We used to play up there in 1970s and 80 s, the range was still being used part time then, loads of old army kit was left scattered around then, the stuff we used to take home from Bushfeid camp, carrier bags of spent bullets dug out of the sand on range, gas masks, old webbing kit bags, was mad.

We called in the Blockhouse, used to play in it as kids in the 70's before it was concreted up.

Didn't know about this place. Only place I've walked around that way was the old army training base south of here, can't remember now what it was called. A few buildings there and a what looks like an armoury / ammunition store which you can go in. Google maps:- 51.043089, -1.331867

Just Infront of that one was a load more , some partly underground with Anderson shelters ,we used to play there as kids (against our parents wishes) . But when they built the M27 motorway they were all buried .

Hi, just stumbled across this video as I actually went here a few weeks back. It's not actually a pillbox in the classic sense of the word. It's an Extended Defence Officer's Post (XDO). They are very rare, but the main function was as a position to observe the water, look out for the enemy, with the main role of managing and organising the British minefields that were laid in Southampton Water. Still, great to see others documenting our history like this, it's important so great to see your video.

There's a lot out here and we how found many parculliar places and we'd like to exchange knowledge and maybe even show you some places you haven't seen yet.

I've known about this place since 1992 and it's the first moving footage of it I've seen. Thanks.
