue belts are meant to allow a smaler individual to submit a bigger UNTRAINED threat (not too much bigger though) ... Mike Tyson is several layers of impossibility to submit beyond that standard

"when a boxer takes a stand you can just run, when a grappler grabs you, you can't" ... the first part: when a boxer takes a stand you can just run ... SAYS WHO? Jocko Willink? Interesting, what is HIS bias? BJJ ... What did he also say about boxers? That knocking someone out is very hard and that even boxers have a hard time knocking eachother out ... Did he also say that boxers learn to take punishment as well as dish it out? NO!!! He did NOT!!! Why? Because he's TEAM BJJ ... Who says "you can just run against a striker" ... if Chuck Lidell wants to bash my head in, can I "just run"? No, he would 100% guaranteed catch up and beat my skull in from behind. If a boxer or striker has you surrounded and cornered, if they attack you on a staircase, in the subway or on top of a building or in an elevator ... can you "just run"? NO!!! So quit selling BS in favor of your precious bjj garbage ... BJJ is USELESS against multiple attackers and most attacks are NOT 1 on 1 ... even if they are on occasion, a predator never attacks someone whom he knows can beat him, a gazelle doesn't attack a lion, it's the other way around, and no amount of bjj skill can cope with that ... Boxers have proven time and again that they CAN survive and counter attacks from MULTIPLE attackers ... can bjj provide even a single example of this? NO!!! HELL NO!!! Bjj fanatcis are delusional and have NO ANSWER to ANY of the following examples: ruclips.net/video/HEjflWAdbiM/видео.html ruclips.net/video/ZUwleIBIhw8/видео.html ruclips.net/video/o594yiPatDM/видео.html ruclips.net/video/fFyyonxMyWk/видео.html ruclips.net/video/K_S2f7QPZKc/видео.html ruclips.net/video/wpO2DbYvsjs/видео.html ruclips.net/video/TXgrJzmlATQ/видео.html ruclips.net/video/eTws2sobLow/видео.html

Kit Dale is definitely trying to make money off of it. Greg Souders isn't. My old instructor Steve Hall once said that "Jiu-Jitsu isn't about the moves. It's about the moves in-between the moves". Steve was not an eco guy at all, but that statement hits on what eco helps build. Frank Mir says that in order to get an armbar, you need a base, a lever, and a fulcrum. Rather than spending a month teaching every possible armbar variation, I can design drills that guide the students towards base, lever, and fulcrum. They also get to find those things with certain resistance from the opponent. Not free rolling levels of resistance, but set parameters. Even my beginner level students find armbars everywhere because they DON'T drill 1000 different armbars on non-resisting opponents. Karate, hapkido, and krav maga suck because so much of what they do is unrealistic. How many times have you seen a krav maga student thrust a knife at his drill partner, then freeze and let his partner do all sorts of stupid moves. BJJ practitioners laugh at that and say things like "Ha! I wouldn't just stand there and let you hit me! I'd keep stabbing! This is totally unrealistic!". Turns out most BJJ schools do the same thing.

This discussion provides value in that it covers basically every misconception, fallacy, and talking point about why the ecological approach is bad all in one convenient place. You're willfully and admittedly ignorant, you say that people who practice it have read all of the books and studies, but that's not like secret forbidden knowledge, anyone can read that material, including you. So why not go ahead and read some material on it and find out what it actually is instead of inventing a strawman of what you think it is and then bashing that? If after actually learning about it you still don't want to do it, that's fine, but at least you will know.

There are a series of good reasons I have moved away from the traditional method of coaching and implementing Ecological Dynamics via the Constraints Led Approach. Happy to discuss if you’re willing to entertain the possibility that the standard approach is not only not optimal but also not the only way to do things.

It would take quitting my job, losing everything I had, and essentially being homeless with nothing to feed myself to dedicate reaching a black belt in jiujitsu in ten years. I wouldn't make it. If I didn't have to work and pay bills to survive it would be an amazing goal since I've been in martial arts before. To know that someone can see in me that potential I can't see for myself and willing to reward it would be great motivation. Then I could take that money and help someone else realize their potential. Realistically it's not practical.
