    Very interesting video :) I'd propose that there is another side to the coin, which goes hand in hand with doing good deeds. I believe one without the other is only the partial truth, let me know what you think about it! And that is an actual relationship with God. In 1 Cor 1:9 we read: _"God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord."_ Throughout the Bible we see God reaching out to us and calling us to Him - from the prophets in the Old Testament to Jesus himself who said _"I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance."_ (Luke 5:32) You see, since the Fall (when mankind lost their relationship with God in the truest sense) our human nature has been corrupted by evil, and the things we do that we deem "good" are defiled because of it. As Isaiah 64:6 says: _"All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags."_ How does a relationship with Jesus overcome this problem? Titus 2:14 says that Jesus _"gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good."_ One of the amazing things in the Bible is that it responds to itself. So, Isaiah 64:6 said that we are "like one who is unclean", and in John 15:3 we get Jesus' reply: _"You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing."_ PS: Is it okay if I keep calling you Neri, or would you prefer if I called you UBL from now on? ☺

    Very well explained :) I know very few people only who understood that the Lord's Prayer is not meant to be recited once a day and that's all about it. In fact you just need to go to a church and listen to the people reciting this prayer - and you will feel that it's not even done wholeheartedly. What is the sense of that? That's not how you talk to your Father in heaven. The word "prayer" is so used and misused today that I usually prefer to say "talking to God". Because that's what it is. Praying is not a litany, and it's also not just a "last resort" in an emergency. To pray should be as natural and personal as talking to your earthly father. By the way: do you think the part _"give us this day our daily bread"_ could also be understood in a different way? It reminds me of Jeremiah 15:16 "When your words came, I ate them; they were my joy and my heart’s delight" and of John 4:34 "“My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me"". Perhaps this part of the Lord's prayer shall remind us to ask God to reveal more and more of Himself to us, to "feed" us by His word.

    I understand the Bible exactly the same as you in this regard, and when I read it it made me think about Jesus' command to "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation" (Mark 16:15). Doing that pretty much _forces_ everyone to make a decision, because as soon as you told someone about God and salvation through Jesus Christ the excuse of nescience becomes invalid for that person. But then I realized that being saved by Jesus is a million times easier than following the law by instinct. How many people do you know who never lied, never stole and never committed adultery without knowing Jesus? When I look at the world today it seems to me that lying, stealing and sexual impurity are almost considered "normal". I guess that's why Paul says "for *all have sinned* and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus" (Romans 3:23-24). The good news is that God judges people (including those who never heard of him) not only by their bad deeds but also by their good deeds, and there is hope for those who never heard of him. The not-so-good news is that it's kinda impossible to keep the law by instinct (I mean, we can hardly keep it by our own strength, effort and willpower even when _knowing_ it!). I would also like to add that I believe that God is fair. So fair, that he gives everyone the choice to accept him. There are lots of testimonies from muslims for example, who were isolated in their religion, never heard of Jesus and then suddenly he appeared to them in a dream. But I believe that even _if_ there are people God does not reveal Himself to then He will judge them accordingly. God knows best what a person knows and not knows, and He always judges by the heart. Also, the question "what happens to those who never heard of Jesus" is always raised by people who _know_ of Jesus (logically, since someone who never heard of Jesus cannot ask questions regarding Jesus). Those people I would always answer like Jesus does in John 21:22: "What's that to you? Make sure *you* are saved!"

    • @untaughtbiblelessons
      @untaughtbiblelessons 3 года назад

      Exactly! We should never assume nor presume what will or will not do/decide. His thoughts and ways are not the same as ours. And that's why He taught us not to judge others no matter how heinous the crime they commited.

    • @friedrichrubinstein
      @friedrichrubinstein 3 года назад

      @@untaughtbiblelessons By the way, I wish you all the best for finding the "true" denomination, but don't be too sad if you don't. I haven't been to a church since I was about 12 years old. Until I was 10 years old my family went to a Lutheran church but reading the Bible a lot they pointed out the things that are not taught correctly there, so the pastor pretty much kicked us out of the church. Then we attended another church for a while but left it eventually because they didn't acknowledge my brother's and my baptism (we were baptised as babies and not adults) and therefore did not allow us Communion. Since then I have never been to a church anymore and the only "religious labels" I assign to myself are "Christian", "Fundamentalist" and "Creationist". Yet I feel close to God and my life is visibly guided by Him. Sometimes you can be a better follower of Christ if you spend your time listening to God through the Bible directly than listening to someone preaching on a pulpit.

