Northeast Trainman
Добавлен 1 мар 2023
As my handle suggests, I'm a man from the Northeast (US to be exact) who's a fan of trains. Although my foray into creating content on trains is new, my fandom is not. I've been an enthusiast since a kid, and retained it thus far into adulthood. Funny enough, I came up with "Northeast Trainman" when I was a kid, so perhaps I have clairvoyant abilities?
So, after watching people / channels like Jersey Mike, Fan Railer, Chuchubob, Retired Railfan Horn Guy & countless others, I said "why don't I give this a shot?" So, I did & here we are.
My channel consists of train videos from real life & virtual / videogames. I'll upload videos at various times, as I mentioned I've been a railfan for some time, I have videos predating this account. I also have videos after I started this that I didn't upload / make public yet.
In any case, welcome to my channel & thanks for watching. If you're compelled, feel free to subscribe as I upload a tad frequently. All aboard. Take care & be good.

Difficult Run - Amtrak Regional 177 [Cab Ride]: Boston - Providence | Train Sim World 3

Following Cab Signals is KEY. The Amtrak Northeast Regional 177 timetable service from Boston South Station to Providence in Train Sim World 3 is one of the most difficult runs I've done. About 90% of these runs are pretty straightforward 35-40 mins, with minimal interruptions. All was smooth until I passed Sharon station. At that point, the cab signals began to fluctuate because I was getting ...

Will Warminster Line Train 6480 be next?
Don’t know. I wasn’t on that platform that day @ that time.
Great video thank you this is exactly what I was looking for.
I believe that was 9345 for Wawa Station.
Very well may have been. There were alot of delays that day due to switch problems near Wayne Junction, so I lost track (pun intended) of the specific train numbers.
Hey I know this train! I’ve been on it a bunch! I love this video it’s just awesome
Nice
Awesome Video! Keep up the great work!
Thanks man, I appreciate it. Thanks for filming your video in real life. That's how I learned about it in the first place.
How did you get that paint train
What are they building?
probably a building
I like these. I know sometimes they get leased to NJT.
8:12 202 has the best P32AC-DM K5LA of all
I don't know why they couldn't just use the Metroliner cab cars for Northeast Regional services all the time, because it saves having to run around with the locomotive.
Amtrak barely has enough to begin with. The Keystone Service uses the majority of them & the Hartford Line uses them too. Metroliner Cab Cars were made from a number of previous Metroliners, so Amtrak never “planned” to have cab cars in that aspect. Similar to how they made NPCUs, an extended stopgap of sorts. It was easier to convert existing equipment than to order new cab cars. That said, Airos are on the way, but that’s another subject.
Are they still putting up new poles and constant tension wires through here?
I don’t know what the deal is. Amtrak may be updating the catenary in that section to constant tension.
Great video it’s just awesome
Thanks Jax, I appreciate it. I tried to get the best shots I could while braving the elements. Glad you enjoyed my video.
Like Penn, are they also restricted from blasting their horns here?
no, there's just no need to in most cases.
☺️

NJT #4424 is now living a good life with URHS. Before the donation to URHS, she was in indefinite storage awaiting an uncertain fate until NJT was feeling generous and decided to donate her. Who knows? Maybe she could be used in excursion service for the URHS of New Jersey

@@NortheastTrainMan WDYM?
@@user-pn8mm4wt5l what? You made a wrestling reference, so I thought you understood mine. Cody Rhodes “finished his story” at Wrestlemania 40, so I jokingly said this train finished its story at its final stop. That’s the same match Undertaker made his appearance in.
@@NortheastTrainMan Oh.

203 looks terrible I think it deserves to be a last Heritage Unit but will have to see if somebody could make a judge about that.
I've been hoping it would be the new Heritage Unit as well, although I do like the decaying paint for some odd reason
I ride this line about 5 days a week. The progress being made is excellent and they are 2 weeks ahead of schedule. Good pictures are online of the construction.
"promo sm" 🙋
Is it named that as a retired member or he’s the first one to drive the first ACS-64 unit?
Neither. David L. Gunn was the President of Amtrak from 2002 to 2005. Although he was fired due to what appeared to be opposing visions for Amtrak between him, the board & certain politicians, he left his positive mark on Amtrak. So in 2014, Amtrak decided to name ACS-64 No. 600, their first ACS-64 in revenue service after him. How did I learn this? A 5 minute Google Search.
it's 2024, a large city, and the railroad still isn't electrified ... interesting to see. Unfortunately we have a few regional lines which aren't electrified to this day either, then you see some of their diesel trains running on electrified tracks into the city, but the track in the video isn't even electrified
The track in this video is electrified with 3rd rail and has been since the early 20th Century, so over 100 years. The locomotive is a dual mode one, capable of running on both 3rd rail and diesel. Since these are limited in electric, they tend to use diesel on most, if not all open air sections of the railroad. Not all electrification is overhead catenary. You've been to Grand Central right? All passenger trains in the immediate vicinity use electric.
@@NortheastTrainMan yeah 3rd rail which is usually used by subways, depending on the region maybe also commuter trains, but barely any large trains. Obviously it was running on diesel here.

