Thank you so much I couldn't fin that much information out there, Can you explain about the change orders? I feel stuck In the last part where I have to explain the changes with numbers the net before the contract, my mark up etc. thank you
Thank you for this video! Such valuable, straightforward information. Without trying to sell us anything. Much appreciated. Earned my sub.
Pretty cool!
How do you differentiate between the contractors and owner’s responsibilities?
This is so helpful!
When is the best time to write a contract? Before or after you meet with the homeowner?
This is a very good question. There are two parts to this. Your contracts need to be written before hand and then tailored specifically to scope of work and the client after you meet them. If you write a contract after you meet the customer this may take too long and you risk losing the job. Better to have a generic contract that you can show them, then fill in the blanks for specificity.
Thank you for the clear explanations. I am looking for a contract template, do you have any recommendations?
There are lots of standard templates out there, but it would be best to involve a lawyer to help put all the wording together. There are many types of lawyers out there, so it would be best to find a construction Lawyer who has spent time in court. This experience will help in the long run.
nice one bro, i used this for my site managers course.
Cool!
So ridents AND PEOPLE cant get into the crawl space?
Audio is fire! What mic is that?
It's the Sure Podcasting microphone!
❤bro those arches nice 👍
Those pseudo I beams last 25 years. Steel ones last forever. Your choice.
Really interesting insight into what you do.
Thank you! Let us know what you'd like to hear more about!
Usted está AKÍ....jajjajajjaa😂
This is so helpful, thanks Scotti!
POV that one girl taking off her face mask:
Not many framers Know how to use the formulas written on the framing squares. I learned this technique in 1993 and still use it today.
A) It wasn't drywall, it was plaster B) They used rock lath, scoring the back side with their drywall hammer in parallel lines, to get the shape of the curve, then top coat C) that's a curve, not an angle Any contractor calling this "drywall on an angle" stay away from
Interesting Fact. Even though drywall was invented in 1916, It never got used in residential construction until 1950. This 1950's house was one of the first homes to use drywall, cement, and plaster. The sheets of drywall were 16" X 48" and only 3/8" thick. then a 3/8" layer of cement was troweled over the drywall, followed by an 1/8" layer of plaster to finish it off.
Imperial dudes really be solving math homework trying to cut a piece of plywood 🤣🤣
Yes sir that 💯 truth, you're one of my best mentor on RUclips. Am always following your video's and it has been of help to me thanks so much sir...
I appreciate it!
This is awesome!!!
Now a days not too sure about quality building 😵💫
Our framers are always top quality. The problem is customers don’t want to pay for top quality.
i love this sm!!
So well said, there needs to be more mentorship in construction!
Yeah I got here first, live from Nigeria, I love construction 🏗️ very well, am a furniture man
But what program do you actually use to write the contract? MS Word? Something similar?
When dealing with home renovations and the owners insurance is going to pay Will one deal with the insurance or with the owner
Well done but very annoying "music".
Scotti, another Ogden here. Did you ever wonder why there are Canadian Ogden's. The Ogden's in America during the Revolutionary War that supported King George left for Canada 🇨🇦 after the war. We are an old English family. My line of our family came to Pennsylvania with William Penn on the ship the Welcome in around 1681. I have traced my line back to 1300. Best wishes on your business. I have tremendous respect for people in the trades, I am sure you have great skills 👍 😊
We order in cubic yards here.😊
Where is here?
Over value is what kill businesses. You might think you’re product is of value but remember this. Some lower priced brands are sometimes better and sells better for everyone. Perfect example AMAZON
This may be true for businesses like Amazon! They are selling products that don't always need to be of the highest quality because they are replaceable. In building homes like we do, you want it to last forever. Clients need to value a high quality home and we as contractors will provide that.
That my friend is very good advice, very well said. Another key point is expectations and there is a need to set and reset these throughout the client/contractor relationship ❤
Being a contractor is about managing the customers expectations. Thanks for your comments.
This is the best explanation I’ve found on something like this. Really appreciate the walk through step by step too. Thanks a million! :)
ruclips.net/video/G1bueal8dxs/видео.html another great example
This guy is basically a pimp
I love it. I’m not sure if this is a compliment or not but let’s assume so. Thank you.
Me too..meditation is the better way..especially at 3 am..check out ASCENSION GLOSSARY
Fantastic video Scotti, super valuable advice on how to have a mutually beneficial contract in place.
Question, do you ever charge for a proposal?
Yes we do. We hope to film that video in the next 3 months. We have a great proposal agreement that gets us in the door with the owner and gets you paid upfront for estimating.
@@ogdencontractingltd that’s great to know. The day I found your channel was the day we received a decline from a client for our services. She basically stated she was not accustomed to doing business with contractors that charge a fee for proposal services. My response was, just because you’re not “accustomed too” doesn’t mean it’s not happening. It’s typical for industry professionals to price for the services they provide. We didn’t even try to argue our point…🤝
Always good to see your videos, keep it up! 🙋♂️ Btw, are you currently seeking video editors or a thumbnail designer to enhance viewers, retention, or CTR? If yes, May I send you a previous work sample?
We are currently looking yes.
Great ideas
Thank you so much for your very understandable video. As I'm not a native English speaker. I understood the information. You have a very clear pronunciation. Thanks a lot.
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for the video. I write pretty simple contracts and was told it could bite me in the butt eventually so I’ve been wanting more details and this was exactly what I’ve been looking for. I mainly build decks so pretty straightforward but there’s lots I can add 🍻
Thank for you comment. what was the biggest thing that helped you out from this video?
Great information thank you👍
I am glad you like it.
Thank you for this
You are welcome. What was most helpful?
Great work man! Congrats... 🤝
Thank you. What is your line of work?
@@ogdencontractingltd Thanks for asking! I'm just studying the subject. I have worked with carpentry finish trim, kitchen and railing in the past, starting in 2002 till 2011, when I came back from the US. I´m a Brazilian. I'm thinking about learning more about the topic to work as a consultant, bid works and work more like a gc, finding good subcontractors that fit the work I can get. I'm really at the beginning. And I thank you very much for the attention and care that you gave with this part of the contract. Here in Brazil, I worked a lot with my father when I was a teenager and a bit far, between my 15 and 24 years, he is a lawyer and the contracts business, I have brought it with me my whole life. Now I'm an engineer, but I never left those good times abroad behind. Nice to meet you my friend! You and your family have a great weekend and life!
And i would like to know why we need consultation
Can you please elaborate? Is this a question or can I help clarify something?
Really informative! Thank you Scotti for sharing this important information.
Love such videos than seeing random cat ones
I hope the video was informative and helped you.
It was great hearing the contractors point of view so I can be fair when I negotiate with them
Thank you for your reply. We aim to educate contractors and homeowners.
Thank you for the detailed video. How much do you pay your lawyer to look over the contract?
Our lawyer helped write the original document. I think that cost around $1,500 CAD. And each time he looks it over he charges me an hour at $280. It’s cheap insurance.
