On Sunday 1st May 2022 the multi talented Pauly Zarb Experience appeared at The Mad Squirrel bar in High Wycombe as part of the town's free annual FrogFest. In an impromtu collaboration, part of the Slough based DHOL Collective (drumming school) joined them for a rendition of Sting's 'Fields of Gold'. Fair to say it went down rather well with punters.

John Otway - Aylesbury Friars 10th Birthday Party 2 June 1979 (Part 3)
Wycombe Wanderers have had several unforgettable moments in their history, such as their 2007 League Cup run and their historic promotion to the Championship for the first time ever. However, their victory over Leicester City in the FA Cup during the 2000/2001 season stands right up there with those achievements. What made this result at Filbert Street particularly special was that Wycombe fully deserved the win. It wasn’t a case of a smash-and-grab victory; Wycombe played with real determination and deservedly earned their place in the FA Cup semi-finals. Leicester, who were sitting 6th in the Premier League and just one point off the Champions League places, were stunned by the defeat. This shock loss was the catalyst for Leicester’s dramatic downturn in form. After the FA Cup defeat, Leicester only managed one win in their final 10 matches, which included a disastrous run of 8 straight defeats. This slump saw them fall to 13th in the Premier League, marking their worst finish since regaining top-flight status in 1996. The following season, Leicester’s decline continued. Peter Taylor was sacked after the poor end to the previous season spilled into 2001/02, and Leicester were relegated. This coincided with their move from Filbert Street to the 32,000-seater stadium, now known as the King Power Stadium which led to serious financial problems for the club.
Is there any chance of you posting Decades please ?
Thanks Paul, the tape sounds great just how I remember the broadcast from my bedroom in Hertfordshire all that time ago
Thanks you Martin, you are a legend in High Wycombe!
acabou a exibição de atrocidades ?
I really like how low quality the audio is, it’s honestly more immersive this way. The way that the recorder didn’t properly pick up the synth is actually kinda scary!
01:48 Great stuff, keep it up
I was at this gig and what a sh itshow it was. Just a shame there’s not a full recording. Band sounded great. They’d played High Wycombe before, but skinheads were targeting Ants gigs. About 30 skins showed up late (and drunk) and started booing and assaulting random punters. Then the skins started chanting “sieg heil” and it all kicked off. The band had had enough. Adam was really brave. Had the mic the whole time and told the skins to “F off out of it” and to “go and watch Tiswas” (which got a laugh). He said another skinhead “looked like the bald geezer from Benny Hill” (which got another laugh). More Nazi chants were followed by the worst mass brawl I’ve ever seen. Kevin Mooney leathered one skin and got dragged into the melee. It was mental. Furniture was smashed and thrown. The punks turned into soldier Ants and turned on the Skins. Skins got a kicking that night. Blood and beer all over the floor. The fuzz arrived. Bedlam. High Wycombe town council had an emergency meeting the next day and banned all punk bands from playing there.
Was anyone here in the north stand that game?
"Turn the lights off!" That was Ian who said that. Too late. All it would take was a few seconds. He had a fit and fell into the drums. Just an hour or so later, they drove to play at The Moonlight Club, and Ian had ANOTHER fit after just five numbers. Peter Hook later said they should've just canceled some of these last few gigs, but they might have been financially and professionally penalized for doing so. They did what they had to.
Probably the best performance of the song. Ian sounds absolutely miraculous, here.
I was hoping it wasnt too Christmassy and it aint...got some rock innnit! Nice treat! Their voices blend together nicely...punky prog anyone? These two should of done more together...love the blend
thanks for this! Have always loved the TRB version, and knew OF this one, but only heard it thanks to you!
Coya legends
Йен Кертис!!!!!!
Thank you for sharing this gem. Joy Division existed fir such a short period of time, and any recording is priceless. I can still feel the emotion in Ian's voice.
If Ian had not died think most of us here would never heard about them... but I wish he was alive...
IAN I WISH YOU WERE HERE
Brilliant...i was there(a Robin!)...can't remember much about the game except we were beaten...remember the good weather though bizarrely
Nice one Paul, I was also at this gig, totally amazing performance by all involved. Thank you for posting.
Awesome
This is the way informal concert recordings sounded. God bless the mobile phone.
Curious does anyone know where that white guitar Ian had is now? Worth a few bob I'd say!
Bernard played Ian's Vox Phantom VI Special in New Order and, years later, gave it to Ian's daughter. Then it was sold at auction for a large sum. ruclips.net/video/A_ggZTMi0Bs/видео.html
I don't understand a word that he's saying because the audio is such poor quality.
A lovely FM recording. I made a somewhat poorer one from my bedroom in Welwyn Garden City so it's great to hear it clearly at last!
43yrs ago...
Incredible! I was there. Thank you, thank you!!!
Me too, Ian had a seizure at the very end of their set, he did that iconic dance he is also known for, great gig all told, was 19yrs old back then
you can hear what an instinctively mad and accurate drummer stephen morris is here........
7:16 somebody tell me what he is saying
“That was joy division … another excellent gig”
great audio quality
I met a girl recently who was at this concert but she turned up late. She was gutted that she missed the strippers at the beginning of the Stranglers set but was indifferent to having missed Joy Division.
Pointless posting this with audio this bad.
He set the tone for the following decade they know it,
What???
So sad to think that 6 weeks later Ian took his own life. He has left us with a wonderful legacy that will live on for as long as music exists. #joydivision
Don’t hear them play this often z fantastic to hear and sounds just as good as the studio recording.I wonder sometimes what would have been if Ian were hear with us today..
love there cover versions wild rover running near white Christmas no sleep till.. .Belfast never heard tiger feet thanx for putting it on. HANX
We need the DHOL collective drummers at Adams Park!
Attendance for the 1993 FA Trophy Final was 32,968 fans.
Attendance for the 1993 FA Trophy Final was 32,968 fans.
That sounded like great vocals, even with the rough recording you can hear how intense that is.
👍.
So close, so far, Ian leaves us with this amazing song
Great find! I believe in the spirit of IKC
My memory of this (apart from Ian’s fit) was that Peter Hook played the entire set with his back to the audience…?
Yes that was true. I thought that he did this at every gig but I don't think that this was the case.
I was there. Aged 16. Near the front. There were a few JD fans up behind us, probably near to the recording mic. But I don't remember much applause coming from the crowd at the time.
Cousins who scored the first goal should have been sent off for a head butt. Decisions change games.
EARLY ANTS IS BEST.
Thank you ❤️
