Steve Cuden & Frank Wildhorn Create Jekyll & Hyde (Season 8 Premiere)
Here's a short clip of my season 8 opener with Steve Cuden, co-creator of the iconic musical Jekyll & Hyde. He talks about the beginning stages of the idea for a musical and how he (not Wildhorn) suggested the Robert Louis Stevenson classic novella as a basis for a musical.

Thank you for posting this interview! Like many others I was introduced to The Little Prince when I was a child. My mom had seen it first, right after her mom had passed away, and it deeply touched her due to the thematic elements of life after death and the hope that the film displayed as the Pilot heard the Little Prince's laughter in the stars. It gave her hope during that difficult time. Many thanks to Steven Warner for being willing to share so many wonderful stories of his experience making the film all those years ago.

Thank you for sharing this incredible interview and story with us! I had to wait almost 30 years before I could ever see Steven Warner again. I remember seeing the movie for the first time when I was about the same age that he was when it was filmed and the ending just devastated me! It is a story that resonates in many different ways the older you get. Hopefully they will come out with a new edition for the 50th anniversary and we will be able to see some of the scenes that were cut... it would really be an amazing tribute to Richard Kiley, Bob Fosse, Gene Wilder, and so many other great performers and producers from the past that are no longer with us. Glad to see that Steven Warner has lived such an interesting life off the screen.

How fortunate was I to see Will Swenson in the Broadway production of a Beautiful Noise back in late April. I was so impressed with his performance that I purchased front row seats for myself, and two friends, and flew up from Florida to see the show again. Unfortunately, he was not performing the night we had tickets. The understudy was quite good, but I was still disappointed. I think the chemistry on stage with his fellow actors is part of what makes Will Swenson so very special. This interview is also such a delight to watch. How lucky are we to have such an actor in our generation! Thank you, Mr. Swenson again and I look forward to seeing this fabulous production for a third time with you in it. ❤

You can tell he enjoys what he's doing but clearly works hard each and every show. He told me how grateful but tired he was at the opening night party. Between tech rehearsals and media events, opening a show is a heavy load for any lead actor and yet Will maintains his constant professionalism throughout. Just discovered this (1974) movie and found it fascinating! Didn't know this existed until today...when searching for the 2015 animated version (which I thought was awful). You gave a phenomenal performance, and (IMHO) should always be extremely proud of it. THIS is how I always thought the movie of this wonderful story should be portrayed. When I learned Richard Kiley was cast as the pilot, Gene Wilder was playing the fox, and Bob Fosse was the snake, all bets were off! I HAD to watch it right away.... and I did! Had ten years of ballet growing up, and used to watch all the (old) musicals so I could watch the likes of Gene Kelly, Cyd Charisse, Fred Astaire, etc. in motion. (Like you, I loved to watch their footwork and how they so seamlessly integrated their whole body into the movements with emotional dimension.) In addition to owning a hot air balloon (Areostats having originated in France), I also previously owned a 1946 Aeronca (taildragger), and so this story has always resonated with me on many levels. How very lucky you were to have had the opportunity to know these fascinating and supremely talented individuals. I envy you! For your contribution (no small change to actually be carrying the movie), I thought you were absolutely believable, had impressive timing & execution, and were the magical charm in this project...every bit as enchanting in your role as the adults. Thank you for so generously sharing your personal experiences with the rest of us... immensely enjoyed all the back stories. Well done!!!
