Relaxing Kayak Trip to an Island with DJI Neo Drone | Fall Colors, Fishing, & Drone Flying
In this fall adventure, I take you along on a day at Peche Island, where I blend fishing, drone flying, and kayak exploration against the stunning backdrop of Southern Ontario’s autumn colors. I start with some fishing, then capture the island's vibrant fall foliage from above with my drone, including amazing views of the surrounding blue waters and a distant Detroit skyline. Along the way, I fix my kayak pedal that came loose due to a worn-out thread and test out the DJI Neo's VPS tracking feature, letting it follow me from behind as I kayak from one beach to the next in my Azul Fishing Kayak.
The wildlife was a big highlight! I managed to snap a photo of a pelican and got an unexpected f...

    Dangerous to go against what the manual tells you. "Never fly over water" Seeing a few RUclipsrs have managed to get Neo back, others have not. My next channel will be called "Fishing For Neo's" because at this rate, the number of people who fly it straight out the box without reading the manual, soon every pond, lake and river will be full of these drones 😂

      So far I've taken it out a few times over water and its been fine. DJI might not warranty it to work over water since it might be an issue at specific times, facing the sun, when there's high glare off the water. Running out of battery is how I'm coming close to crashing almost every time.

      Same here, but this is the only video I found about a successful NEO-follow-me-over-water-trip. All others either lost control and could somehow barely catch it or crashed into the water. To be fair the DJI manual specifically advises NOT to use it over water, because it gets confused and malfunctions when over reflecting or moving surfaces. So probably the safest guess is to buy a second-hand Mini 2 or 3 for an extra 100€/$. Downside: no landing while on the water without a controller. Grüße aus Wien.

      You can select the distance & height (3 options) using the dji fly app on the phone. Or on the app you can also bring up a control wheel of sorts, and you can manually move up/down and left/right. Depending on the activity, it might be challenging if you need to use your hands for paddling for example. I think you might be able to give it voice commands, thought I haven't tried that.

      Have you tried wearing black clothes? Most likely the AI is trained to recognize the human shape. So it probably helps if you wear contrasting clothing to the background. Black is probably a good color as its easy for it to distignush from the green background of trees or grass or soil on a trail.

      @@pf9256 It doesn't matter if I put on a tuxedo, be naked, or wear a Spiderman costume, I have solar panels on my trike and the drone can't see me. I'm not even sure if DJI's active ( with controller) will recognize me as a vehicle. But maybe in the near future a third party app such as Litchi or Maven will add follow-me. By which I mean GPS follow-me. I much prefer that over optical tracking.

      Good but could be better. Depends on your use case. Sits low in water, so water gets in, especially if you're heavy. Scuffer plugs will need to be replaced. Feet rest far away from seat. Heavy to transport and lift. Ergonomics seem to be for a skinny guy with long legs. But then it would be too heavy for him to lift it. For occasional use, I would get a smaller, lighter, easier to transport kayak.

    • @pf9256
      @pf9256 7 месяцев назад

      Hello, I'm mostly happy with it. However if you can get away with it consider purchasing a 10 foot kayak from Costco. This one is pretty heavy to move around. The 10 foot fits in my car. And the effort saved from peddling, is pretty much awash if you go with a lighter 10 foot kayak. Also this kayak sits very low in the water. So if you are above 220lbs or so, it might not be the best in that regard. It gets water into the kayak with the scuffers open. So you would have to keep them closed. And scuffers will need to be replaced. On the positive side, I found the seat very comfortable and overall its a good kayak. And it has lots of space to take things with you.

    This was a good video man. I enjoyed watching you put your kayak together. That is a nice kayak you got too. It looked so easy to put together too. I am looking for a pedal drive kayak for fishing but I having problems with the pedal on the kayak. Question do you know how wide the pedal are? The problem that I have is I have big & very very Extremely wide feet 🦶 sz15 6E wide ( which is very very extremely wide ) with very chubby fat wide toes that are Evenly straight across making my foot very very Extremely wide at 6 1/2 inches wide from my big toe to my lil toe. My feet 🦶 will not stay on the pedal because of how wide my feet 🦶 are. It suck having Extremely wide feet 🦶 that are 6 1/2 inches wide. I have to kayak barefooted 👣 because of this. So i am looking for a pedals drive kayak with wide pedals on it. P.S. man it cool to see your toes almost looks like my toes do. I like how your toes are spread out at a 45° Degrees angle. I wish my toes were at a 45° Degrees angle like your toes are Instead of being Evenly straight across. I can't wear shoes , socks , or boots because of how my toes are Evenly straight across. Shoes are made for toes that are at a 45° Degrees angle not for toes that are Evenly straight across. I can only wear flip flops 🩴 which barely & i means barely fit on my feet 🦶 because my toes are wider than the flip flops 🩴 straps. I also like your flip flops 🩴 tan you have. I have a flip flops tan all year long. Good video buddy thanks you for sharing it.

    I have the 2018 Performer 11 (yellow/white) and added the 2021 and they are built like tanks with high quality materials, zero flex due to using triple stringer layers (only board to use 3 stringers for rigidity), new board has a center D-rings so easy to use with a stadium seat. Sold off my Red Paddle board (paid $1200) as I disliked their wonky system of having to insert a batten (plastic stringer) on each side and not fun. Easily the most durable inflatable board made and why many rental companies use them for their fleet.
