The metal frame under the barrel was to keep the antenna from getting tangled up in the gun and coax MG when rotating the turret. It disappeared when the antenna was relocated.

the gun is alright, i do think the pen is broken however the damage is the part that sucks, it doesn't spall really at all which means you gotta aim more than you would be aiming for weak spots, other than that though the M-51 is a menace, and it's a huge counter to really any heavy

I love the M-51 because at its tier it can damn near one-shot anything you see if you know how to aim, but since it’s a Sherman it can also be one-shot by most things at its tier, it’s a paper Tiger and I love that

So this tank is worth playing it seems, I was a bit worried about the APDS at this rank. I'm currently playing in 7.3 and having my best time with the Ho Ri and the Type 99.

I had the privilege to play the STB-1 back 4yrs ago while i was still grinding Japan... It was at 7.7, with HEAT-FS, Better Gun handling (vertical targeting speed), -17kph reverse speed etc. Next to the Ho-Ri-Production the best vehicle at its rank. Now it's at 8.3, nerfed into oblivion, still usable but just "mid"... a fate that sadly befell many Japanese tanks Good Vid! Maybe Type 16 next?
