I did some minimal noise reduction, but some of the shots are quite extreme low light. The key is to try to use only base ISO’s, that’s 800/ 2500 then you will have the best results. So shooting with crop sensor a fast lens is a must, minimum f1.4 Then you really have to think about your shot selection and light, because you have to expose slog3 M.M. 0.0 to about +1.0. It was color graded because I shot on slog3 profile. Some people say it is hard to shoot slog with a apsc camera but personally it is fine with me,just maybe you have to select your shots more carefully, but when you practice you will learn eventually.

I almost bought the 10-20mm f4 but I went for 11mm because sometimes I like to shoot astrophotography and f1.8 is perfect for that. But 10-20mm it should be also really fine lens, the fact that you can zoom from 10-20mm is pretty cool 👌

Yeah absolutely agree mate 🙌 and the fact that crop sensor cameras and lenses are so affordable and high quality makes it even more attractive for people 👌

@@WhatThePheel Because I shot on the second native ISO 2500 all the scenes and that’s why some of them are a bit underexposed. Native ISOS 800 & 2500 will give you much clearer shadows and of course you can always denoise it a bit with editing software. By the way when you color grade never lift shadows up, don’t try to get all details in the shadows it will always bring noise to your footage.

@@endlessshorizon I understand how native iso work. As I quoted above, I shot in the exact same settings you had which was ISO 2500, in extremely dark scenes, even with a f1.4 lens 24fps 1/48. I had tons of noise and 2500 was not bright enough. Seeing as how you said that there was no noise reduction used, sounds too good to be true. Especially the scene with you sitting in the car, there's no way that scene had no noise at all. There must be something that's different, as it doesn't make any sense. Do you convert all your slog footage to rec 709? I find that changing the color space automatically introduces tons of noise.

@@WhatThePheel Well I don’t remember exactly what I did with this footage, normally I convert to rec709 but sometimes I just use luts. Another thing, have you tried to upload your footage to RUclips because YT compression actually gives a different look from original and it kinda gets rid of some of the noise. But this is strange for me I normally don’t have problems with noise, I mean in extreme situations yes it’s noisy, but if it’s grain I don’t mind that it gives kinda vintage vibe to the video, but if it’s chromatic abbreviation type that’s definitely not good.

S-cinetone is a color profile. It needs a bit of color grading but very minimal. So I did minimal adjustments for this video.

@@endlessshorizon you add saturation or the color is Straight from the camera? I'm considering with going up a bit maybe to +2 or +3 look nice Especially during golden hours , but i see the youtube clips and it look good too :)

Good question 👌 well depends what you want to shoot? For portraits no doubt 56mm but for overall photography 30mm. Personally 30mm is a perfect range for everything 🙂 I hope it will help you.

Well if you bought just a Mist filter then you probably need a special adapter ring from Nisi, because Mist filter does not have a thread for screwing it just clips on that adapter ring.

@@endlessshorizon yeah, you're right. I can put it onto my VND Nisi - on the top. Do you think it's worth to but that adapter or it's fine to use it with VND? Thank you for your help and time.

@avalancherune2951 It’s not necessary, I normally put it on ND, but if you shoot in low light then maybe it is handy to have the adapter ring. Also It is not that expensive so it’s kind up to you mate 🙂

Yeah the external monitor definitely is really good thing I’m even thinking to get one for my DJI drone, but for run and gun style I try to go as light as possible 🙂
