I know this is 11 months after your post but I can relate to your post & I can give you some good advice. I broke my back in a freak accident & then got hooked on the pain medication they put me on. To make a long story short, for several years any money I made went to pills & when I ran out I was in withdrawal agony. I understand if you have to take them for your pain but I took them after I really didn't need them. I gained 50 pounds & felt totally worthless & wished The Lord would take me.everyday. I had to reach out for help. I found the right counselor. There are free Christian counselors at Churches. I found the right doctor to help me get & stay clean..3 years now. I lost the weight I gained by eating healthy & I get to keep the money I earn now instead of on pills. Even if it's less than you deserve, try to find a job sitting down that you can handle. If you're on disability, then find a worthy cause to lend your time too. If you don't have transportation, ask them to pick you up if you lend your time. Please Remember- The Lord Loves You the Same No Matter What...This is about Your Joy, Purpose & Happiness. Getting a job won't make The Lord Love you any more or less. Try to please the Lord with your time & take it on the chin until your family comes around. I can relate to family thinking lowly of me, even after I had changed my actions. It took time but they have respect for me again. The great Apostle Paul had a "Thorn in his Flesh", and he truly wished to be with the Lord but we should want to live. I had a friend so depressed he would not get in the storm shelter when a big Tornado was heading our way. It missed us but I've never seen anyone that depressed. There is hope & Bible principles to follow. I have pain in my back everyday where I broke it but it's bearable. All God wants is your best...No More... You can't beat yourself up if you are injured but do what you can & don't let your pride keep you from reaching out for help. People can be cruelly judgmental. You may have to knock on a lot of doors but keep at it & things will slowly or sometimes suddenly get better. It took me a year to feel good again after several years of agony. Some of my family had no idea how much my life had changed & it took awhile until they knew. I took this time to write to you because of those years I suffered. I enjoy life now more than most people because they didn't go through the hell I went through. Your pain will give you more compassion for others hurting. Do what you can...ask God for strength...be determined to keep knocking on doors until you feel your in the right place. Get the right counselor to help guide you. It was a relief when the 1st day I met my counselor He said, "The thoughts of not wanting to live is very common in people addicted to pain pills" For some reason that gave me some peace about my own thoughts. Once you serve others with your time...whether working a job or lending it to a cause/charity you will feel much better. It could be making wood furniture at home. Go to garage sales then sell on ebay... Whatever keeps you productive in some way that you won't feel bad about yourself. Remember the Prodigal Son story...The Father loved the rebellious son the same as the ones doing everything right. I don't want to phrase my words where if your productive God will Love you more...It's about your joy for life & being productive so you can feel good enough to then help others. I hope you are already doing better but if not, these things I've mentioned can help get your joy back. God Bless KC
