Midi Designer - show/hide panels
Show and hide panels - a new and very useful function in Midi Designer. My first use is for the Ventris dual reverb pedal: change the labels of effect control dials depending on effect type.

Comparison of 16 overdrive and fuzz pedals used with bass
If you could only keep 2 ?
I have 2 of those: Bass Fat Drive & a BDDI clone. My fave in this demo is the WC Tall Font.
THANK YOU!!!
nice video what is the Ditto pedal for?
This is seriously awesome. What is controlling what here?
Exactly what we need from a demo, thanks
I think I currently own that exact barbershop , 967?
Solidgoldfx Beta, very very nice!
That clean sound is the best tho and I love the drives. Killer tone(s) bro!
All on at once would have been a great ending
This is beautiful, the exact thing we needed to add depth to ruclips.net/video/xZVk70KVjps/видео.html Seeing how you use it in a layout is beautiful, thanks for sharing.
The Adrenalin ii did a fantastic job of doing syncopated guitar effects. MIDI could be used to modulate the stereo fields, pitch, etc. the SL- 20 seems more limited.
Thank you, this saved me a ton of time.
yooooo scrutator!
That was amazing! I totally need to get one of those 8SP's for my Pitchfork now. Ha ha!
What’s that green distortion pedal in the low right side ?
That is a Malekko Scrutator (malekkoheavyindustry.com/product/scrutator/)
my favs were SFT for that mid ampeg fart, BETA overall for being one with the bass tone. and Moog for bordering into synthi fuzz territory without harshess.
Liked & Subscribed. Could you do a bass guitar, Future Impact & Reflex video showing all you could do with that setup?
Can you access tap tempo on the zoom?
Not by this method as far as I know. My setup is several years old though, maybe there are other products that can do more now.
kind of boring
BETAAAA!!!
My reflex arrives tomorrow. Got the Future Impact, H9, A/DA flanger, and a Manta on the board so... Weeee! Next addition is a Stingray!
Thanks man!
funny how you can search youtube for some obscure thing ("pitchfork in fx loop of delay") and it actually shows up. thank you so much for helping to make the internet a wonderland ;)
The ditto by tc electronics was amazing!
Hey there, would it be possible to share any of your Meris layouts for midiDesignerPro2? I've got layouts for Chase Bliss Warped Vinyl and Tonal Recal
Hi, sure, I’ve uploaded to mididesigner.com/qa/6562/layout-layout-for-meris-ottobit-jr
Thanks so much! I'll put up my Chase BLiss layouts once I get them perfected
Hey man, great video. You connected the ipad via the camera connection kit? And how does the whole midi designer work? Do they have the Chase Bliss pedals in their software and know the parameters to control? Thanks!
The iPad was connected via an Alesis IoDock since I needed 5-pin MIDI for the connection to the Midibox. The Camera Connection Kit would work too if you have a MIDI interface that can be connected that way and that supplies a 5-pin MIDI port. Midi Designer is basically a blank page where you design and program your own control surface (you can also download templates that are created by other users). You place control knobs, sliders etc where you want them and then you define what MIDI messages the controls should send. The MIDI messages for a specific pedal are usually listed in a user manual or MIDI implementation manual for the pedal.
FretNoMore thanks! Super helpful
Hey and thanks again! Any chance you saved and Chase Bliss templates like in the video above? I see users presets in the community mididesigner.com/community/
william suran I can maybe get something to you this weekend, the pages I have now (for Gravitas and WV) need a little cleanup first.
I'd love to check that out if possible. I'm getting a bit of the hang of setups, but could definitely benefit from a look at your template if possible. Thanks in advance for your time!
It sounds like something from a PS1 final fantasy game
Nice clean tone, what bass are you using?
Thanks! It was some years ago so I'm not 100% sure, but it was likely my 5-string Overwater J-bass, with a John East J Retro preamp.
Fantastic, thanks!
@@FretNoMore how does it track on the low B?
@@CorvetteCoonass Like other similar pedals, i.e. badly or not at all. :-)
Is this possible through midi cc assignment alone or do you need an interface? I have the future impact and the fcb1010 midi pedal. I use the 1010 to control cc parameters in cubase for vst synths. I would love to use it live to control parameters on the FI without a computer...
There are only a few functions (volume, filter and a couple more) that can be controlled using CCs (see the user manual). Those should work with the 1010. For more control you need to send MIDI NRPN messages, which I suspect the 1010 can’t do, for that you need a computer/pad/phone and suitable software/app.
FretNoMore. Awesome! Thanks for the tip!
The EXP out of the Boss has glitches. Short erratic spikes of signal. Is your’s usable?
Bas Vredeling Can’t say I’ve noticed glitches, though on the other hand I’ve not used it much other than for noise and sounds that are kind of glitchy to begin with. :)
I've made a video showcasing the issue: ruclips.net/video/wvr0185I64c/видео.html
do the midibox would be able to transfer to the ottobit even a midclock signal?
alex marenga Yes, MIDI clock works.
How do you plugg it? Does it need to be assigned?
