We have melted bottles in a campfire and found that if you remove the melted glass from the fire, the glass will cool unevenly, causing the melted bottle to crack. If we leave the melted bottle covered in coals until the ashes are cool, the glass cools evenly and does not crack.
Sometimes you just gotta say “fuck it” & take the leap.

What was your speed and power settings
Usually around 250mm on speed and 8-10 on power
I run a second pass on same power and speed . time consuming but it looks 50 times nicer . kind of stumbled on that making numerous mistakes learning.

I have for smaller jobs but I would not rely on it for its grinding ability

I do have one of these that I still work every opportunity that comes along. Still have the LeTourneau over head cable system on mine. Found out the pony motor has a preference of the old Champion spark plugs over the new Autolites. Machines has its quirks but it's paid for and there's no place to plugs in a lap top.
While I do not have such an old bulldozer I have a 53 year old side loader forklift and a 50 year old rough terrain forklift. Both are still going strong

Understand that this was named back when 31" tires were big tires. CJ-5's had a huge disadvantage over the CJ-7's but Dad's long bed farm truck with open diffs could make it look easy.

To be honest the guard isn’t an issue on these. You can spin it around a bit the the lowest point of the guard is higher than the body of the tool the only benefit you’d get is side access - and you’d be better trimming down the guard then

Mostly because it’s easy for a sniper to carry. Less heavy. And it’s still a pretty good round!
@@jessewells1671 I hate this term, but it's an inherently accurate cartridge. 50bmg pressure is really really difficult to get under control with Barrel harmonics. 50 BMG is in area Target cartridge

these antique machines are fun to run for a little while then its all work after that! LOL I ran a early 50s TD9 and a early 60s cat 933 whew just too many levers!