I remember when those PCL Signals were Position Light Signals with only yellow bulbs. The train operators had to know the basic aspects by position-only with no colors to give a "hint",
If the train operators are on the Main Line / Keystone Corridor, they still have to know, and even within certain station interlockings. But I see where you're coming from. There aren't too many places with WELL LIT PRR Position Light gantry singals in Amtrak territory. AFAIK only LIRR (to a lesser extent, SEPTA) is carrying on tradition. I captured some at QUEENS interlocking ruclips.net/video/YbZMpnS0tHI/видео.html
That's Limited Clear at 14:29
Ah, you're correct. My mistake. I amended it.

They're making amazing progress on the new platform
Oh yes, most definitely. I imagine, or at least hope that the new platforms will be used in their entirety. The current ones are sectioned off, and platform maybe 4-5 cars. The new ones should come in handy for any additional / longer trains Amtrak may operate through here.
This one simultaneously managed to be more realistic than Railworks

Nice Video Catch ,it's been a Long time since I've seen a Metroliner Cab car in Push mode Full length Consists ..N.E.C
Glad you enjoy it. As of this video, this is the only train on this section NEC that uses a Metroliner Cab Car. Its (the cab car’s) days are numbered, so I try to catch them whenever I have the chance.
Happens in real life all the time.
You’re right. I saw it too, I just didn’t have my camera on me. One day I’ll catch that on film.
@@NortheastTrainMan HAAA 😂
These engines are loud
For sure. Most of these diesel locomotives are, especially in enclosed spaces. Jamaica is obviously open air, but hearing a GP40 say in 30th Street or a F40 in Boston is LOUD. I can see why some engineers wear those headphones or ear protectors.
Thanks for the name drop 😅 it's a fun location, but I need to get some shots of the dwarf signals to the south.
No prob man. I been a fan of yours for YEARS before I started the channel. I have to get a look at the dwarfs too, next time I’m out there. Thanks for the courtesy. Some people on here act like I’m trying to gain something from them when I shout them out. Like dude, I’m just giving props, get over yourself & relax. Glad you get where I’m coming from.
@@NortheastTrainMan I'm like from the 1.0 internet before it got all cutthroat. If you know my still photo blog, I'll have a lot of NJT signal content this upcoming year.
Four hundred and zero :troll:
What is that loud, annoying noise in the background?
I could argue it’s subjective but we’ll agree to disagree. The Amfleets are over 50 years old, and even though they’re refurbished, the ride at times can be rocky. The sounds I think you’re referring too are likely the fold out desks in the seats & possibly the seats themselves. Be advised my camera can make certain sounds come across louder than they would in “real life.” In other words, it’s not overtly noisy in there.
Is Track 1 staying in its original location or will it be moved onto the spot where Track 2 used to be in order to speed up passage through both interlockings?
I don't know for sure. But I imagine they'll keep Track 1 in its current spot, the track is still there, it's just covered up. I think they'll keep it where it is because Amtrak is the only passenger railroad serving Lancaster on the Keystone Corridor. With the current demand & all trains stopping there, the layout works just fine. The only thing that would speed it up right now, would be finishing the platform, which would negate the need for constant crossovers. I imagine eastbound trains have to slow down when crossing over. If they can get back to maintaining track speed when entering & leaving the station, that should suffice. The current schedule seldom has trains holding at CORK or CONESTOGA. It's not busy to that extent. If demand dramatically increases, they might bring it back to the PRR days with more tracks. Who knows? Amtrak is working on getting another Pennsylvanian trip, so we'll see. But it's likely a long time before that might happen.
They're already starting to be withdrawn
On the Pennsylvanian? With what? I haven’t seen any ALC-42s on the Pennsylvanian yet.
How did you get to the platform?
I was only there briefly after departing & before boarding my trains.
The literal Amtrak Acela
That one reminds me of Acela Express but different
I saw 4506 at long branch yard Monday
happy anniversary
Thank you kindly. I’ll keep this going for as long as I’m able.
Great train video. Thanks.Greetings Joe😊
Thanks for the kind words Joe, I appreciate it.
those units have been sitting on that track for years, doubt they’ve been converted yet. so far 9750 is the only one that has been converted… although i’ve been told that 9751 and 9752 are on their way 😉
Oh wow really!? I haven’t been to Wilmington in years, or ever really. Given the HHP-C program and the distance from which I saw these (can’t 100% tell if they had pantographs or not) I thought these were HHP-8s in the process of being converted to NPCUs.
@@NortheastTrainMansome of the Amtrak units are being held as part donors for the MARC units, which is why they're only converting 8 units into cabs, leaving locomotives 7 left over
Love seeing all this new infrastructure being built/upgraded!!
For sure. I’m looking forward to seeing how the new platform looks. I like the Lancaster station, and TLC when done “right” enhances the station & retains its character.
Bunch of places have the platforms being totally redone
I saw New Carrollton on the NEC is having its platform rebuilt too.
What are they doing?
as seen in the video + mentioned in the description, they're rebuilding the platform.
