Lloyd center Zombie mall walk come see the changes.

This is an update on the Lloyd center. Almost a year later, it's still here hanging on by a thread. It was prime time for the mall to be packed on a Friday afternoon in the summertime. But that was far from the case.

I go there for my ice skating lessons
A dangerous city that Nashville lies about
Ty
Eleven months since my last visit, this looks twice as bleak.
About to tear it down. Putting up some things new. I'll research. Ty
It would have been so much more interesting had you panned into the storefront/restaurant windows 🫤
😂 the mall is far from abandoned but it is very empty. There are still stores there but not as many due to the homeless In the area. I worked security right across the street from that place at the Onpoint bank
I spent most of my childhood in Portland (specifically the metro area) and surprisingly I have never heard of this mall all my 7-8 years I lived there. But happy to find this mall on my recommended!
This is an intentional misrepresentation of what's going on on here This mall opens its main doors very early in the morning for ice skating lessons. You see the ice rink and many people on it briefly but whoever is filming intentionally doesn't film it because they want you to think this is some creepy "abandon" mall. It is NOT. Clearly this video was taken...maybe 5:30 or 6 in the morning. People training to be professional skaters train here. Tanya Harding trained here. When I was homeless in the 90s I used to get coffee and go here and watch them skate from the second level. And it was just like this. Completely dead except for a few people cleaning and setting up and practicing triple axels at the ice rink. It was one of my favorite parts of the day to go there and watch the skaters while I had my first coffee of the day. And as I was homeless..it was the earliest opportunity to get out of the rain and cold.
I remember that place being always be full of people back in the early 2000's pretty much at any time of the day. Given that malls have been dying for the pas two decades, if not longer, I'm surprised there anything happening there.
Was better in ‘91….Satyricon, Eat or Die, Hung Far Low….seedy & interesting but fairly safe.
Why would anyone even go there anymore? There’s nothing there.
😂😂
My dad and I miss Lloyd Center mall. I was born and raised in Vancouver, Washington.
Lloyd Center was originally an open air mall, the glass roof here was added later. Back then it was two stories with cement walk sidewalks. They included a third story with food court movie theater and office spaces while adding the glass roof. Originally, the exposed bottom floor was made of seating areas and a skating rink (which I believe is still there). I was talking with an investor a few years back actually purchased the entire upper floor at the intent of turning it into a "Hard Rock Cafe" type of restaurant, with walk on music and comedy acts, games, movies, etc. That was just before the pandemic. Guessing he lost his pants 😒
First of all, it is not abbandoned. It is sadly only about 30 percent occupancy. It looks like the areas near the ice rink are hanging on there. I wonder if the movie theater is still operating. Sad to see this. I remember it before it was enclosed. My grandmother worked at Meier and Frank, I bought my wedding dress at a shop there, a dear family friend had a long time jewelry store there.
every single person in this comment section is stupid lol learn how the economy works
I was in this Mall is June 2023.. there were displays of Roses by the thousands for a contest of some sort. It was beautiful to see all the rose varieties. I had a sundae at that DQ. There were people skating on the ice rink. Other than that what you see in this video is what the Mall is today. I'm not sure why it's kept open now. Property taxes that must be outrageous in Portland still have to be paid. I would think with that fact alone the Mall would be closed and torn down. The Mall obviously can't make a profit. These dead Malls are in much of the US now, not just Lloyd Center.
One would probably guess their are many homeless camps outside that mall or in the park across the street, that would keep me from riding my bike to that mall. My family shops online for just about everything we need. so do i thanks to my greenlight youth master card. or prepaid visa from walgreens
The Roots foods new renovation sucks. It was sooo much better when the food court was Cascades
These videos fascinate me. Back in the 80s and 90s placed like this would be absolutely packed from Friday afternoon all through Sunday. These would be great for mixed use; office workers/restaurants/daycares, and who knows what else.
What did it look like before covid/the blm riots
16:45 - 16:50 This was Jaimie's Diner. Red and white colored 50's themed diner style place. They had the old Rock-Ola jukebox with the colored bubble fluids on the front, they had the big cushy tufted red sparkly vinyl booth seats, counter area with shiny chrome stools, old school milkshakes and the best part was the kids meals came inside of paper boxes that looked like 1950's/60's cars. Many a happy birthday were had there.
It's a creepy place to go to. Lloyd center and Mall 205 to the east are symbols of the urban decay that accompanies weak-kneed liberal politics. Portland has become a joke.
Way too fast of a walk through. Couldn't see much.
The legend of Polybius started here
The Albany mall is smaller but equally as empty
THAT. is freaking creepy. like, mall graveyard.
Just wow, it's really sad to see a lot of these businesses in malls close down. it wasn't that long ago we all went to the mall and shopped with our friends and met up with people
When i think of this mall making sad. Remember a lot fun as kid with going to toy r us the big stroy not that tiny toyr us store.
I remember Lloyd Center often mentioned by my family when I first moved here 16 years ago. I have some memories walking around this mall as well. As someone who grew up in Asia, where malls are still thriving, maybe they should redesign the space as actual hang out place instead of just for retail. Retail is mostly online now. They need to put more eateries around with a few shops here and there. There is no place like this in the area. I think Bridgeport Village is pretty close, it has a lot of eatery options, a cinema, a grocery store and some shops. People are always looking for a place to hang out at. There is nowhere to go past 7 pm other than bars.
That’s so crazy
Just sad!!
😲I live in a Portland suburb and had no idea Lloyd Center is this empty😡 thanks to Portlands liberal government this city is a shit hole now
Change name to Newsom Center
This mall is still open.
i wish they would tear it down and not waste millions more trying to rebuild it. lloyd center sucks ass and the amount of money the city has pissed away subsidizing the area trying to lure people to it is staggering.take a hint, malls.
I remember going there as a kid with my Mom and the place was full of people.
Lloyd Center stores don't open up until 11am...the doctor offices (top floor) open earlier as does the ice rink...so you made this video before the stores opened up....not exactly "Abandoned Mall" SMH 🤔🤔
Any info on the planned new building at the Center? It's sad to see, and sadder to think about all the remodeling that was done in the process of trying to save it. I think COVID lockdowns destroyed a lot of businesses. Maybe the whole country.
I would hardly call that abandoned...though it is surprisingly empty and there are probably less than 50% of the fronts actually occupied. There are still clearly many businesses opposing etc.
Eternal Sunshine of the (virtually) Spotless Zombie Mall Very impressive maintenance!
For generations Portland used to be such a treat to visit until about 2015. Baffling to watch it's own citizens destroy this once unique culture. Perhaps this represents utopian equality where everything is bland and the same.
I liked the spiral staircase. Such a huge shopping center. What a waste!
They should turn these abandoned places into Homeless Shelters ! Provide Health and Counseling services, Drug and Alcohol Treatment Centers ! Help people heal!
So bizarre seeing it empty.
What time of day was this? It looks like a lot of stores just aren’t open yet. I have trouble believing this is a walk through during peak hours.
A surreal bookmark.
How about doing this in the middle of the day on a Saturday? Instead of before shopping hours and calling it abandoned