    _When you think you have to wait a week for the next video and there it is already, 2 days later!_ Nice :D I like that you also took a look at the scientific evidence of God's love. Creation can tell us a whole lot about God, and the earth is special in many ways. There are sooo many details that are necessary to allow life to exist and I can't list all of them either, but here are a few others: the rotation of the earth, the inclination of the axis of the earth, the exact composition of "air", the incredible and exceptional characteristic of water to be lighter in the solid state than in liquid state and so on. Not to speak about all the miraculous details regarding the body of living organisms. As a scientist I keep on being amazed! I find there also to be something fascinating about the way God protects His people. You know, it's not that kind of protection that Christians cannot get hurt or that nobody will ever break into a Christian's house. God _does_ protect us all the time from various things, but sometimes He allows "bad" things to happen to us as well - just that He turns them into good things (either in a physical or a spiritual way). A little example from my grandmother's life: One day her purse was stolen. Which was rather unfortunate because she had planned to take a flight with my aunt a few days later and now her ID card was gone. So my grandmother requested a temporary ID card, and that's when the office told her that the other one had actually expired. My grandmother would've never noticed that and wouldn't have been able to go on the plane. Only by getting the purse stolen she got the ID in time. In addition to that some guy, who happened to be a Christian as well, found her purse in the roadside ditch shortly after. The money was gone but the important things like bank cards and stuff was still there.

      Exactly! it is so hard to list every single thing on our planet that shows the wonders of God's creations. even scientists are still baffled about some of their discoveries, while other discoveries still remain a mystery until now. we humans have a memory that often forgets them so we need a reminder of God's grace every now and then. i would have wanted to add more of them to this video, however, my own knowledge and capabilities might not be enough LOL brother, thank you for sharing your thoughts and experiences, they're a great support to my videos. i hope both you and i can touch more people's lives and i hope i could inspire others to read the bible more and get closer to God through my videos.

      @@untaughtbiblelessons Absolutely true, we walk through the day and take everything around us for granted. There even might be more people thinking "ew no, snow again, so annoying and cold" than those who admire that no two snowflakes are alike. Each and every snowflake is different from every single other snowflake! Multi-billions of different crystals. Mind-boggling. We know quite little about what eternity will be like, but quite often I wish that we can still do science on the New Earth. • @friedrichrubinstein
    @friedrichrubinstein 3 года назад

