@@TomatoMan-ip9xj anything canned is not AS good as fresh, especially in the tin cans. But it can be cost effective because it’s shelfstable animal protein. Fresh is great unless you wait too long to cook it or freeze it and it goes bad. I always have canned protein available in case we’re running low, I need something really quick, or a storm knocks out power and I’m trying to figure out dinner ☺️

Needless to say, I use LOTS of canned food because it’s cost effective. I also have frozen and fresh rotate through.

@@MamaAle13 just this month! Usually it’s 175-200 per week. But I have a LOT that needs to be used up so I challenged myself to only spend $100 this month and use what I have!

This is the first one we’re doing with a little variety in the spaces and I’m really hoping for the best!

@@rachelferrell Canadian groceries are SO EXPENSIVE. In my town, which is considered low coast, 2lbs of chicken breasts is typically $25. An apple, like a single apple, can be $1.50. One watermelon is $10! So yeah, $100 worth of groceries in Canada will get you like maybe a week and a half if you buy the cheapest things and don’t eat much. Just to put it in perspective, I don’t buy expensive things and yet I spend $200-$250 A WEEK. And thats just basic stuff like bread, ground beef, canned goods, dairy and produce.

@@norwegianblue2017 I love being able to work from home! We couldn’t swing it without two jobs - but I count it an honor to get to manage the parts of our home that I do ❤️ I love those kids quite a bit, too ☺️

@@enialb yes! I add vanilla and spices depending on how I’m feeling. When I run out of almond milk I’m going to try and make my own oat milk and see how it does. It’s still around $5 with the ingredients… but I’d add more liquid to try and ration it out through the month.

Eating healthy is expensive! What’s not seen is the freezer and there’s quite a bit in there that would be a better choice - I do try to find a realistic balance. Right now the pendulum is swinging more cost effective than ultra healthy. I hope that shifts in the near future!

I hope I can! I was telling my mom about it and got a kick out of the self imposed $100. Like I could’ve done $50 a week and it still would’ve been challenge enough. I HAD to go hard 😅😂