Pierre Lacroix You have all the settings in the text under this video.
OK thanks
Can you connect the expression pedal directly to the FI?
A standard expression pedal, no, there is no TRS expression input on the FI. The Reflex expression pedal, yes, since it sends MIDI CC messages.
So you need to connect the MIDI out of the reflex to the MIDI in of the Future Impact?
yes
How did you program the midi designer with sysex? I am looking for the parameters
This was done with the few CC messages that the FI supports. From the manual: - - - - - - The MIDI input of the FI will receive the following information: NOTE ON with velocity NOTE OFF PITCH BEND PROGRAM CHANGE (1...99 for programs 1...99) MODULATION (Control 1; default value: 127) BREATH CONTROL (Control 2; default value: 127) MIDI VOLUME (Control 7; default value: 127) SOSTENUTO (Control 66; Effect On/Off). If <64 then switch the relay to bypass, if >=64 then to effect. SOFT PEDAL (Control 67; Program decrement switch). If >=64 then first it makes one step down, then it starts to scroll, just like the Program Up does. Stops if <64. FILTER CUTOFF (Control 74; default value: 64)
Great video! :) I love bass players doing some more experimental stuff!
Thanks! Gotta have some fun in-between playing blues covers. :)
Man, what you did here. Im listening to this one the fourth time in a row.
Thanks! :)
Love the raw signal. Just what everyone always is ranting about, you need a quality signal to make something out of it.
Vintage Microtubes and the Sansamp sound any good the rest sound like farting elephants.
Your channel is a god send to pedal geeks like me. Great sounds.
Loving your vids - exactly the kinda FX manipulation and tinkering I'd like to do, but you're clearly more experienced. Could we find a way to collab? Unless you hate my content, in which case no problem ;)
Hi - lots of good stuff on your page! As to collabs ... I don't really do that, too much pressure. :) I'm done playing in bands too, it got to be too much like work; I just make bleeps and bloops at home now. :)
Haha, yeah that's fair enough, I don't blame you! Well, if you fancied making any of your bleeps and FX available, I'd love to have a play and maybe put a sound design tutorial together or something. But no problem if you'd rather not, I understand.
Hi there, how is your hot hand receiver set up?
Not at all at the moment I'm afraid. :) I'm more comfortable using an expression pedal, to have both hands free for playing. But I should give it another chance.
where can i find cc number for other parameters of future impact ?
Send an email to PandaMidi, they are very helpful.
i asked them twice but they say that they doesn't have CC values for each parameters. so.. do you have any information about it ? or is there a Universal CC values for these pedals ?
Their editor communicates with the pedal using NRPN messages, and it's also one-way (only supports writing to the pedal from the PC). So likely no CC messages other than the few mentioned in the manual.
oh ok i see thanks for responds
just in case you're still looking, here you can find a complete list of the NRPN commands bit.ly/2zO9o1u
Nice! What do you have your expression pedal connected to, since the jack on the Meris can only be assigned to exp or midi (or tap or preset), but not both at the same time?
The (Source Source Audio Reflex) expression pedal sends MIDI PC messages to the Midi Designer app which in turn sends the messages to the Ottobit.
@Galaxy Sound: Reflex expression pedal (sends MIDI CC messages) -> iO Dock with Midi Designer app -> MidiBox -> Ottobit. The iPad and app are not necessary, I just showed you can control it from there too. Bassically the control is CC messages via the MidiBox (to convert from 5-pin MIDI to TRS cable) into the Ottobit.
Fantastic! I have to do the same connection! What kind of Disaster Area device is? Gen 2 or Gen 3 ? Thanx a lot!!! Bye
I have a Disaster Area DMC-3XL Gen2
Hello, thanx for the answer! Is that with gHOST Output ? Or do you need also ghost converter USB MIDI host interface? What is the chain of theese pedals? Thank you very much for your support. Bye. Marcello
I have the separate gHOST box, so it's DMC-3XL -> gHOST -> USB hub -> ZOOMs If the controller has the gHOST option you don't need the separate box.
Thanx! Did you update firmware??
It was some time ago now and my memory is not what it used to be :) but I do believe I got a new version of the DMC firmware since the first version was a bit glitchy with the Zooms, they did not always respond to the PC messages.
Oh hell yes!!!! Nice work!
Is the expression pedal plugged into the alesis via phone jack
No, it's 5-pin MIDI from the expression pedal to the iODock which then forwards the CC messages to the FI.
WOW this is awesome please keep posting!
Thanks! Need some new ideas though ...
Awesome, i always wanted to ear those pedals matched ! Am i right if i say that you got some board of canada feelings in your hands?
Hadn't heard of them before, but sounds interesting. Thanks for the pointer, will check out their tunes!
Great stuff - very imaginative. As soon as I saw that EHX 8 Step, Pitchfork, SA Nemesis and the Boss Slicer together I smiled. I don't have the 8 Step but I've got the others and I team them up with a Supernatural Reverb, SA Orbital and an OCD. The Slicer is an amazing pedal that greatly expands its neighbors on the pedalboard. Hope to see more of Fret No More!