    You chose a BIG and heavy subject there :D The evil, pain and suffering in this world are one of the main reasons why so many people refuse to care about God. I like to spend a lot of brainpower on topics like this but I was (positively) surprised by your statement that God has to have the same patience with the devil as he has with us - and therefore could not kill Satan immediately. Usually people just acknowledge Satan's existence and ask instead "why does God give him that much power, why does God not protect us?" instead of asking why God allowed Satan to stay alive in the first place. So yeah, because of His justice combined with His plan to be patient with _us_ God couldn't have killed Satan right away. Good thought! Yet we might have to dive deeper into it. Because God not only allowed the devil to stay alive but He also gave him power in this world and allows him to constantly attack even believers. And that's where I dare to say that Satan serves an actual purpose in God's plan with Creation. If God's only goal was "heaven" then this earth is a failure. I believe God to be mighty enough to achieve his goals, so there must be a reason why we live on this earth and not in paradise. When you know that an infinite, perfect God has created you and me, there are only 4 possibilites of God and creation. 1) God would create nothing at all. 2) God would create a world without such thing as good or evil. 3) He would create a world where we only choose good. Or 4) to create this world where there is the possibility of good and evil with the freedom given to us. This last one is the only of those 4 worlds where love is possible. Love is the supreme ethic in our world, and this is the only of the 4 possibilities in which love is given to us as a legitimate possibility. Remember that God wants to have a relationship with us. God does not want mere string puppets with Him who comply because they got no choice. He wants those in heaven with Him who _actively_ chose Him! Earth is a place of decision. Jesus said in Mt 22:37 "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment". Real love can only exist if there can be hate. We can only choose good if there is evil. And we can only _choose_ God if there is a devil. A Christian apologist was asked the question once: _"If God is love, why is there so much pain and suffering in this world? If God is all-powerful, why doesn’t he ‚stop the trigger‘?"_ - His answer was this: "God wants a relationship with everyone of us. What is important in a relationship? Love. But you can’t have real love without the possibility of hate. Real love requires the freedom of the will to love or to not love. If love is a supreme ethic and freedom is indispensable to love, and God’s supreme goal for you and for me is that we love him with all our heart and love our neighbour as ourselves, for him to violate our free will would be to violate that which is a necessary component so that love can be expressed. If you’re asking for God to always stop the trigger, why not make God stop everything else? Next time you hold a cup of boiling water he makes it frozen water instead. Next time you’re about to cross the road and you’re gonna be hit he pulls your leg back. What you are asking for is a different entity than humanity. As wonderful as it may seem that in stopping that you think he is protecting you from that which is destructive - the greatest denial that you’re asking for is the freedom of your will to be able to choose and to love God with all your heart and all your soul. When you’ve got love as a supreme ethic and the freedom of the will to choose that love, all the other contingencies come in and can be explained; why it is possible to either choose or to reject. If you want compliance and some kind of a mechanical response your question itself will self-destruct: You are asking this question because you are free to ask it, and you are free to ask it because you are free to love. And when you love God in spite of all the contraries that you see around us you are trusting him for having the supreme wisdom and the knowledge to ultimately bring a pattern out of it all."

I have run away from home many times and even developed a tendency to escape from reality as a way to cope. I was able to come to terms with everything in my life because of God and because i have learned the many facets of God's personality as well as His reasons for doing what He did as it was written in the bible. Remember i said previously that God, like us, has many facets in His personality? Just like us, He has feelings too. Check out my other video about this topic. And so, apart from being the embodiment of love, God is also the embodiment of justice. In the olden times, due to God's complete justice, the punishment is different for humans who disobeyed the law/commandments, especially for those who refused to atone for their sins. -- that's where "an eye for an eye" or "blood for blood" originated from Breakers of the law/commandments should be punished equally. For example, the people of Sodom & Gomorrah as well as the people during Noah's time were given plenty of warnings to stop their evil acts, however they just scoffed and refused to change. And so, in His justice, He had to punish andbobliterate the evil while saving the good people who were left. God did not want to do this anymore, because He favors humans so much (but He still had to carry out His law and justice) that's why He sent His Son, Jesus, to take the burden and offer up His blood for us sinners. Jesus had to take the punishment for us so that we, humans will have a bigger chance of salvation. And because Jesus was sinless when He lived as a human, He only needed to offer His own blood once to save us. It is now up to us if we would like to receive God and Christ's offer of salvation.

God's presence is too powerful that we may die if we are in His direct presence. That's why God covered Moses' eyes when He passed by. One other person has seen God and its apostle John. @@untaughtbiblelessons We are all a work in progress, and it's one of the most relieving biblical truths that salvation is not earned! Salvation is a free *gift* from God and we cannot add _anything_ to it. Yes, we are supposed to keep God's commandments, but not by our own strength. Philippians 2:13 says *"it is God who works in you to **_will_** and to **_act_** in order to fulfill his good purpose."* I used to try to be obedient by my own willpower (and I sometimes still do because I am a proud guy and want to do it myself). It never went well for long. Only God can _change_ our will, and He will do so when we ask Him to. That's one of the deep secrets of following Jesus. There is a good fear (holy fear) and a paralyzing fear of God. The former leads us to respect, honor and praise God, while the latter makes us feel unaccepted by God. What you said sounds like you don't feel good enough. But Neri, you already *are* accepted by God. Paul says in Romans 5:1 *"Therefore, since we **_have been_** justified through faith, we **_have peace_** with God through our Lord Jesus Christ."* You see, we *have been* justified, we are no longer sinners. It's like this: I am German, and German is my mother tongue. Even though I can speak English I will always be German. The same way we are justified, and even though we can sin (commit the act of sinning) we will always be righteous (provided that we repent). Jesus did everything necessary to justify you in God's eyes, and He'll be happy when you stop fearing Him who loves you more than you can even imagine <3

    • @untaughtbiblelessons
      @untaughtbiblelessons 3 года назад

      Thank you brother 😊 I'll be happy to answer your question regarding Luke 23:43 1. Let us look into that verse on a grammatical standpoint. Remember that the Holy Scripture, even though it has been written as it was willed by God, He still needed to use human hands to write them since the book was intended for humans. And although these humans have been inspired by God's power through the Holy Spirit, there's still the possibility of human error in transcribing God's words depending on the bible scholar who transcribed it. And so, it is possible that the comma punctuation in that sentence may have been written incorrectly. Let us read it now: "Truly I say to you today, you will be with Me in Paradise." Also, look at the word "will" (or shall/shalt in other bible translations) in dictionary terms it is defined as -- "expressing the future tense." 2. Let us also observe Christ's nature and the way He spoke to the people during His ministry on earth. Many times people, even His apostles did not understand His words and He had to re-explain Himself. That's because He is God and the way He spoke definitely was on a different level than humans. And the way He thinks, including His notion of time, is different than ours. Consider 2 Peter 3:8 -- "But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day." 3. Finally, and in connection with my 1st point above, this is the reason why we must find parrallelisms and make correct connections and comparisons between verses across the books in the bible. Do read again 1 Thessalonians 4:15 in my video where it says the dead will not precede the living. That is referring to the judgment day and let's talk about it in my next video. Hope i made sense in this response 😊😊😊

      @friedrichrubinstein 3 года назад

      @@untaughtbiblelessons Thanks for your response! I've heard that comma-argument before somewhere and I'm glad I am able to read Greek. There are about 5,000 copies of the New Testament in the original Greek language existing still and they indeed say "you will be with me in paradise today". But if you are satisfied with the 2. point that's fair enough. To your 3. point: When Jesus talked about heaven/his Father in heaven he never used the word "paradise". In Greek there is a distinction between Heaven and Paradise, just like there is a distinction between Hades and Hell (which are wrongly translated by the KJV both as "hell" btw, the NKJV fixed this error). So, 1 Thess 4:15 is absolutely correct as there is no dead in heaven/hell before the Great judgment. But where are Lazarus and the rich man in Lk 16:19-31 then?

    That's very true. We tend to forget that we have a personality because _God_ has a personality. We have feelings because _God_ has feelings. We are created in His image after all. It's true that God hates. The difference to our own understanding of hate is that God does not hate by selfishness. God hates evil because God is good. When we hate someone it is usually because they hurt us. When God hates something it is because He is so just and fair that the evil enrages Him. Similar with God's jealousy and revenge. When we are jealous we begrudge someone. When God is jealous He is (rightly) angered by the fact that the people _He created_ don't honor Him, don't care about Him at all. When we take revenge on someone we do it for our own ego. When God takes revenge on evil/godless people He does not do it for His own ego but for justice. He does not punish anyone more than they deserve it, not even a little more than that.

    Most of God's Do's and Dont's are quite clear, but there are a few which are not as clear-cut. Take earrings for example. Would you define them as piercings? You are basically making a hole through your ear. But then read Ezekiel 16:12 where God himself says *" I put a ring on your nose, earrings on your ears and a beautiful crown on your head".* If earrings are an atrocity in God's eyes, would He put earrings on His wife? Or look at Exodus 32:2. The Israelite women were all wearing earrings. I would reject all kinds of body-piercings but allow earrings afterall. Another example are pants. People say that women are not allowed to wear pants because of Deuteronomy 22:5. Do you know how many men were wearing pants in biblical times? None. Pants did not exist. Joseph had a cloak (Genesis 39:12), Jonathan a robe and a tunic (1 Samuel 18:4), the Pharisees had robes (Mark 12:38), Jesus a robe and an undergarment (John 19:23) and so on. And what did women wear at that time? Pretty much the same. Then where was the difference and what does God mean by His command that women shall not be clothed like men and vice versa? I can only guess about the real difference of the robes worn by men and those worn by women at biblical times, but I would guess that the difference were the cut and the coloring. Maybe male-robes were less filigree or something. God created man, male and female He created them. And He wants us men to be men and you women to be women. What God doesn't like is when someone acts like the opposite gender. So, one should be able to determine a person's gender by the clothes they wear. This does not mean "women cannot wear pants in general" though. There are pants made for women! You could, as a woman, also wear pants and a blouse since the latter is a female cloth. The real no-go's are men with skirts or dresses or maybe, if you are picky, women with jeans and t-shirts (which are somewhat not gender-specific?). I dunno.

      Thank you for your comment. 😊 Let me explain chapter 16 of the book of Ezekiel, including Ezekiel 16:12. In that chapter the discussion was not about a human female being adorned with jewels, earrings, and fine linen. God was actually referring to the church He founded in Israel. You will find that throughout the bible, the church of God is often referred to as a woman. The Son of God (Jesus), He's sometimes called the Son of Man and also the bridegroom of the woman (the church). When it was written in Ezekiel chapter 16 that the woman was adorned by God with earrings and bracelets of gold and silver, given honey and of finest foods, and clothed with fine linen, that chapter was actually talking about how God adored Israel and how God favored His church founded in Israel. It was all symbolic. If you will continue reading the chapter, it will explain how God's church in Israel (with the Jews) became corrupted and prostituted itself by worshipping pagan idols instead -- it can clearly be referring either to the time the Jews worshipped Baal or the establishment of the Roman Catholic church where pagan rituals got mixed with Jewish/Christian traditions.

      @@untaughtbiblelessons You are absolutely correct. But does it matter regarding piercings whether it is symbolic or not? I mean, in that paragraph God uses the symbol of earrings as something positive. How could we say then that they are as bad as other body-piercings? I don't think God would use earrings as a symbol of love and affection of a husband towards his wife if He did not want us to wear any. Now, I would never recommend or give someone the idea of getting earrings, but if someone wanted to get them I don't think they would sin. Do you see them as included in God's command of not getting any piercings and do you think it's wrong to wear earrings?

God wants us to always have Him in our minds and to always do what we are meant to do --- that is, we are meant to do good works toward others. They don't think about Him because they don't feel like they need Him. In the end wealth is dangerous for our relationship with God and that's why Jesus said *"It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God".* Not because richness is a sin, but because richness easily makes us not care about God.

    Good video :) You actually answered the question about God's origin when you quoted Psalms 90:2 *"from everlasting to everlasting you are God".* In my mother tongue it says "you are without beginning and without end". We find that quite often in the Bible, and I guess it is the limits of our logical thinking which dismiss this truth about God's origin (or - missing origin) as an excuse for nescience. Many people (atheists) say "if the universe had to have a beginning then God has to have a beginning as well". But this way of thinking implies that God is as small as His creation. The basic assumption in this statement is that God is natural and therefore needs a cause - because everything in this natural universe obeys the law of cause-and-effect. But God is not natural. In the same way that the inventor of a TV is not powered by electricity and in no way depends on the things the TV depends on, God does not depend on the things He created. God created this universe and made it obey the law of cause-and-effect, but that means that God is greater than this law. God is above this law. That's why we call Him _supernatural._ Is the idea of a God without beginning absurd? Well, what do you believe _eternal life_ is? Our soul will exist forever and ever. In all eternity. Without end. Our soul is basically as "eternal" as God - we have a beginning, unlike God, but no end, just like God. Where is the difference between "eternity without beginning" and "eternity with beginning"? There is none. If eternity exists then there does not have to be a beginning. Now think about it logically. Let's reject the idea of "eternity" completely and say everything needs a beginning. For the sake of the argument let's assume God *does* need a beginning. Then someone created God. Who created that someone? Another one. Which was created by someone else. A different someone created that one. And so on. We get a chain of "creations". Where does this chain start? Well, since every link of our chain needs a beginning by our presupposition that eternity does not exist there is no first link. Because if there was a first link then this first link had no beginning, no creator. Right? But if there is no first link, no beginning of the chain of creations, then we *have to* go back to the concept of *eternity.* We have to assume an eternal chain of creations then. It is the only solution. But being forced to accept the concept of "eternity" in any case there is nothing that prevents us from believing the Bible which says "there is not an eternal chain of creations but only 1 link in that chain - only one God!" Instead of an eternal chain we got an eternal God!
